I remember when Tres Hombres Album first came out, this was my first 8 track tape I bought to play in my first car I ever owned a 1969 Jade Black 2 door Ford Fairlane I purchased from my neighbor in 1976 for $500. I played this 8 track over and over until it popped then I bought another one lol. I am 65 now.

Most musicians are super lucky if they just make it into the Big Time once. Ricky did it Twice with Iconic Bands that the World has seen and heard. To think not only being 1 of the original drummers in Skynyard but to leave just after cutting their 1st album because you wanted to play guitar more then to play the drums. For over 15 years I woke up to "Good Mornin" because I've always loved Blackfoot. I 1st met Ricky, Jakson and T Bone in a little upstate NY club called Manhattan in Spring Valley. My friends band had been hired to open for them. I was basically the hired muscle as I carried everything in set it up and tore it back down after they finished. We were all a bit nervous as it was their 1st time opening for a National Recording Artist. Nothing could be further from the truth. T Bone took our bassist off to the side and gave him at least an hours class on playing the bass. Jakson told our drummer to go play his kit and get a feel of his set up and explained how he tuned his kit to get that big rich sound. Ricky spent time with both our guitarists and took time to talk to each of us during the long wait until doors opened. Several times after we'd open for Blackfoot in many of the clubs in Northern NJ and the NY Area. I had a really long talk and fun day at a club called Connections in Northern NJ as we sat at the bar together watching Ollie North testifying before Congress giving each other our own opinions on the why's it happened. 1 of the Kindest, Honest, Open-minded Musicians to ever take to the stage. Hopefully when they swing through the Raleigh area again and catch up on things.

The Honorable Rev. he is a working man guitar player he knows the ergonomics of playing but he still is doing a lot in his gigs I can't even mostlikely not be able to keep up with the Rev. to play so smooth to sing and why do we love are guitars and guitar players so much why it's in us to listen it is in us to produce the frequency that move the feelings out to the people or we listen and take in the frequency what musians put out .Why is it that the Rev who plays infront of millions and millions and is one of thee because his frequencies are positive and shared in good faith no hate no protests just good ol RocknRoll wow factor 100%....RocknRollFlat5

The best performance I've seen of those tunes..Awesome jam. I'm glad to see Billy play close to the studio version and you cover guys did very well, very appropriate solo, Kenny..My hat's off in respect. That tune's hard to play and make sound that good. I saw Billy and the guys (Billy, Elwood & Frank) awhile back, Dusty had just passed they still played well, I was standing 20 ft away from the stage and my jeans were blowing around, the amps were moving that much air.

When I was younger we didn't have a bus. But when I was transferred to Allegany. I purposely sat in the back of the bus. I'm a registered Micmac Indian. I remember the stories that miss Kenny would tell me. I remember Rosa Parks. I remember the stories told to me about how the French used to treat the Indians. Maybe the short bus but this shit truly happened... 🤔

Wow that house band is hot. Holy Shit. I have playing both tunes for years and although the verses of Jesus just… and waiting for the bus are singable while playing in time if you have a good rhythm section, the turn arounds were there is singing or some brief vocal lines can reek havoc on your timing if you don’t have a good drummer or a click track at the very leabut that big bass sound playing simple note pulses is critical to making lead playing work without rhythm guitar. If you listen to many Gibbons licks it’s clear who Van Halen’s biggest direct influence was (despite the fact that Eddie is always talking about Clapton Cream Era. Despite Ed learning to play lead from Cream records there is absolutely no Clapton influence apparent on the VH catalog but Gibbons syncopated boogie rhythm and quirky lead style where he comes out of the gates blazing with big pinch harmonics, and that syncopated Texas boogie rhythm guitar (Tush, La Grange, Just got paid, Cheap Sun Glasses and those Texas Boogie style riff based tunes is all over the first several album. Hell, hot for teachers verse lick is La Grange a little faster, bottoms up, take your whiskey home, mean streets, Somebody Get Me a Doctor, I am the One is an evolution of Gibbons as far as swagger, tone, use of solos that sometimes have a specific chord progression akkey just for that part of the song. For the lead to stand out in a power trio you often have to arrange the lead as a different section distinct from the basic chord structure of the tune in order to have the lead work make a statement because a simple jam over implied chords covered by a repeating bass pulse is not going to sound inspired in such a sparse chord environment so the old standard licks will only work well for guys who play like SRV And have a bassist like Tommy Shannon who fills more gaps than Dusty or Michael Anthony.

AT their height, they were a tuff act to follow. Seen em in New Orleans when they recorded Fandango, Baton Rouge, Birmingham Alabama, Eldorado Arkansas and at Tulane Stadium on the Texas Tour in mid 70s A major riot with the police broke out that day when they announced Skynyrd was gonna be a no show. The NOPD definitely got the worst of that deal. ZZOP as usual rocked
