⏺ SEJILA MOUNTAIN
Sejila Mountain is located on the southeast of Bayi Town. You won't miss it while driving on the Sichuan-Tibet Highway through Nyingchi. It is a famous landmark on Nyingchi section of G318. The Sejila Mountain Pass is 4,728 meters above sea level, with a wide field of vision.
⏺ CHINA NATIONAL HIGHWAY G318
Shanghai-Nyalam Highway, is an ordinary highway in China and one of the horizontal lines of China's national road network. The number is G318. The starting point is Huangpu District, Shanghai, and the end point is Nyalam County, Shigatse City, Tibet Autonomous Region. The total distance is 5,476 kilometers.

A lot of traffic on this road, as it is the main one to Tibet from Eastern China. Is there an expressway planned on this route? The pass is spectacular, you climbed about 1700m from Nyingchi on the scenic road. Thanks for sharing, greetings from a road-tripper from Germany!

Yes. There is already a section of G4218 expressway between Yaan and Kangding. The section between Kangding and Xinduqiao is under construction, and the section between Xinduqiao and Nyingchi is planned. Construction work of the Xinduqiao-Nyingchi section will have to conquer extremely difficult terrain and geology conditions. Actually the whole planned route of G4218 is much longer: it spans all the way from Yaan to Yecheng, which means the whole route of this G219 -- G318 series will eventually be covered by expressway, although it is a very long-term plan.
