A cross dressing, homosexual Cardinal? I had to back that up and listen to it again. I had to laugh out loud at that one! 😂

Its hard to see how either if them could have got out of the trap they had put themselves in. They had no intellectual reserves or interests.

Wallis was horrible to the Duke in his final years on earth, but she got her comeuppance. Read about the final years of Wallis Simpson, "The Last of the Duchess: The Strange and Sinister Story of the Final Years of Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor” by Caroline Blackwood. It's not a long book and I read it over 2 days because I could NOT put it down.

David was horribly abused by his father, who was very critical and cold. I'm not sure about his mother, but probably no support there.

All the children were treated coldly - George VI's stammer had its origins in extreme nervousness. His mother supported her husband in dealings with the children so nannies were very important.

That was the norm for the times , life was much tougher then , harsh discipline , stand tall and be a man , the intricacies of their upbringing are hard for the sensitivities of modern people who have the exact opposite to an excessive degree .

This is what happens to people, regardless of the Continent you are on, when they choose to have no purpose or direction in their lives. Morality and all sense of real self respect devolves into heathenism 😂. Elsa Maxwell, interesting character. I believe she was the party master used by the upper echelon to create fun at various gatherings. If I'm wrong let me know.

She was the original Hostess With The Mostes’ and much later a gossip columnist as well. Hotels and even cities hired her to make them a desirable destination for the super wealthy of the day.

I read something about Wallis that was interesting, considering her body which would be a congenital condition. I can't go into it but if you want to know look it up.

Many wealthy socialite women then (and still) have very close Gay friends who they do everything with. They were called "walkers" . I find very unlikely that Wallis was sleeping with Jimmy Donahue. Wallis was trapped into that marriage to a baby man bore. I don't blame her a bit for having some fun.

I’m a member of lower class have friends or family to dinner we know how to lay a table,if somebody behaved like him he would have been removed and never invited again. I’m in my fifties and have never met a person like him. I found what you said offensive.

I don't think she meant ALL people. But trashy behavior when there's no purpose to life.
