And here we go for the second part of our documentary approach following the making of Greubel Forsey's Hand Made 1 timepiece. So, basically they are doing what Roger Smith does everyday! Wonderful to see them keeping alive as Roger does, traditional hand making.

Just the idea of making a screw that size....I've "screwed" up cleaning a bolt with a die on a 10mm size....that one screw is a fraction of that. Mind blowing.

I always kind of got why the expensive stuff is so expensive, aside from brand names, heritage and all of that, but sometimes it still didn't add up. Now it makes complete sense. Incredible.

The last 10% of refinement and finishing to absolute dimensions is probably 90% of the time involved.

Beautiful craftsmanship - beautiful work - but what are we looking at? A watch! I buy my watches and carry them to look at them and read the time - if there is so much of everything going on that I can't read the time - well why in the world would I want something like that and carry it around with me? It is all about time and being able to read time, every thing else is craftsmanship - design - beauty of the object - but I have never had someone ask me "How beautiful is your watch now I think I'm late"
