Don’t need to pull fans, boost line, fender liner, or motor mount. Just disconnect hose clamp on soft boost line, pull it out of the way, and side compressor out.

Great video, excellent. However you managed to say service position 214 times. If you removed that expression from the video it would be 7 minutes shorter.

cool and not that hard either. They charge way too much. DIY.....dont forget service position and the RKX valve. I did the valve on my other cars and fixed EVERYTHING....DIY thermostat too...That one is expensive at the dealer. I show a serious shortcut. Look up thermostat shortcut.

The bolts on the compressor pipes are T45. If anyone wanted to know before they attempted this job. Also I've done this without service position by unbolting lower engine mount, hoses can be accessed from the top with u joint adaptor on 1/2' extension bar. Service position is better but I was able to do it quite easily. I will try service position next time.

How hard was it to get to the bolt at the back that is set back in a cavity did you push the engine back to make room to get in there to undo it

@@anthonybagnato7894 bit fiddly and you can't see much but you can do it from underneath or above which ever suits you best. When the lower engine mount bolts are removed the engine rocks back and forth quite easily so you can push it back alittle to make a bit of space to ratchet in there. A second person holding the engine back or a strap looped around something and onto the subframe holding the engine back is also beneficial.

I just did this on my mk6, and I didn’t have to put the front end in service position, just took off the pipe and the fender liner, it look me a bit less than an hour to remove it. If you get the lines before removing anything from the top with a long extension you can remove them without putting the front end into service position. No loosing the dogbone either. Maybe the mk6 as a bit more space because it was really easy

much easier in service. just not so hard to do the job. you can see. only takes an extra 20 minutes.

Can these type of compressors whine like older clutch type when they are failing?

I did the same thing you did replacing the blatter value and then the compressor 2 years later but the AC is still intermittent. What would be the next thing to do? I think the blatter value might not be getting a strong signal

The splines on the compressor that connect it to the clutch stripped on me. Does anyone know of a way to fix it without buying a whole new compressor?

can I loose the hoses to free up the gas, install new compressor and then recharge again? another question: how do I replace the compressor clutch on a Skoda Superb from 2002?

yes partial. pulled the bumper and removed 7 of the bolts and loosened the 8th makes it much easier. possible ithe the front on but a bit of a fight to get the ac lines on and off.

Mine seems to rattle like mad unless ac is switched on ….. any ideas ?

probably compressor. could be the idler but most likely the compressor is going out

Mike this has nothing to do with your ac, I'm in socal visiting I need a windshield for my 75 bay any suggestions as to where to buy one without spending to much money Enjoy the Day Peace ✌

I would check the local glass supplier. I use a place called Los compadres glass in Rubidoux....Check Craigslist where you live and look for a windshield replacement guy. They are usually less than 150....Installed. but you might want to do the rust repair before you put one in. It will be rusty under that rubber.

try the RKX valve first easy fix usually does solves the issues.
