Yeah me too, but in a way it would feel like a bleak imitation if they chose someone with the same style as her. More realistic in a way. It would never be her, and here they go the totally other way around and makes it maybe even more fun with Quentine. But i agree it is surprising.

Perhaps they wanted to appeal to those who were fans of Roald Dhal too. We shouldn’t be putting down another artist just because it is not Beatrix. He might have been a huge fan of hers and put a lot of heart into his work although they were in his style and not hers.

A wonderful documentary save for the shocking let-down at the end. The rendering of Kitty in Boots, crude and grotesque, is beyond disappointing -- it's heartbreaking. Perhaps appropriate to the work some other writer, but not Beatrix Potter. An illustrator should have been found who was capable of replicating Potter's style -- not only as a fitting homage to Potter, but out of respect for her readers who derive so much joy from the delicacy and faithfulness with which she portrayed the beauty of animals.

I have always found Beatrix Potter’s illustrations to be whimsical and endearing. As a child, I delighted in the soft plumpness of her enchanting characters. They were adorable in petticoats, buttons and bonnets. I admired the beautiful details, such as the pink foxgloves gracing a walkway, or the expressions, the innocence and surprise so perfectly painted on the beloved characters. I treasure her imagination. Her art and storytelling enabled me to enter into a magical place for a time , to a place where puddle ducks wear pinafores and a frog goes fishing for minnows on a lily pad boat. I hope that the admiration for the precious innocence of Beatrix Potter’s tales and her delightful illustrations is never lost in this, now, cold, confused, offended and offensive, solecistic, and rapidly changing world.

I happen to like Mr. Blake's artwork, but in all honesty, I think Beatrix would be very upset to see that he was chosen to illustrate such an important book. Not only is his style completely incompatible with her body of work, so as not to even offer an homage to such a titan of the literary and Illustration world, but I believe she also would have wanted a female illustrator to be chosen. Also, his style definitely would not appeal to the majority of Beatrix Potter fans... Unfortunately that's the one of her books that I won't be purchasing 😔🐿️🐇🦉

@@heathercolston5306 yes, definitely a female and a more similar style. Those of us who love her books, love them very much for the illustrations and the unique and very stylish world she created. Quentin Blake's illustrations are too different. Those two have two very different fan groups. Unfortunately, the publishers had upset many people with their choice. The obvious choice for me was Jill Barklem. She was still alive when the manuscript for Kitty in Boots was found. Her style was very suitable, and similar. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jill Barklem (born Gillian Gaze; 23 May 1951 - 15 November 2017) was a British writer and illustrator of children's books. Her most famous work is the Brambly Hedge series, published from 1980.
