I'm back with a riff on how to educate/parent children under the age of 5, waldorf Styles.
I don't claim to be perfect, but I do offer some ideas and insights into what our little ones are going though and how to meet them with Handwork and how we structure our days.
A more detailed series of videos will follow :)
"One needs to recognize that in children's imitation, in all their sense-directed activities, moral, and Spiritual forces are working - artistic impulses that allow the child to respond in an entirely individual way" Rudolf Steiner from The Child's Changing Consciousness. .
I find in the circles I run in a great respect for the individuality of the child. But how do we respect and give space to that individual spirit while also providing children with a sense of security and structure. Our children look to parents and teachers for boundaries. Boundaries and routines are essential for them to feel safe enough to discover who they are. .
Children are not adults in tiny bodies. Their Consciousness is very different. They have a different relationship to the world around them. And when we as adults do the work to try and understand the Consciousness of the child we are lead to making the right choices in regards to their 'education'. .
By being adults who are worthy of imitation and giving them the opportunity to participate in our work (gardening, housework, caring for others) we can also give them the space to express their individual spirit. How will they digest the experiences of their day and bring it into their play? Well that is determined by their individual nature. .

We have the task of providing them with 'good nutritional' experiences that they digest and transform in their play. Which in turn influences the way they grow and develop as they get older

So many great suggestions. And those books are fantastic I always go back to " you are your child's first teacher. I recently got seven times the sun. Im always on the look out for good steiner/Waldorf inspired books. As always thank you for your videos 🌻🌻

How do you recommend interacting with a child who, when given the opportunity to be near what you're doing, or involved with an activity, immediate tries to break items, undo what you are doing forcefully, or just to stop you doing what you're doing? I've tried to include without instructing, remove expectations, etc... but I am increasingly frustrated with the chaotic response...and I feel more and more at a loss.

I'm not sure of the exact dynamics between you and your child, but is there a possibility that he is wanting a more direct connection with you? Perhaps sitting in your lap? Singing and rocking, playing finger games together? Or you can invite your child to do large motor movements to get the wiggles out before settling down to more quiet activities with you.
