Look, I know I harp on this topic a lot, but I think the deadlock protocol really throws into question what's going on with the original incarnations of the warframes. The sacrifice and this quest just ain't jivin, baby. At least at the time of recording this video that is... At the same time though, damn was that a fine quest! DE, please do more of this and less of... whatever it is you're doing right now.

Before the Second Dream, Tenno didn't really knew they were just "controlling" Warframes. That's why Valkyr endured tortures by Corpus, instead of just cutting transference. And in The Second Dream, when you beat the Stalker, the Tenno says "I'm confused... I thought I was...", meaning the Tenno thought they were the Warframes themselves, not just controlling them.

I was going to say... I thought I rememebered in the Second Dream that the Tenno basically admits that they had forgotten about themselves. They became lost in the dream that they were always Warframes. Or at least... most of the Tenno forgot about their past. There was so much trauma there that it became easy to accept their new life as the warriors as the Orokin. Which explains why so many of the Tenno in the Leverian or in other stories, are refered to as their Warframes as if they themselves are the Warframe. It's both because no one else knew the secret of the Tenno, and because the Tenno themselves had willingly forgotten that they weren't the Warframes.

@@MrSeals1000 Also you don't necessarily think about your clothes being separate from you, not consciously anyway, they are just a part of the concept of "you". Now add in you never take those clothes off, they are your skin, and centuries pass. What's the difference from being the warframe and operating it? Psychologically speaking, not much. It's a play on an old philosophy idea that we are all meatsack pilots IRL and forgot our splendor or some other such religious-y nonsense and babble.

For the Leverian, in universe it's basically like a museum guided tour. And we must remember besides high ranking orokin, no one else really knew about the tenno's existence really. Especially regular citizens in that case. I've always seen leverian as stories of certain tenno and their warframes, from an archaeological point of view. They don't have all the information but can make plenty of educated guesses to fill in the blanks.

The thing that makes that weird is in one particular tour (I believe this is Nova but I could be wrong) Leverian keeps constantly reminding us, insisting multiple times, that “the historical accuracy of these events has been verified” which seems like quite an odd detail especially when they hammer you over the head with it.

Or you are over thinking it. Perhaps in the spectrer creation process, they do use the template of a Warframe to make a copy. Perhaps in the copying process said Specter also takes on the mental persona of the transferred Operator too. It thus explains how the Specter is able to operate independently of the operator and Warframe. After all we know that personalities can be copied, transferred, manipulated and destroyed using Orokin tech.

i have always believed that there are tenno in all the frames . and it is not out of the question that (in terms of the acolites) they built the frames a little off from the blueprint. after all, the non prime frames are just our closest replica of the blueprint based on current resources.the gara we see was not the gara that defeated the eidolon but what we can replicate right now. same with all other non primed frames.

I actually believe that the normal frames and weapons were created around the time of the Orokin Empire, you see in the cinematic intro normal Excalibur, Volt, and Mag fighting Orokin era Grineer and Dax. The Vitruvian in the sacrifice shows a Excalibur instead of Excalibur Prime. My theory: There was lower class soldiers and higher class soldiers. The Lower more common Dax and Tenno, wielded the regular weapons and Warframes. These were more plentiful and worked around areas that the Orokin have little focus and care for, and were the most common disposables within the Old War. The Higher class Dax and Tenno, wielded upgraded or PRIME weapons or frames and were the best of the best and answered directly to the Orokin and also worked in vital Orokin areas during the height of the empire, such as the old war cinematic on Lua.

@@darkmugetsu6572 i would agree with you if it weren,t for the fact that the reason why we get primes through void relics is that it's the only way to connect that far back into the past and get the actual parts used. so i think that the cinematic using non primes is because de can't just give you a prime as your starting frame.

@@darkmugetsu6572 i like that idea and it may very well be a possibility. now there would need to be more lore to prove one way or the other. like if the primes were just the first in the assembly line and then the non primes were the mass produced version or were they multiples of both?

@@coreycorbin2387 Indeed, I would love to do stories in the Warframe universe but there never is enough lore to go around. Many of the quests around these Warframes tell major stories around regular versions after all.

Parvos says that protea is a Spector if herself so I assumed she did originally have a Tenno operating her but when she had to trap them in the thing it kinda yeeted the operator out and the warframe was set to just maintain the void and protect parvos or something like that. And for the leverian warframe I don’t think knowledge of the Tenno existing was available beyond the orokin directly dealing with them, and more recently the quills and SU, as even the stalker who was around while the Tenno were still working with the orokin and has been hunting and trying to kill them ever since didn’t know about operators untill hunhow told him

Spectres are a specific construct, the protea we face in the worst isn't actually a warframe but a spectre created by parvos from o knew of the warframes sent by the orokin to destroy his research facility (as explained in the quest) That protea was never piloted by a tenno, it's a replication of a warframe rather than a proper warframe itself. Side note, stalker was a tenno once. Period. It's said outright in the second dream. Lotus notes that part of why she maintained the second dream was that the truth of what he was and what the tenno did drove the stalker to madness, it's also made pretty clear by hunhows line: "But you're asking yourself, 'was I one of these wretched things?' You know the answer, you still hate them, you still hate yourself.' It would seem he pulled off something similar to Rell and fully transferred his mind and consciousness into the stalker warframe permanently, rejecting what he truly was in favor of 'being' the warframe rather than the operator.

@Tarak55571
@Tarak55571 4 жыл бұрын
@@Ares24320 Per the lore introduced in the sacrifice, excalibur umbra was capable of self movement due to a different kind of transference bolt used in its construction. It would seem the normal frames are typically locked up and prevented from movement unless given motive input from an operator. That said though, the quest still made it fairly clear that it was a spectre rather than a frame, and that the story of him being gifted a warframe protector by the orokin was a complete misunderstanding of the situation, as the orokin in fact sent a warframe assult team to stop his work, and he had actually baited them to do so for the sake of getting what he needed to make the protea spectre.

@@Tarak55571 so is it possible that he reverse engineered an Umbral bolt? I get the theory regarding the Orokin sending a Warframe strike team to assault his base, but at the end of his quote, he also stated that he blew up the entire base so i doubt there was anything for him to scan to make specters out of. I think Protea was an actual warframe gifted to Parvus by the Orokin as a 'truce' symbol after the base attack, but she sacrificed her physical form to save Parvus from the explosion. In the Granum void she has one, but if she leaves the void it would likely disappear.

Something just occurred to me: DeSiege, are you crafting your theories upon the assumption that the player, the operator, is the single only active Tenno in the system after Rell is gone? Because I am of the presumption that it is established that there are multiple Tenno in the system, making it lore-friendly that all of our characters exist in the actual world/system at the same time, especially with the events that require all of us to band together, and with the story behind Valkyr, where the Tenno as a community had to decide whether to save the group of Tenno Alad was keeping as he was deconstructing and stripping Valkyr. Hence, why I don't think it's surprising that the Leverian warframes were historically active, because other Tenno were actively using their warframes at the time of the recorded events, especially since it seems that gor a long time, Tenno operators were kept a secret from the general populace. I believe the same with Protea; she was a warframe gift, but it could be that the corpus leader who recieved her also didn't know that Tenno and warframes are 2 separate entities, and the same goes for a lot of the population of the system in the current timeline.
@TheDsIEGE
@TheDsIEGE 4 жыл бұрын
No, I definitely assume there are more tenno and assume the game thinks the same way... And I also think there are tenno controlling these frames, but... there's nothing in the lore actually SAYING that and furthermore, I'd like to actually see another tenno in a quest or something. Not another player, but another tenno that can kind of cement that concept into the game, and at the same time show us how other tenno are being portrayed in the system.
@platinum_noelle
@platinum_noelle 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheDsIEGE I think that would be a little tricky to pull off, mainly because if they started fleshing out more Tenno characters (aside from Rell, of course), it would reduce the credibility of the fact that the other players exist in the system as well. While they don't provide a number for how many kids were on the Zariman, I'd say the current player base definitely stretches it already. Not only that, many players play the game very differently, between fashion framing, eidolon hunting, MR grinding, etc, and all with different alignments. Any Tenno characters they introduce wouldn't be much different from the other players. I can see them adding one or two other Tenno characters, but if they were to start really building up groups of Tenno for us to quest with/for, then it would take away from the canonical community aspect of the game we already have. Again, the Zariman only had so much space, and if they flesh out each of the Tenno kids on the ship, it would make it like a MMO where only the player character technically exists in the story and the rest of the players aren't really there, effectively enforcing an idea that the play is the only Tenno active until they meet the NPC Tenno. Idk if this came out well, i'm not great at really getting what I mean across, but i just wanted to get out that from a writing aspect, when it comes to a multiplayer game like this that really does put some emphasis on group/squad playing, it's tricky to have a set lore and already stretched player cast with the specific type of character you are (Tenno), with a vaguely implied limit of such types of characters (however many kids were on the Zariman), and then start narrowing it down via NPC versions. Tbf, I think they may introduce a NPC Tenno or 2 in the Duviri Paradox, seeing as we may be entering an area where other Tenno may have been trapped outside of the system, so i don't think they'll be going into NPC Tenno much beyond that. Granted, I do think the Leverian warframes were operated by historical Tenno, but I doubt we'll be actually meeting them.

@TRISTAN KAHL I believe the nuance in the grineer is "maturity". Look at Cresa Tal, leader of the Steel Meridian. She properly talks like grineer bosses but took the decision to fight for civilians. Vor's unit is almost a splinter group that acts on their own albeit still for the kween/s. They even have prisons for cases like the Wolf who, surprisingly, wasn't just 'recycled' and remade. There's this lingering thought that once a grineer lives long enough to emotionally mature, there's this possibility they would become "military failures". A nod to their roots as Orokin soldiers alongside Warframes. 'Genetic flaw' as Tyl Regor called it. That's why he decided to "recycle" the genetic pool every once in a while to inhibit maturity and maintain their puppet-like obedience. And then there's strange cases like Clem. They are quite nuanced in more ways than we think.

I mean, a little piece of content that had me unreasonably excited were little cutscenes before fighting ropalolyst and during boarding murex (don't think the latter made it into the game and was only shown on devstream), because I'm pretty sure they are the first ones, that show not just four frames dropping into mission and glancing around, but each frame behaving differently, alluding to the fact they are all different, all exist in the same universe and all have a different tenno piloting them. I even made a bizzare theory in a dream, that it proves raids are coming back, however I forgot it. As for leverian, I think it just portrays warframes as seen from the outsider's perspective: cool dudes in sick metal armour carrying out orders of golden empire. After all, that's what an actual outsider - say, a knew player - would think. I don't know, if it's available to players from the moment they start the game, but if it is, then it's also a way to avoid spoilers. Also, I have a theory about Protea: is she in fact a warframe? Yeah, she is capable of fighting, but not quite in the same way, as Excalibur, or Vauban, or even Trinity; usually warframes are shown to interact with the battlefield personally more or less: Ex pulls a literall sword out of himself and charges into battle with it, Vauban creates a mfing orbital strike by his sheer will, Trin processes the damage she recieves from outside and transforms it into shocking impulses, however Protea doesn't really fight herself, she kust drops her turrets and dispensers, but her base doesn't actually change, she just loses parts of her equipment. In other words, it seems to me, like the equipment on Protea is definitely part of a warframe, but she herself might be - or might have been before we rebuilt her - just a walking battery to charge this fully automatic equipment, and I'm not sure, whether she would need a tenno to pilot her. After all, greedy Orokin giving greedy Parvas a fully operational warmachine simply out of the kindness of their hearts seems strange to me, however givin him something inferior, a drone with cephalite-fried brain, appearing to be the real deal with the equipment of a real warframe - now that's a scheme I would wanna see

All children aboard the Zariman Ten Zero, except for Rell, are known to the empire and heavily guarded, and they were put into the somatic link under the premise of it being a treatment for their "affliction", they were then trained by the most elite dax soldiers to become murder machines. Also, they were aboard the stranded ship for who knows how many years, and had to kill, or help to, their own parents and crew, since they went insane inside the void, so when they came out, they weren't scaredy, normal children.

What we know and can assume so far is this: Defense cryopods are basically just surrogate bodies for Lotus/The Tenno to infect and then fuse with the parts we build from the blueprints recovered in missions and quests to create our warframes. Warframes are not suits of armor,in fact, they are merely cyborgs made out of infested flesh and mechanical parts as evidenced by Alad's dialogue during the second dream when he mentions his warframe dissections, confirming there is nothing or rather no one inside them. Without a Tenno, an active warframe is mindless and sticks to its precepts of combat, we can see this in the case of Chroma, Umbra, Protea and basically all specter frames,the only difference with specters being controlled by AI instead of a Tenno. Tenno have forgotten their true form and only remember it after the second dream where we remember our training house, in the war within, teshin guides us through another dream sequence and helps us unlock more of our powers which then get more refined thanks to the quills. As for leverian frames, I think they are just the mechanicals of the frame aka not fused with the helminth cyst and thus are just mere "fossils".

@@TheDsIEGE yes, most likely with a real Tenno. That tenno, like Mirage and Limbo before them, likely died in such an unusual way that their Oro was lost, and they weren't able to just hop into a new frame - they just died with it instead. Then, using the specter particles abundant in this timelocked pocket dimension, our genius boi Parvos recreated her as a spectre - hence his protection coming at "the cost of all she was"... he's talking about her losing her personality because her tenno (which was the actual source of any personality she might have had) died, and it's now just an unfeeling specter puppet.

I never really got the impression that the frames featured in the Luverian were Tenno-less frames. I believe they are just examples of particular frames and their unspoken tenno, who achieved very particular feats that earned them a legendary status. That status then became associated with the model of frame as a whole. Like how when we think of the Fokker Tri-Plane we think "Red Baron" and vice versa. As for Protea's (and her Tenno's death), if you read the Mirage Codex Entry, and do the Quest, the Lotus speaks of how she almost forced herself to forget the literal-actual-death of that Mirage's Tenno due to the Sentients destroying her Oro. Same goes for the loss of (of a particular/perhaps the original) Limbo and their Tenno because the way in which the frame "died" was far from conventional. Think of that Bruce Wilis move 'Surrogates'. Normally a frame's destruction won't kill it's Tenno. Thats the idea, the Tenno can be re awoken in a new frame body, with their 'death' ret-conned out of their conscious mind, but retain the subconscious knowledge they gained from the experience to do better next time. After all, the Tenno thought they WERE the frames, so memory and perception manipulation is definitely possible by way of the Second Dream. They could wake up after a "death" thinking they had been salvaged and repaired, but were actually loaded into a whole new, identical, warframe body.

I think not all warframes were once soldiers, just the first prototypes. As we know, the first prototypes got feral (like umbra) and maybe later on they were able to manufacture frames only using the helminth. I mean, it's kind of impractical to have two people operating the same thing, specially when you consider it's mass production. Another thing that may prove that is the way we manufacture warframes in our forge: It's very likely that the helminth in the orbiter is responsible for building the organic parts of the frames (it even calls us masters when we have a frame, maybe because we command them to craft frames?) Anyway, I feel like that would make more sense.

Here is what I think is going on. First all if not most original frames were once people as revealed in The Sacrafice and while they were reduced to animalistic intelligence with no memories of who they were and were in pain from all the crap they went through. But partnering with the Tenno I think they evolved in a way. They grew beyond their animalistic instincts and some of them regained their sentience. These evolved frames are like Umbra. They can operate on their own and have free will. Examples include the Gara who protected Cetus and fell in love with the Unam. ( Which would be gross any other way not because lesbian love story because it would involve a CHILD) The Inaros who protected the Sand people on Mars. The Grendel who according to Leverian was active after the collapse of the Orokin empire when the Tenno went into cryo. And last Protea. It is subtly applied that Parvos had feelings for which like the Gara example would be ew if it was any other way. Second all new warframes (or at least the ones we interact with) constructed instead of converted. When we make a new frame we don't go kidnaping some pore Grineer or Corpus. We find blueprints, we find resources, we build the chassis; systems; and nuero-optics one at a time and then put it all together. Quite a different process then what the Orokin used? Do you really think the "bleeding heart" Tenno would agree to repeating these "experiments". I think Lotus and her children worked to find alternative methods. In the Helminth room on the orbiter there is a Warframe sized pod in the back. I think we build the other stuff in the old foundry and Helminth puts the thing together while providing parts of himself for the bio part of the bio-mechanical. Or he uses the fish. I don't know but point is our new frames are blank slates which leads to why our amnesic characters believe we are the frames until the second dream at least. Third, to most of the Origin system, Tenno are one and the same. The only ones who know the true difference are Lotus, the Tenno post second dream, any surviving Orokin, and the syndicates/ colonies we interact on a daily bases like Steel Meridian and Fortuna. The syndicates/colonies may not know what the Tenno are but they see Tenno in different Warframes all the time, even in vastly different shapes and genders. So Mr. Leverian probably believes in this misconceptions or continues to spread it for his own reasons. So the stories about Ash, Ivara, and Gauss are actually Tenno controlled frames but he calls them by the type of the frame and not by the name of the Tenno. Who knows some of those stories are about our amnesiac Tenno.

It's also possible that not having actual means of controlling the warframes was considered a failure. Ballas mentioned that some of the people turned to warframes were volunteers. Perhaps these people remained loyal to the orokin for a while - and then went berserk or rebelled. Maybe the infestation was eroding their minds, or perhaps they learned what assholes the orokin were (check Ivara's leverian to see what I'm talking about).

Its explained in the quest that the protea in the quest basically burnt out saving parvos and left an imprint in the warframe, an imprint that became a function specter upon scanning a working warframe. Interestingly enough this could tie parvos to other warframe incidents as the quests says he got buddy buddy with the orokin for inventing specter tech. the second dream shows us a warframe can act in dependently in a limited circumstances, the sacrifice shows us that gen 1 warframes where people converted into frames via the helminth, the solar rails show us warframe specters that retain the ability speak, The Titania quest shows us transference is not limited to warframes or tenno (though not with out issues) Titania & harrow quest shows us transference can be used to bind a person to a place or frame in a powerful way. keeping this in mind I do not feel the Protea quest presents any inconsistency as it seems to line up thematically to me & I personally havent seen any stated facts the directly conflict with one another. wasnt sure where to fit this in the paragraph above but the Orokin love to clone stuff, they are really really good at it. i believe that gen 1 warframes like umbra are first made as templates & then these templates are cloned (tho umbra himself was made as a punishment not a template), this could also explain prime and non prime frames. Prime frames not being gen 1 frames like umbra but instead being as close to the original as possible, the golden standard warframes both able to act as a template for reproduction & hold the right appearance to operate in high orokin society while non primes where relegated to colony's, the extra flair reserved for the golden lords on high. as for stalker there are a few possibility's, he could be an original person turned warframe who was both loyal to the orokin & able to exert self control as a warframe. developing hatred for the tenno after they betrayed the orokin or some similar situation. I do feel how ever think that there is a better explanation, In the second dream it is mentioned that the stalker went mad after finding out the truth of the dream and the lotus was trying to protect us from that knowledge for fear we would react the same way, now that we know lotus was being controlled by the orokin it is likely stalker not only found out the truth of the dream but also lotus, From here its hard to say what happened after this point for the stalker & it remains unseen if stalker is controlling their warframe from a distance like we do or is bound to it like rel. I do feel I can explain stalkers hate for us, the second dream reveals to us that some very horrible stuff happened on the ten zero ship during the void jump incident also reinforced by the rel comic, such as the adults going mad and the kids sticking together and some even forming hunting parties. the stalker if indeed they are a tenno is most likely where an outsider to the main clicks of children who was against the idea of hunting parties and likely saw many people meet a horrible end, I believe this would explain why every message from the stalker places consequences on our actions & describes every boss kill as murder when he comes to attack. stalker sees the tenno as individuals of power who no one can realistically hold accountable. The stalker most likely hates us for the events aboard the zaramin ten zero, hates the orokin for their enslavement of the tenno & the lotus in turn sympathizing with hunhow trying to put his family back together something the stalker cannot do for them self. Stalkers acolytes probably follow a similar pattern & upon finding out the truth after being awoken from lua they join the stalkers quest for justice / revenge. The leverian story's from what i understand are stories about warframes from outside perspective with out knowledge of true tenno (as others have mentioned) its also worth remembering there is a period of time in the old war where the orokin are in control of lotus & in turn the tenno in the dream, This is most likely time period where the leverian story's come from.

Excalibur Umbra demonstrated the ability to act, rather intelligently on its own. Furthermore we also had our tenno forget that he even was something outside of the warframes themselves. Leverian frames were tenno operated. As for Protea, the Warframe turned into a specter when she made the loop. Now either the Tenno's mind was sucked in the process, or he started wandering Lua. Remember those white ghost thingies strolling in some of the tileset room? This is what happens when a tenno's body is destroyed while using transferance.

I've got some contention in the form of a few simple rebuttals: 1. All warframes past Umbra require Tenno to operate, as the strain is more inhibiting than Umbra. Evidence: Ballas states Umbra acts on a single burning memory of issa's murder. 2. Tenno that are completely synchronised with their frame believe they are the frame as per not having been awoken from the dream. 3. After a period of time Tenno become transference looped with their frame, locking them inside for eternity until the frame expires, killing them too, see Harrow.

The silver grove quest alluded to the origin of the stalker, they spoke of non-tenno, transferrence and undesirable consequences. Whether bad inference or not, it seems that may be the result of how the stalker came to be. They were some kind of orikin that decided to transfer into a frame. The acolytes seem to be just mismashed frames from multiple different warframe parts. These could be either people who tried to follow the stalker's footsteps, or they could easily be specters. Hunhow's comments to the stalker during the 2nd dream cinematics seem to reinforce this, his hatred for the tenno, and wishing things to be as they once were.

I know this was made before Tenno con, but I personally believe that the reason we haven’t done the deviri paradox is because it will happen after demos, the reason being is the sentients will somehow destroy “the heart”, removing our powers and trapping us in the void, we will re discover our powers and new ones to truly be one with our frames being equally as powerful in both forms if not even more so in our Tenno form

Don't forget the lore. But like in Red Vs Blue, what is forgotten is also what can come back when least expected. Remember "memory is the key."

As for the Deadlock Protocol: I enjoyed it, I found the final boss fight quite challenging. However, besides the fact that the orokin gave Parvis a frame, and the fact that he ended up on a void-esque state, there isn't much of a difference with other frame's quests, sure, they expand a little the lore of the WF Universe, but that's it. However, and this is a fan-quest of mine, the whole 'The orokin gave someone a frame' part is definitively interesting, since I've been having this theory on my head about a fanquest, that goes essencially like this: The void has insane similarities with the 'Force' from Star Wars, with it being a mythical force we don't know much about, with the Corpus being essentially the Empire and the Tenno being like Anakin controled by a Palpatine/Natah. So my fanquest is about a "clone" situation with the whole idea being that between the Corpus akd the Grineer, they manage to reverse engineer the Warframes, and so they manage to create a Warframe like unit (like SW's clones) and they use it to go against the Tenno (we don't know for sure if CorpusVGrineer is actually a thing). So, considering that, essemtially we get to get a Grineer and a Corpus manufactured frame that is less powerful than actual frames when used by these factions (their users are in pain and can't unlock the potential), but when a Tenno links with these their internal structure then gets completely reworked into really powerfull frames (and opens the possibility to stuff like modular frames and a deeper explanation on how Tenno Powers work). And so we, not only get two themed frames, but also figures like Stalker or the sentients could play a role as well, since they are essentially creating another stalker in a way (Stalker being the frame w/o a tenno) amd the semtients could he getting a powerfull ally or foe

I found the Deadlock Protocol enjoyable and even more so when Parvos roasted Nef so hard that Nef was sweating bullets. LoL!

the biggest question of this quest a faction that has cheap autonomous robots inter dimensional comunication and cameras that are on the size of a human hand with the capability to transmit on incredibly high definition why the corpus are using solaris if the can send a moa as probe

I think Protea is a specter. It makes sense because Parvos invented specters and the Specters we deploy work in a similar way

Maybe he refers to failures in the sense that they were rebellious and individualistic, then when the Tenno came in the warframes seem to have lost that and were then “under control”

Well let's look at it from the Orokins point of veiw, the umbras where first and if they where shown as funtioning then the prime frames where created. The Leverian frames are the umbras, the event that made the frames go into mass production is the leverian entry. Protea would have had an umbra that would have proved itself before having a prime made for Pravos, there is no way the orokin would make a warframe and give the only one to a corpus.

I’m a bit behind, but are the Leverian frames without Tenno? That’s the first I’ve heard of that

Maybe the protea we fight in the quest is just one of his specters he made and the parts we obtain from him are from the original

A question TheDsIEGE, have you found all the codex entries from the Corpus ship monuments? You mentioned Parvos and his beginning, I didn't catch much of that from the quest.
