Yea I tried this several times in the past but found it a bit unpredictable. I had some cases where the cutter got too hot. Most likely due to the increased friction on the bottom of the cutter due to the constant 'down' cutting. Depending on the length of the contour the angle changes which in turn changes the amount of friction. So it ends up with a constant tuning. I found a simple plunge and constant feed to be much more predictable and 100% reliable once I got a good recipe for a specific cutter, no matter the length of the contour

@@KlausMichaelKMS Ah ok, good to know then. We/I solved that with increased Ethanol use, and it being ethanol it dissipates heat a lot better than oil mist can do. Also we have a software that compensates for the change in feedrate based on the actual movement of the tool at it's edge, and not center of the tool. So it acts kind of like a lathe with it's variable RPM based on the diameter of the current tool contact point. Not exactly as dynamic like a lathe's option, but it was the closest thing I could explain it like.

With turning the mms in a wannabe flood coolant I could prevent it from clogging up as well. The fusion settings are a bit too static to handle different situations (or I simply don't know how to apply the correctly). But as I don't do production runs where time comulates up I have no real need to optimize for the last seconds. Setup and workholding is typically the biggest time concern.

Me too, especially seeing it in action. But there are still some parts missing and then the whole build part 😂
