You know we love doing those walkthrough videos and that's the main reason why we are delighted to share today with you this visit of our good neighbour Akrivia in the old town of Geneva.
Their workshop is really next door to us and I hope you will enjoy this cool visit with Akrivia founder Rexhep Rexhepi, one of the most interesting fresh brands with an incredibly high level of finishing and commitment to the type of watchmaking we love.

As i mentioned before I love this sort of indepth videos on the craft. I can't thank you enough for giving insight in this. It is very inspiring to know that it is actually possible to make something from scratch. Sometimes you forget this in this hightech world of CNC, lasercut and 3D-print world. And this sort of videos brings one back. Thanks again!!

It is really really cool to see today people using those hand operated machine. Don't get me wrong I do appreciate a top of the line 5 axis (or more) CNC machine. There is a time and place for everything. But to see the old machines still in use, that is just amazing. As on operator you really have to develop that fingerspitz gefühle. Today that is rare.

I am pretty sure, that he still gets the movement parts from an outside partner using CNC. Nothing wrong with that. Roger Smith uses CNC and Dufour got his movement parts for the Simplicity from outside CNC as well.

Not to take away from the great watch brands that use very high tech cnc machines but I have a deeper appreciation and love for these types of high-end time pieces made the old way w/ lathes and hand tools from the past. Its the reason I love old Pocket Watches from both the U.S and Switzerland w/ such beautiful movements , as Hamilton's cal. 922 & 923 or Cortebert"s 618 which Rolex and Panerai used. Therers so many others!

Have heard this name many many times in various watch discussions but it was quite surprising to meet this young gentleman who actually started quite early. And what is interesting is to know about his future vision which I am sure a very positive decision. No matter how many watches Rolex makes every year but the demand of handmade watches will grow more and more over time. Thanks Marc for presenting one of the most valued persons in present watch making and well expecting part 2 with more of his creations.

And you hit a good point and one that illustrates very nicely how right he is about his vision: he’s organized in a way which is comfortable for him and his team resulting in a maximum production capacity he knows and doesn’t want to go beyond. I find this admirable in a world where eternal growth is seen as the norm

What a great video. Super cool content. Always love your videos. I always watch your channel on the tv and can not comment there. First time to respond here. In November I was in Geneva for the auctions. I saw the guys walking around in the city during to the auctions to meet people, check watches at the viewing days etc and I also passed by their workshop. They are really passionate and they fit in the romantic idea of true craftsmanship. The shop is located in a beautiful part of the city. The whole shop breaths craftmanship. Their watches are really stunning. For me personally it is still out of my league, so I felt a bit shy walking by their shop as a true fan boy. I didn't want to waste their precious time by doing some small talk. For me this is as a good as it gets when you consider independent watchmaking. And these guys are very humble and kind.

I've heard the name Akrivia a few times but now it has meaning! You've really outdone yourself with the last two videos. You're getting close to the real "insides" of the watch industry and taking us along which most channels don't/can't do. Your style is simple and sincere , up close and personal (as they used to say) Do you know where he's from? Albania/Kosovo?

Great video, as with the others, I do love the walkthroughs. Noticed he has a Schaublin lathe, very nice indeed. But it was interesting that he started out sub-contracting his parts to now beginning to make them in house. It's easier to control quality I know and you can usually produce parts cheaper, but I was wondering what his reason was. Cost of machine tools perhaps (because they're so expensive) or is it just a change of principle as he's progressed?
