We purchased a sawmill from Harbor Freight a few weeks ago and we finally derived a plan to get it assembled and functional on our property. The sawmill we picked was the 301cc sawmill made by Central Machinery and we come up with a clever way to level it with a few nuts and bolts. This episode also shows servicing the RK24 tractor for the first time and putting it back to work with 16 tons of gravel for our driveway.

❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 I was going to say a few things about cutting and storing the wood but this video is over three years old so I have to assume you have come a long way in that amount of time. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

"Pioneer way of doing things..." Yep, a 4wd tractor & a sawmill. Seriously, if they'd had tools like this they'd have used them for sure! I started out with a mill about the size of your HF, and once I got sawdust in my veins, there was no turning back! There are some good videos about stacking lumber to air dry that you might want to check out. Two concerns are that the stack appears to be in a closed in space without good air movement (you could use fans, since it is already stacked), and that the stickers aren't lined up. The weight of the stack should be transferred straight down through the stickers to avoid warping the lumber as it dries.

Hi Dave! I really need to get some power out to the old barn to plug in some fans, as you suggested. Lining up the spacers makes sense too. That's an easy change. I really appreciate the tips coming from someone with your experience.

@@WalnutsandWineberries Looks like you're off to a great start! You're welcome to contact me if I can be any help. I bet once you get electricity out to the barn, you'll be putting up lights, too.

Always start your drilling with a pilot bit and use a little oil when drilling holes in steel. You'd be surprised how much easier the drilling will go and you won't break as many drill bits.

John, eye protection, ear protection, watch the loose clothing around all machinery. Extremely excited and jealous! Lots of equipment theft in rural areas, hope you can keep it secure. Excited for all the progress. City girl is becoming a real farm hand!

NEVER dump concrete or any big rocks on top of plastic tile!!! You will be digging that back up because it will crush the plastic! Always bed the tile with clean dirt or sand!

Wow, each week brings another task....you guys look like pros! Are there any neighbors around?
@WalnutsandWineberries
@WalnutsandWineberries 3 жыл бұрын
Our closest neighbor is what the locals say, "a hollar away". Our property has a mountain ridge and the next neighbor would be way down the hill at the bottom, about half mile away. Have to say we like it that way. Peace and quiet!

You need pallet forks tractor
@WalnutsandWineberries
@WalnutsandWineberries 3 жыл бұрын
That would be nice for the big logs. I might splurge and get a grapple bucket instead. Thanks for watching!
@pstoneking3418

@@WalnutsandWineberries actually forks worked out better for me . Besides you need a third controller on your tractor to use a grappler, you loose considerable lifting capacity with a grappler because of their weight. Your view of your log is better with forks. And forks with a hook and pin are much cheaper than a grappler.

If you check I think you will find the engine on tractor is an Yanmar, napa an auto zone has filters for John Deere which uses the same engine.TYM of South Korea builds the RK! Some day you will miss those concrete blocks you broke for just fill!

Loving the Yanmar engine. They have a good reputation. It's one of the main reasons I picked that tractor. Thanks for the tip about Napa. I didn't know that. I've been getting mine from Rural King. Regarding the blocks, eh. I saved the good ones and found a use for the junky ones.
