The fact i worked in a performance shop as a turbo specialist means nil then i suppose, it took your wise discernment over my 6 years of ASE and BMW certified work and experience installing, tuning, and building motors that a "boy racer" will never ever in his wildest dreams be able to catch ,see or drive in his lifetime. that GSR may be a decent motor, it may have a good amount of power, but there is no possible way that motor was stock, as no stock GSR can hang with a vr6

They call it vanos, but it works on a whole different set of mechanics, it adjusts the cam timing by 6 degrees either way it needs to allow for better fuel mix and compression V tech uses a funky lifter set :\

Yes, there is a VR6 GTI. Just almost bought a '98 VR6 GTI 5sp.

The newer vr6, weight roughly 3000 pounds. I' skeptical of the wheel horsepower numbers (as the ones you quoted are showing only a 10% drivetrain lose). After some internet searching, most people with your year vr6 are running high 14's to low 15's. Thats slightly faster then a stock gsr integra (most are in the low to mid 15 range). Its a driver's race, and you've proven yourself to be a better driver then the typical kid in a gsr.

Agreed. Too much pull in the lower rpms for the integra. 5,000 + they're sweet. anything less than that and they have no balls.

maybe some of the older vr's but my vr6 is a 24v vr6 so it has 180 at the wheels 200 at the flywheel. the only acura that has given me a good run was an rsx and that was just about dead even. but integras have never kept up and they are ones with work into them not just stock.

What was done to each car as in mods? I see and hear exhausts on both of them. For those of you in the know a VR6's head flows horribly due to design. A stock B16A2 flows more than a 12v VR6 head with a P&P and BVH. I believe a B18c1 flows a bit more and is lighter making 170hp while the 2.8 12v VR6 makes 172 stock. Let's compare weight of each car too. I own a pretty maxed out N/A 12v VR6 putting only 205hp to the front wheels.

The rsx-s, base model rsx, 99-00 civic si, gsr, type r, new si, 2003 hatch style si all run the quarter mile in the 15 second range. Most Vw's run similar times (with the exception of the newer turbo models and the r32). Vw, is more of a luxury vehicle, while acura is more known for being sporty. There both great cars, but to be honest, in the grand scheme of things, Honda's are running faster.

12v VR6 head flows horribly. B18c1 flows amazingly well. MKIII VR6 GTI 172hp/173tq stock redline 6500rpms. Falls on its face without chip or cams around 6000rpms. Weight around 2800lbs +/-. (I own a MKIII VR6 Jetta pretty maxed out N/A) Integra GSR B18c1 stock 170hp tq(I've know idea) Weight?. Stock gearing much better for racing than a VR6's stock gearing. If the VR6 head flowed as much as a B18c1,c5 or(in dreams)k20a2,z1 then it would have a greater chance. B18c1 out in 1997 VR6 1992.

You must be the worlds greatest driver then, because stock gsr's and vr6 run nearly identical quarters.

if you listen to the integra at the bigenning 0:06-0:07 its like he messed up on the gears cause you dont hear the engine pulling and then after a few seconds you hear it pulling hard

Until you go all out and stroke the 1.8 to a 2.2 and drop a gt30 onto it, then its just a 560HP MONSTER.

@lameotet123 You are wrong. The Integra passes the VW during second 13. The VW doesn't hit his brakes until 16 seconds, which at that point the Integra is about 2 car's ahead. NOT a "ricer fly-by". doubt the GSR is stock. buddy has one with full skunk bolt ons (intake, throttle body, headers, ect) I pulled on him by 3 cars. buddy has a stock 04 wrx we're neck and neck the whole time. all I have done is I delted the 2nd resonator and the muffler and added a 2.25 pipe with a magnaflow....the vr6 didn't push it he let off or. the gsr isn't stock.

At the end of the day yea new cars are quite a bit heavyer and they need more power to pull the times of the old tin foil cars but you make one slip up and you will forgive that 1 sec loss for all the saftey equipment that saves you and your loved ones life's and I would personaly have a honda vtec any day over a vw.

@OneHandHigh Try less than 1/4 of car.. Brakes on VW come on at 15. They were dead even at that point. The VR6 beat it to the quarter and the honda isnt stock either.. but that vr6 sure is The tittle could be got VTEC.. because he could keep up... a stock VR6 Does the quarter mile in 15 Sec

@xeronicus its funny every time i see some one's comment it apparently seems that always some one different invented vtec and sold it to honda haha. i would like to know where this theory came from or what vehicle had the vtec been used on before. Fiat had invented the variable valve timing i know but this has very little in common with vtec as vtec varies both timing and LIFT. so prove me wrong please id like to learn

@Ky7yL what golf was it? i donno much about golfs but up to the mk3 they used semi indipendent suspension and i dont think the mk4 offered an 8v engine for such a modern card that'd be gay. as for the blue smoke well i have to admit some of them do burn oil HOWEVER consider that they'd have been revvin their asses till 8500k for the past 20 years i think the rings could do with some changing. and that isnt necissarily damage ;) its just wear and tear which @ 8500 revs is at a very large rate.

freaking omg. i have proof that a gsr w/bolt-ons will NOT smoke a gti... especially at a roll... gsr had spray.. u can tell, just freaking hear a change in the engine sound after he shifted into 2nd gear... he shifted to 2nd hella early and like his revs dropped hella low, then BAM, NOS... freakin cheap

well you are wrong actually allthough the factory rev limiter hits at 7 grand, you can rev a vr6 up to 8-9 but there is no need really all the power is between 3-and 6500

h22???? Then how come my KLDE american de-tuned mazda 626 could shit a prelude out no issues? My GTI is WAY faster than my 626, stock. Its lighter.(then i broke loose and dropped a S/C on it, wasn't so slow then, had a clutched pulley and ecu map switch, on=power off=gas) A GTI with the same amount of work done to it pushing 10 lbs of boost would wipe the H-bomb out. Flowing a vr6 head...polish, port, flow, DONE. It cost me 80 dollars to get all that done to my project motor 1.8 To 2.2 stroker

As I've stated before, your most likely beating people due to driving not there cars. Ie, a person driving a stock gsr could pilot those types of times (as well documented on several forums). Also I doubt your winning by 4 cars, thats about 80 feet.... Typical VW owners, spouting superiority...
