could not of said it better myself, there defo something primal and calling about it, calling me to discover the roots of history that is within me.....makes me think some viking left me behind in a saxons belly a few thousand years ago hahahaha.

2 million years for humans to evolve with music and festivals, rituals and culture. people hunted, feasted, made a big fire and hit on those animal skin drums at night. not knowing about science, believing in gods and a purpose. that must have soaked into us over the counless generations. even if you take the recent 2000 years (and a large part of that was just as primal :D) thats only 0,1% of humanities time. no hard science, no clinical behaviour optimized for efficient production, no computers, no weird chart songs. they had nothing but voice and drums and stuff that sounded resonating and deep. must have been good times besides the lack of medicine and quite some unjust behaviour. at least it was "true" to life. eat, be eaten, kill, be killed, fuck and be fucked. the meat you ate had a life, the plants grew in a natural cycle, weather had impact on us, storms and thunder must have felt so superior and godly when we didnt have big ass houses made of stone with a rod to protect from lightning. humans still interacted with each other besides the superficial mandatoy shit we have nowadays. they came together for almost everything. today most people arent anything more but NPCs you have to interact with to get through your day. no values left. honor, loyalty, love, friendship have become abstract or superficial things you have to buy with an abstract currency or sometimes even explain to people for them to know what it originally "was". obviously not all the time, but in comparison to back then i imagine it to have changed towards that tendency at least. in the end i would have had to life back then to make actual assumptions, but what can we do but guess. at least i feel like we all agree these types of music resonated with us. maybe some inherited core-memories that are stimulated like a duck that can swim pretty much right after birth or some animals that can walk right after they are born. some hard-coded information that stayed with us. it stimulates our hormones, sometimes i get adrenaline rushes and goosebumbs from listening to this kind of stuff even if i dont understand the lyrics. just makes me feel like im about to fight smth, summon a god or march through a storm that can snap me down if it wanted to like some little twig. objectively seen its just random vibratuions in the air. so obviously it must be our sibjective associations with it. and how are we associating / resonating with it, if not from our very genetics conserved the information we accumalted over the last 2 million years.

We played this at my fathers funeral as we started the service it's a beautiful song that is so fitting and for the man that taught me so much about our ancestors and our way of life he will never be forgotten, it was the first time our local goathi had done a funeral and it turned out very well even the funeral home who is run by Catholics thought it was very beautifully done and were very respectful in allowing us to send him off the way he requested

I can see that happening, but it still doesn't make much sense. Norse saw death as indifferent and tragic, but not evil. Helheim was not a place of punishment, just a second home for those not chosen to be warriors. And I for one would rather have peace and rest than honor. I can't imagine a world where everyone think and believe the same, I guess it's up to us to learn while we walk in this path called life, to grow phisically, mentally and spiritually.
