May I ask why you prefer it more?

Asking same: why do you prefer rollr vs kicker? I have a kicker now but thinking about changing to rollr to allow flexibility to change bikes easier.

@@lalainezaide9937 thats the main reason for me. Being able to change bikes easily on the rollr and not having to worry about compatibility issues with differing cassettes etc.

The ROLLR connects to your pedal based power meter and all you just need to do is connect the ROLLR itself to TR. No need to connect your pedals to TR. the kickr bike has a similar function. In the Wahoo app, you should see power match feature. Turn it on and enter your power meter ant+ id.

Key thing you mention here is that using separate power meter. i currently using Sarius M2 and currently concern about accuracy using Zwith (today I did 40 mile Zwith whch was 30 miler on garmin using M2 ). As a new road biker, Rollr makes it better.

I do not have that comparison. Will look into making one.

I meat does clamping the front wheel potentially damage them? I understand Zipp have withdrawn the warranty if you use their wheels on the Rollr?

@@nicholastopley7611 That’s correct, Zipp says the ROLLR can damage their wheels and will void the warranty. Wahoo says the stress imposed by ROLLR is within acceptable range. Personally, I have used it with my Zipp 404 and haven’t had issues.

I have only used carbon frames on trainers including rollers and wheel-ons. It’s fine to use carbon frames.

These are two different trainers. The Omnium is a classic trainer and doesn’t support any of the smart functions the ROLLR provides such as Erg mode or sim mode. Plus the Omnium requires you to remove the front wheel.

I am not sure how hard it is on tires yet but I have been using it only with my road tires and seems to be fine so far and not as hard on them as a regular wheel on trainer.

I do notice watts come a little easier on rollers. Everyone is different though and I think the more you ride indoors the less delta you will have between outdoor and indoors.

It’s to do with heat: when training outdoors the cool air/wind cools you down which lowers your core temperature and therefore your heart rate is lower. Indoor training causes a massive increase in body temperature which increases heart rate which makes it feel harder than being outdoors. Also with being indoors you are constantly pedalling, opposed to cycling outdoors you can ‘coast’ downhills, along flats etc to give you a small break.

First, during the Winter, I train with a powerful fan, and I open the window, the external temperature can get very low (so frisky that, in fact, I only enable the fan and open the window several minutes after I started my warm-up); and I (used to) train with an app that was simulating the slope I was riding, so I had climbs and descents where I could stop pedaling if needed. And second, I'm riding outdoors when the weather is nice enough: during the early Spring, I wear additional layers, so I'm less affected by the cool air; and nowadays, as the Summer is coming, the temperatures can be much higher (15-20°C, and even more) than those I get inside during the Winter; and climbing a steep slope when the sun is beating down and there is no wind, you don't benefit of any "cool air" ! Yet, I think that I would still do better than indoors.

The ROLLR would be loud and vibrate because of the tire contact particularly if you have it in a bedroom on a 2nd floor. Both trainers will work very well with Zwift and will last you a long time.

I’m assuming you are traveling by car as this would be difficult to take on plane. But if you are looking for an option to use with Zwift, this is a great option and should work with her power meter nicely. A wheel-on trainer might also be something to consider like the KICKR Snap as it might be easier to fold and carry when traveling but not as easy to setup the bike on as the ROLLR.
