Join us for a detailed walk through of the EXTERIOR of our New Ranger Tug . This is part 1 of a 2 part video . It got so darn long we had to break it up into 2 parts! This is a real life tour and we show you how things work and evolve as we live onboard the boat in the Bahamas. Check out the INTERIOR walkthrough in Episode 34.

LOL, your tackle box is bigger than the cleaning supply box. :) Thanks for sharing your walkthrough, I do live vicariously through your videos, thanks!

You are most welcome Robert....and yes, you are very observant, the tackle box, fly fishing gear, rods and reels do take up a fair bit of space but it is our main source of entertainment and even food supply while onboard. BTW cleaning too much is not good for your health , or so we have heard. The snack bin is also pretty full ( just saying!!!)

Another great video! Your walkthrough really shows the amount of storage space this size “trailerable” boat has to offer. You mentioned a possible lithium upgrade. I’m doing the same. You might want to give Epoch Marine battery a look. We love our R25. Thanks again.

Thanks . We just recently did a battery upgrade. Waiting for The next round to do lithium. Details will be in an upcoming video. We are very happy with the decision to upgrade. A bit longer to charge , but many more hours of use .

A few Q's for you, please: On a rough passage and/or rainy day, do the cockpit sole lockers stay dry inside? Which autopilot did you choose that you are installing now? Easy peasy DIY or difficult? What anchor line & chain sizes are you using? Can you offer an estimated NMPG figure for the 250 when on plane? And what wake-reduced hull speed does she have? Thanks for both these 'boat show' videos. As I mentioned in the Interior walk thru comment, we're considering a Cutwater 248 and both styles are a marvel of thoughtful engineering. Small cabin class 'motorboats', back in the 50's and 60's, used to be widely popular & relatively affordable. Don't know why that isn't true today.

Hi Jack, the port, starboard and centre cockpit lockers stay bone dry. in any condition. So far.. We are planning on installing the same autopilot as the ranger comes with. Garmin. It will not be fun. We are still using the same ground tackle that the boat came with. We did replace the bruce anchor with a rockna. At 29 knots I get 1.6 mpg. She makes a 1.5 foot wake when its fully loaded.

Thanks for the tour and all the inspiration. You both (or more) spend a LOT of time on the boat, how or why did you choose the 25" vs a slightly larger Ranger option?
@expeditionseanest

Hi Don, sorry for the late reply. During covid our biz took a huge hit. WE sold a lot of our stuff to afford the R25 and we just could not afford the R27. We would have to buy a larger vehicle to pull it. We are very happy with the R25. And now that we can afford to upgrade we have decided to stick with the R25. It pulls like a dream on the Hwy.

We didn’t order Radar on our R-23, either, but have installed it. Wouldn’t order one without it again. As I’m sitting here at the marina in Southport, NC, fog is rolling in.

Yes! We are now trying to get the auto pilot installed, and in hindsight probably should have ordered both the radar and auto pilot right from the start. We just had to try to stay within the budget when we purchased it new. Oh well.....

What is the brand of the dinghy engine storage mount that you are using. And how did you install it. Looks like you have a steel plate supporting the fiber glass on the inside or the small storage closet
@expeditionseanest

Richard, you are correct on the dinghy mount installation . Check out Episode 10 for details. We purchased it years ago in BC from a marina. Cannot remember the name....so sorry .

I am just planning something similar in size and shape . According factory web site , dry ( no engine , no fluids) weight is 6500lbs. Do you have any estimation what is your real ( out of harbor) cruise weight ? Full tanks, cruise provisions , gear ? And , what is cruising speed with Y250? And , if not confidential, what is prop-size pushing all that ?
@expeditionseanest
@expeditionseanest Ай бұрын
6500lbs includes the 250 hp outboard. We are very heavy in the water because all the equipment dive gear, etc. Really can't give you an accurate weight. Sorry.
@brewbob1231

I am curious to find out how you would operate the emergency outboard. I assume that you would have to operate it from the stern of the boat, that it does not have steering or throttle controls hooked to it to operate from the cockpit. Whats the plan there if I may inquire?
@expeditionseanest
@expeditionseanest Ай бұрын
We set the throttle and lock the steering and use the 250hp to steer. If in tight surroundings I would trim up the 250 and steer with the 9.9hp
@StansWorld
@StansWorld 7 күн бұрын
Yea takes a 20 hp 4 stroke to do the same job the Mercury will do and its wise to have a USA made Ole Tech Engine to Back up the Pot Metal Over rated Yamahas, Yamahas built their reputation on 2 cycle engines their 4 strokes are extremely weak.
