i likes to be pet too by my husband. It bring comfort and basically a touch can create a soft massage to our body which i need after a hard work at home because my body tend to ache very easily.

Studies have shown that physical touch is incredibly important to humans, and I'm not surprised.

As I've gotten older I realized that women crave physical intimacy more than men. Not necessarily sexual...but like closeness unto itself. Men crave intimacy less often but more stronger when they do.

HONESTLY!

The other day my ginger tabby demanded attention by flopping down at the edge of a wall, turning a full somersault headfirst on the way to turning his belly up. Absolutely irresistible move. No adult cat has any right being that adorbs.

My 15 yo kitty would do this when he came to bed to sleep with me. He would stand next to my head and ever so slowly tilt over until PLOP! It was the best thing ever!!! I miss him so much. 😔

If you touch a cats belly without its consent it is going to take them ;-) Bites hands, front claws hold you, back claws rip pieces of flesh from your arm.....only way to get out of that with most of the rest of the shredded arm..put weight on your arm, until the cat understands she has grabbed part of something much more substantial than she is...the hind claws stop, front claws detach slooooowwwly the jaws of death get open....then you reduce the pressure and the cat races away...no harm done, and the cat doesn't try that stunt ever again;-) And you will ask permission before touching cats belly again...;-)

@@BilliSpeaks Not surprising to me. She's pretty direct when it's FOOD she wants. 😁😁 A little slower for Food Play. I think she "wanted" to emphasize how much she loves your petting and that she had the time to flop over and really enjoy herself. (And keep you from other tasks/work?) 😀

Seems to be a common thing in "button users" to press a button several times to "push the meaning" - conveying "really" or "a lot" (which they don't have buttons for) - interestingly across species.

Ohhh so she's not... necessarily _demanding_ pets, cuz she's already being petted. She just feels the need to express how much she enjoys them? Though yeah that is very similar. Would there be value in maybe reinforcing "happy" here? Or adding "like"? Though don't wanna overwhelm her.

@@sandra.helianthus repetition as an intensifier also exists in human languages. E.g. Indonesian has jalan = let's go, and jalan jalan = let's go right now. Also aboriginal Australian languages, e.g. wagga = crow/magpie, wagga wagga = lots of crows/magpies.

They do, I believe. Understanding what communication means precedes using a "foreign language" (aka buttons). "Language" also is not only verbal, but also posture, gesture, mimik, odor, touch, other sounds and so on - using all of that, each animal "language" is quite complex. (Btw we too use facial expression and gesture complimentary to words to know the correct meaning).

For those occasions, my tuxedo cat has a distinctive one-paw bat (claws in) that very clearly communicates "Why'd you stop?!? Get back over here and pet me some more!"

This cat is older one and only doing this a few years…so you might be surprised if you tried it; read “how Stella Learned to talk” Christina Hunger might even be in library by now….it’s more than buttons there is pre-learning and cognition to understand. I had cats some years until my first kitten went to a location where I played with him and I realized he was trying to tell me he wanted to play …ever since then I’ve done a lot more working on understanding them and figuring them out long before the buttons. Christina made the point to allow the pet to respond which is modeled in this video. Even without buttons I’ve made improvements just doing the pre training methods and we are all happier. I’ll be doing the buttons soon. And yes you do not put food on the button board first, nor treats on it and you don’t give them treats to use the buttons; you wait for them to push the buttons after many modeling attempts before they connect it. Not everyone has the time and patience to do this.
