These are the reasons why this movie disrespects everything Black Panther stood for and why I didn't like the film as much as you did. I ain't crying over nothing. I knew this would be trash when they act like they can't recast the FREAKING STAR OF THE MOVIE BLACK PANTHER. The Black Man vs Black Woman Propaganda was obvious from the poster. Now since when is a character killed off and they act like they can't recast? How many Batman? How many Jokers? How many Spiderman? How many Hulks? Disney is trash!!

One huge problem I had with the ending was this man T’Challa had a secret son who was raised in hati away from wakanda but was mad as fuck when his daddy killed his uncle and left N’jadaka fatherless in Oakland ain’t no way T’Challa would have done that this is an inconsistency that ruined the the heart of BP and makes the point of the 1st film pointless if he did the same shit his daddy did

The problem with this movie is that this is not the original screenplay and script that Ryan Coogler wrote. When Ryan finished the original script, he was so excited to give it to Chadwick to get his opinion on it. But Chadwick refused to read it because he knew that he wasn't going to be around long enough to play King T'Challa anymore. That was massive bomb drop on Ryan because he had no idea that Chadwick's health condition was that severe. Then Chadwick passed away several months later. Now Ryan has to rewrite the entire screenplay and script from the beginning to make a plot that makes sense given that Chadwick is no longer with us. So the whole thing was rushed. You are correct Jody, this movie was not a good Black Panther movie and I bet you the original screenplay and script was 10x better with Chadwick in the movie as King T'Challa. But I still give Ryan props for being able to rewrite everything a complete this project despite his friend and leading actor passing.

The complaint I have is riri Williams they don’t give any reason for her building the Ironman suit like at least say a one liner that people are trying to cancel her for recreating stark tech or that her idol was Tony stark instead she felt forced. And I still think killmonger should of made a pact with namor to take over wakanda but when tchalla dies they team up together to face a new threat in dr doom imo

How about the fact that Namor ran a vibranium spear through her gut and she didn’t die but she couldn’t save her brother. Also T’challa did the same thing to Kilmonger but he died.

Killing off Killmonger, Black Panther and now Ramonda were HUGE mistakes IMO. It just feels like a big waste of both Michael B Jordan and Angela Basset's talent, and I agree that they should have just recasted T'Challa. I know the sudden death of Boseman put them in a hard place, but anything would have been better than what we got. Also, Riri Williams, Everett Ross and Julia Louis-Dreyfus should have been completely cut out of this movie.

When adapting a comic book character and their storyline into live action film, I understand that you have to add in some creativity to make it interesting, think of it like signing your signature on a product you own but most producers just stray too far from what a character actually looks like to the point that it feels like it's somebody else rather than a person they are actually trying to depict.

After I watch this rant. I’m gonna go watch Jody’s Wonder Woman 2 review. I want to see if he trashes Patty, like he’s trashing Ryan Coogler.

I think they should've gone the direction of Shuri synthesizing the heart shaped herb from T'Challa and Killmongers DNA from the very beginning after the funeral and have Queen Romanda be the Black Panther for the first two acts then have Queen Romanda die in combat against Namor instead of drowning. Finally have Shuri request Okoye to train her for a year and then take the second heart shaped herb that was synthesized from Killmongers DNA which would explain a lot better why she saw him through the ancestral plan.

Literally Tchallas death and his actions while he was king caused the entire plot to happen as well as the internal lack of trust with okoye getting kicked out. It felt like every character was trying to just get their shit right because he was gone. Don’t understand the perspective

Shuri forgot that she has the ability to cryo-freeze T'Challa while she looks for a cure. If only Bucky could've reminded her.

I thought the theme and the story was very clear, and choices made in this movie actually made sense unlike other movies, what i’m getting is that jody jus wanted to see this movie for the black panther fights and action instead of good storytelling and character development, this movie tackles on Grief and how we deal with that grief, and Ryan did a really good job on how most experience grief of losing someone very close too them.

As someone who incredibly enjoyed this movie I appreciate you always keeping it real even if it means going against the crowd.

32:16 Mayan warriors frequently fought as Namor did, also, he's as invulnerable as Luke Cage. Bullets and regular steel can't harm his flesh, it takes more exotic metals like Vibranium, Adamantium, the stuff Thor's Hammer is made out of, maybe. So Namor doesn't wear amour because, 1. Mayan's often didn't, and 2. he normally can't be injured!

I know you said you liked Nakia having a son but wouldn’t that go against everything T’Challa set up in the first movie but being angry at his father for leaving Kilmonger in Oakland and not bringing him home after he killed his father.

6/10. Couldn't buy Shuri as black Panther. Couldn't take her seriously, she intimidating at all. It was kinda jarring. Can't wait for them to grow up lil T'challa so he can take that. She still feels like the little sister. She can be a great side character, but she's not nearly good enough to carry a movie let alone the Black Panther mantle. Killmonger would have been amazing, if they went down that redemption route. It was setup perfectly from the bury me in the ocean from the last film. Shoutout Black Panther 1, definitely better for me.

This movie is a C- for me... I would put it at a D+ but the only reason why I wouldn't is because of some of the visuals.

I have mixed emotions on the movie. I agree with a lot of this review disagree with some too, but I just want to comment on Aneka and Ayo. Unfortunately that ball was dropped with these two characters because they are actually in a relationship in the comics and they actually are the midnight angel not Okoye. But Queen Ramonda had a part in their storyline but she’s gone so we won’t get to see it.

Like I talked with Jody the other day, and I told him I hadn’t seen the film yet, due to a lot of personal and emotional losses this year. However, listening to your spoiler talk (which I don’t mind) and the concept of the artificial heart-shaped herb got me thinking about the movie Superman III and the artificial kryptonite Richard Pryor's character created and how that had massive side effects on Clark / Superman. So one would think, being that the heart-shaped herb is now artificial, that it would have side effects similar to that of artificial Kryptonite. Where it would’ve been cool to see not necessarily a one for one to that of Superman III, but a side effect knowing that the “medication” she’s taking is generic and not “brand name,” if you know what I mean and hopefully, there could be some cool stories later on based off of that. Although I don’t want to see Shuri fight herself in a junkyard ::wink::wink:: Although a quest to find the real mother nature version of the heart-shaped herb could also be a cool story, as another version of the heart-shaped herb has to exist, at least a variant version (right?) Again I haven’t seen the movie yet, but what the fellas were talking about regarding the “artificial” heart-shaped herb got me thinking about Superman III, and my mind was like, “HEY! that sounds familiar….” PS, have a fun Saturday watching the film again, and have a great rest of the weekend too. ::HUGS::

I'm getting tired of vibranium being a lazy plot device. I miss when it was just a cool impact-absorbing, strong metal, with some sonic applications. Now it's like a freaking magic metal that can cure diseases, is a light source, and energy source, can bond with cells. I guess Ultron is partly to blame for his whole spiel about, "This is the most versatile substance on the planet and you use it to make a frisbee."

I thought Namor could have had a kill chamber underwater to punish his people. They would toss Shuri in there and she would find out that it’s full of the herb she was looking for. It kills Talucan people.

See if I was given the job to make that Film, First of All, I would have Re-casted Black panther, I would have Brough in Dr victor von Doom as the Main villain, At the beginning of the Film I would have King Challa Fight Dr.Doom, Challa Dies a hero death, which gives a Revenge Motive to the Film, have a Funeral, Have Dr doom troops going after the Vibrian in the Ocean, which will introduce Namor to the Film, have a Conflict with Wakanda and Namor, Then introduce the new Black panther that Unnights Wakanda and Namor Troops to take on Dr. Doom. That would have saved the Film. with Namor and black panther Fighting together against a powerful Dr doom. That would have been a Better sequel.

These are my thoughts about the movie. Please don’t be hateful or disrespectful if you decide to respond to my comment. I chose not to read any comments or reviews prior to watching the movie, so that my movie watching experience isn't ruined by what I read on the internet. I really just want to go into the movie theater with a clean slate and enjoy the movie. Even if I don’t enjoy the movie, my opinion won’t be based on what movie critics or friends have said about the movie. After watching the movie, I really enjoyed it with my husband! It's a perfect tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman. The first 10 minutes of the movie was when I almost burst out crying. I love how the movie explores grief and loss, since the actors were probably using their real-life emotions about the loss to play their characters. So the acting in this movie felt raw and authentic. Angela Basset was sooo good in this movie, she needs an award for her performance. Namor was a great casting choice, I was rooting for him even though he’s the antagonist in the movie. Was it a perfect movie? No. Riri williams and Everett Ross weren't necessary in the movie, they killed off a main character which wasn't necessary to do that, and it's not very realistic to have a certain person take on the black panther suit without any formal training and she somehow knew how to fight instantly. And I'm not sure about the big reveal in the mid-credit scene, seems like they wrote that in after Chadwick's death. However, was it a good movie? Yes. I would definitely watch it again. I also try to put myself in the shoes of people that actually know Chadwick Boseman. If I'm close to him and I worked with him in the first black panther movie, would I be ok with him being recasted so soon? Given how much losing a loved one can take awhile to heal, I wouldn't want to recast him so soon. I think Letitia Wright even said in an interview that making this movie was very therapeutic for her and it's like writing a love letter to Chadwick. Marvel probably asked Chadwick’s widow for her feedback about recasting him. She hasn’t publically disapprove the movie, so perhaps she was happy with how they honored her late husband in the movie. Just a guess. Finally, I'm open to recasting black panther in the future. After watching this movie, I have let go of my grief for Chadwick and I’m ready to see more black panther in future films and see a new person in the role. The person that took the mantle in this film was only for temporary purposes. We need black panther back in the MCU!

I just watched the movie last night with my friends and I was not 100% satisfied. This movie had too much going on. It’s like they put two different movies in one movie. The only thing that was good about the movie was the visuals and the action scenes. This movie could have been done better with a better story. Also why wasn’t Bucky at the funeral or the Avengers? Do you not think they should have been there to say goodbye?

I actually thought it would be okuelle that was gonna die in the namor attack and not the Angela basset. I thought it was gonna go down like this, during the attack she is like I have to make this right I have to protect the Queen I have to save her and the people of wakanda. Cause the dormulage is out fighting the non Atlanteans leaving their home base in protect she would get there in enough time running just to happen to push the Queen out of harms way and protect ree ree and gets killed by namor throwing his spear. With shuri seeing it all as well. As she dies holding the queens hand and her last few words the Queen and her forgive one another and reconcile their friendship before she passes. This would also forshadow her husband returning later on in another movie as a Villian stricken from grief of her lost.

I was disappointed with this movie. The trailer had my expectations high. The story to me felt rushed and some of the costume design felt unimaginative. The things that should have been highlighted weren’t. And, I hate that Angela Basset’s character died like she did. You don’t kill off more characters when you are already struggling to produce a completely new film than what was originally planned. That’s my take. Side note; I would love to see you review Amazon Prime’s The Peripheral.

I like this movie. Little too long for my taste but i had fun. Namor was ok not great though. We need it T chala for sure however i think shuri was ok as black panther. I agree with jody i was hoping we could have seen so much more from Talocan the under the ocean nation. Atlantis was so much better in my opinion. They should have cast t chala in my opinion and make the movie mire focused and compact. 6 out of 10 for me. I liked it but didt love it. Just saw the movie and it has it's negatives but overall I thought it was really good. The whole Talocan having their own Vibranium was trash, but it would have been cool if Talocan had Adamantium instead, to combat Wakanda's Vibranium or some variation of Anti Metal (Antarctic Vibranium. A modified version of Vibranium that's capable of melting other metals, including Vibranium and Adamantium). And that could be a great way to plant the seeds to introduce Wolverine in the MCU.
