Warhammer 40,000: Darktide reviewed by Kyle Campbell on PC, also available on Xbox.
This 40k follow-up to Fatshark's Vermintide games is one of the most entertaining co-op shooters since Left 4 Dead 2. That careful balancing act between multiple methods of murder is ceaselessly entertaining, especially while hatching diabolical plans with your buddies to silence whatever horrors lurk in Tertium's plague-ridden streets. Tedious between-mission progression and persistent framerate dips are the only things that can occasionally spoil that fun, which is a shame when Darktide otherwise nails virtually every fundamental of its genre.

Totally. Reminds me of Halo Infinite, albeit not as polished from a technical standpoint. Tons of fun and really great core gameplay but will eventually get bored and move on since there is no endgame and lots of stuff missing.

They don't stress this nearly hard enough in the review, but this game has some SERIOUS optimization issues. It runs very poorly on even mid-high end setups on PC. If you aren't fully kitted out with high spec gpu, cpu and ram, do not bother until it is fixed, you will have some terrible performance.

My pc is garbage and runs It at 1080p 30fps at medium settings and fsr 2.0, so performance is aceptable to me, but not great.

haven't had issues on my 3060 ti, also have 32 gbs of ram only issue rn is ray tracing but they have already said they are working to fix it

What might fit nicely with the 40K lore is having global events that require all players to seek and contribute to - based on the achievements of the community, the world/narrative could shift slightly. They've nailed down the feeling that we're all insignificant, but they've yet to establish that together, we are indispensable to the survival of the Imperium. The machine needs fodder, and we're it. Lots of work required on the narrative elements, but the gameplay mechanics are pretty solid from what I've experienced.

It says at 9:50 that game is also available on the xbox, but there should be a huge asterisk to that - there is no release date for Xbox.

Darktide has its problems but don't sleep on it. One of my biggest gaming regrets was buying into the "Boycott Left 4 Dead 2" hype and missing out on L4D2 in its prime.

Crafting isn't half the game. Personally I'm wondering what the point of crafting will bring to the game. People are dominating the higher difficulties with the stuff from the shops or rewards already.

We will - Fatshark does have a reputation of releasing extra content and updates regularly. Vermintide 2 is a prime example, still getting content and cosmetic updates even though Darktide is released.

I've been playing on a GTX 1080, on low settings/minimum rogdolls and I've experienced a steady & consistent FPS. Don't be put off by the performence comment if you are using older hardware. That being said my 6750-XT is due this weekend!

8 for the gameplay within the mission feels right, it's amazing. But everything outside the missions is an unfinished placeholder of a product. Well, besides the MTX shop for cosmetics, that's one thing that works fine.

They have it now, just press tab on the inspect menu and it breaks down every weapons damage, for every move on every armour type. It's neat!

What they should have done is kept patching the bugs alongside finishing up working on the console edition, then release them together like they were supposed to. Instead they just delayed the console version and rushed out the pc version.

This company has Vermintide 2 on steam, the game is fun, how the hell they managed to mess up Darktide so badly is a mystery!! But at least Tencents monetary wing is involved in the micro transactions so you get none of the promised stuff but plenty of filth from the cash shop for over inflated prices. Game is a con and we are fools for buying into it.

Game is great but there are more microtransactions than pieces of content at the moment. Got to about level 20 and decided to put it down for a bit. The game play is amazing, but the loop is lacking a bit, even compared to Vermintide

The fact the reviewer thinks this is the best co-op game since L4D2, ignoring the fact that Vermintide 2 is far superior to both of them. Darktide is just a worse Vermintide. Fatshark really dropped the ball on this one.

game is okay mostly, but my humble opinion there should be level limit on missions difficult, example on mission dificult 3 ppl with under level 8 or 7 shouldnt join
