I'm 53 and have been ADHD Inattentive Type my whole life. I was diagnosed yesterday. I just started Vyvanse this morning. I read a chapter in a book today. I didnt ask my wife to repeat herself once. I didnt misplace anything today. I felt calm. My thoughts werent jumping all over the place. I left the house to attend something and my wife asked me to pick something up at the store. I didnt forget. Game changer and its only day one.

I was finally diagnosed on Monday....at 40. Started Vyvance today. I have mixed type ADHD. About 45mins after taking this, I did all my dishes, laundry, swept my floor, and made a meal in 3 hours. Thats usually 3 or 4 days worth of work for me. Plus my brain was calm.

Great video with lots of great info. I've been on Vyvanse for just over 7 months (41yo male, 60mg per day dose). I'm not exaggerating or bragging, but as a business owner I made 40% more income in 2019 due to my ability to complete tasks. Since beginning Vyvanse I've also lost 25lbs, keep up with daily chores much easier, and learned to play piano. Everyone's results will be different of course depending on their lifestyle, but it's been a game changer for me. Downsides include the crash around 7 o'clock every night, stomach cramping during the crash, some sleep issues, and increased irritability. And let's not forget that insurance probably won't cover it, and it can cost upwards of $300 a month for this stuff! The good far outweighs the bad however and I'm finally getting my life back together after years of struggling with focus and energy. If anyone has questions feel free to let me know.

Josh Wow, that’s great! You’re absolutely right too, results may vary. Every medication I’ve taken so far has helped a little, but nothing to the degree you just described. I’m happy to hear you had such a positive outcome! It’s a shame we only seem to hear about the overwhelming majority of success stories like yours within our own little community, as opposed to the narrative pushed onto the masses that these medications are something to be feared.

@@heathersteele4554 Hi Heather, I take mine around 9:30-10 am each morning, and typically have my crash around 7pm. You can manage this however by making sure you eat, especially protein, as it will offer the crash symptoms. It will take a while to adjust at first but just know the crash gets much easier after a few weeks. Good luck!

I have ADHD but stopped my binge eating by taking a heavy dose of psilocybin mushrooms. I prepared before by asking questions I wanted answered. The mushrooms told me to eat differently. I only eat when hungry and have lost 50 lbs over the course of a year. Just a mindset change allowed me to eat healthier. I'm on vyvanse but the dose is too low and lasts about 5 hours with a comedown that lasts until I sleep.

@journeytowellness7096
@journeytowellness7096 4 жыл бұрын
Dionel Caban Hmm... Strattera is one of the most popular non-stimulants. However, typical first line treatment is trying a stimulant. That being said, there’s a good amount of people who have had good results with Strattera. I’ve never tried it, but my understanding is it takes a while to build up in your system before it starts really working. Unlike the stimulants which start working within the first hour of taking them, medications like Strattera can take a few weeks. Just make sure to keep in good communication with your doctor. Don’t be afraid to tell them if it’s not working well or if you have any side effects. Also, you may want to consider keeping a journal to document what you experience as you probably won’t remember everything when you see your doctor next. I wish you the best, let me know how it goes!

As of July 31st of 2023 - I, at the age of 34, was diangosed with the combined type (inattentive, hyperactive, and impulsive) of ADHD! This channel is part of the reason I decided to reach out for help! I will be forever greatful for all your information and personal stories! I have struggled with weight, sleep, chores, keeping a tidy room, meeting deadlines at work, remembering appointments, absorbing information (takes a few read-throughs of text), driving, bouncing between projects or activities, impulse control (Amazon can be the bane of my existence sometimes lol), being seen as lazy and never amounted to my potential, butting into conversations or activities and taking over, and a whole slew of other symptoms. I never hit a 4.0 in high school or college, but considering I got a 3.8 with undiagnosed ADHD makes me still feel victorious at this stage in my life! Again, thank you for putting this out there for all of us, and even more so putting yourself out there for us! :)

I 100% agree with your view that spending time figuring the right med and dose is time well spent! For me Vyvanse didn’t work very well so I got onto Concerta, but it plain didn’t work, so we tried Strattera. It was amazing for focus, but had nasty side effects - for me higher doses brought cold extremeties and low mood. Finally what’s working in a life changing way is low dose (25mg per day) Strattera plus Vyvanse (30mg per day). I wake feeling chilled with a nice quiet mind (way different to before I started meds in the best of ways!) but not so energetic…that’s the low dose Strattera. When the Vyvanse kicks in, I get a growing energy and increased focus (Strattera gives some even on its own) and am still feeling chilled, but I can then get sh1t done! I’m finally able to listen to conversations without blabbing in every minute or zoning out, and I even have patience to wait in a line and am not on a hair trigger generally. I had given up finding a med, but the switch to two meds which each worked a little on their own and WOW … the synergistic effect is great! Time well spent! Good luck finding your med/combo of meds! Invest the time as you’re worth it 😀 PS my med journey was 5 months and 7 psychiatrist sessions. Costly but life changing in the end!

Sir does this drugs work long term such as 30 to 50 years of life or they are just short term use drugs like for 3 months and you build tolerance and more and more is needed to get same effects.
@journeytowellness7096
@journeytowellness7096 4 жыл бұрын
vishal surana That would depend on the individual. As with all the ADHD medication, it is possible to build up a tolerance to the dose that previously worked. How long that takes varies between individuals. One way to combat this is to either take “breaks” from the medication, another is to switch medications as needed when a tolerance is built up. Unfortunately, nothing is full proof, but there are plenty of people who have had long term success (20+ years) with stimulant medication. I hope this answers your question.

@@journeytowellness7096I am also a truck driver and I've recently started stimulant medication for ADD/ anxiety. Feel a lot better when I take them, but I'm concerned with how it could affect the DOT Physical. Have you had any issues passing it while taking stimulants?

I’m not familiar with feeling heat in the face, but an increased heart rate is one of the more common negative side effects of taking any kind of stimulant medication. It’s definitely something you need to discuss with your doctor right away. If you’re really concerned, don’t hesitate or be afraid to visit the ER. I know feeling your heart race for no good reason can be a bit concerning, but most of the time, it’s nothing more than just that. Fortunately, the effects of stimulant medication, even the negative ones, only last a day at most. Hope this helps, and best of luck!

Seems two adhd meds are being prescribed these days- even to children- the most treatable psychiatric problem and so time consuming and financially just trying to find a knowledgeable psychiatrist and each person responds differently- menopause is a similar issues- sometimes I can’t believe it’s 2023 and the treatment is poor in Australia

Vyvanse didn't work for me at all. 70% of the time I couldn't even feel it working (I found out drinking a protein shake with it helps it work) and it caused me to start rubbing my tongue on my teeth, I was constantly licking my lips, and would catch myself moving my tongue 👅 around in my mouth like you see meth addicts do. I found out this is called Tardive Dyskinesia and can become permanent. I told my doctor about this and he had me abruptly stop Vyvanse. Adderall XR 20mg twice a day did nothing for me either... I couldnt even feel it working half the time. I am now on 3 - 10mg Adderall IR a day and it works great for me. I think the Adderall IR works better for many because you get "butterfly feeling" for a short period of time with the immediate release of Adderall and that's how you know its working.

I would call your doctor immediately and let them know. Increased heart rate is a common side effect and can usually be resolved by taking a lower dose, or changing to a different medication. I hope you’re able to find a good solution!

Ok y'all. I'm a heavy meth user. Gram a day. I used to take 125mg of Adderall a day. Vyvanse is pure D amph which is more potent than Adderall and is Desoxyn (methamphetamine sulfate) little brother. It's Adderall big brother. Take 3 60mg vyvanse at once you'll be blasted. Non abusable? Laughable. Unless your liver or gastral track is shot you'll be high for 12 hours or more. Sick of this misconception

Mate it’s made in the lab FDA above not like meth were it will destroy 1000 million times more toxic. I can see how people have this conception as you think meth and adhd medication have the same chemical make up
