Growing up on a dairy farm, I did much of the field work as a teen while my dad & sisters did the milking. I would spend every morning greasing & oiling the various chains with waste oil (from the usual tractor oil changes). I had 2 sets of clothes: (1) my work clothes I would wear while doing various field work (tillage, planting/seeding, cutting/mowing/chopping/baling hay, etc) and (2) my grease/oil/"mechanics" clothes. It wasn't so much the grease, but oiling the roller chains on all the forage boxes while they were running would splatter oil all over and of course I would get that covered in sand/dirt when working under the equipment. My mom had a special place for my "mechanics" clothes. When I was done on Saturday, I would throw them into an ancient washing machine in the garage (one with the rollers attached to squeeze the water out) to let them soak over night in detergent. I would have to run them threw the machine Sunday after church before she would let me throw them into her normal laundry machine in the house. We never had money, but we spent it on good grease and repurposed all the oil for lubricating roller chains & barn cleaner chains. This saved us tons of money in holding off repairs and equipment replacement. I love watching your videos and your "analness" to lubricate and to teach others that a bit of prevention & money up front saves $1000s later!

I Was always taught from an early Age Grease Is Cheaper than Pins (as i was often told in that exact way) . It was drilled into me so much that I'm a stickler on greasing equipment every morning that i operate now days . Mack

Just like people watching you. I learned on the farm how to grease. Wipe off the fitting, grease(and it was hand pumped) then leave the glob on the fittings to collect the dirt and protect the fitting till next time.

it's soo nice to hear you finally having good luck with your machinery ,, after all the headaches last year and the year before I've seen that CV shaft before on a chevy truck ,, it was on a 2003 chevy S10 that damned shaft has 2 of them on the rear shaft it's a double ended CV shaft ,,I had to replace it too cause it was out of balance ,causing a vibration at highway speed ,, of course not a big surprise cause this truck has over 400K miles it's been a delivery truck for the last 12 years since it was 1 year old

I had one of those cv joints in the front drive shaft on my 78 chevy truck went bad, there was a old machinist down the road who made me a new shaft with regular u joint in it worked fine.

I remember the size of my fore arms before the MS hit me . My arms grew from my years of working in a heavy metal fabrication shop and dragging up to 5/8 thick plate A-36 8ft. x 20ft. thru a 14 ft wide shear using bear paw magnets .

Its a nice machine. Add some weight on the rear weight braket, uses BM19780 compact tractor weights. Install six of them, the ride quality will be better. It keeps the ass end down and the machine is more stable. Swap the front tires, you will reduce damage to the field and if you get in a muddy situation you will have increase traction backing up. Check the seal on the bottom of the wand screen, sometimes the seals dousent seal vary well with the rear door. Shouldent have any issues with the rear screen if sealed properly. Hoses on the rear cyclinders tend to wear aginst the frame if they are not ajusted properly when the cylinders are instaled.

I did enjoy this video, it's funny what lengths ppl will go to to get out of work. I was envious of the battery operated grease gun. Clean oil and grease are the life of a machine. Wes those ungreaseable ball joints, I take a small injection needle fill it with grease and inject it into the rubber cups on joints. If you're anal about the needle hole you can cover it with caulk or silicon sealer. Been thinking about using some of that spray or paintable rubber

My 69 chevy had that same CV joint, got to grease them well and often. Usually the U joint seals would fail from over extension, so to extend the life you greased often. Still had to replace it twice in 100k miles. Racing it in Baja didn't help either :P
