Good stuff. Definitely one of GWs best actual games.. Really plays well, models are superb.. You can learn it quickly... The rivals n nemesis formats have breathed life into the meta after a slowdown of f2f gaming in the covid years.. You don't need to collect everything anymore. Really fun game

If they had 40k underworld (underhive? Underwarp? underwebway? Underhulk?), it would definitely sell. And with the models usable in killteam the way underworld bands can be used in warcry….. money on the table for GW

The Fireteam game looks similar to underworlds. Doesn't seem to be well supported though

@@egorrotneck5022yeah I think fireteam could have been the start of a sort of kill team “underworlds”. However GW saw the purpose of fireteam as more or less of “if you like fireteam then go play killteam!” I do wonder what could have been if we ever got a kill team underworlds.

There is a 35 dollar Underworlds starter box at barnes and noble in the states. It has the same undead but melee focused stormcast.

top shelf overview and commentary, Andy. Underworlds is such a tight game with limited turns and plenty of options. I feel like it packs the fun and tension of a big hammer game into a quarter of the time. The two half deck smash up style has only made it easier to get to the table.

Christmas boxes... could mean a very cheap few weeks for you or an even more expensive few weeks depending on how into randomly collecting 40k and Sigmar you are!

A solo play variant does exist, called "A Crushing Terror" and the rules are still available for download. This came out right after Breastgrave and lockdowns began. It should still work with any seasons rules as there are no core rule variations in the gameplay

As someone who has the first 3 box sets of uw and got a little lost when nemesis and the other doodad came in this has helped me alot but im still a little bit confused, do i use my old warbands but just pick 10 of each of the aligned universal card and bin all my other cards

Warbands from Shadespire and Nightvault will require that you obtain a newer Rivals decks with which you can either play exclusively (Rivals format) or mix with that warbands’ faction cards (Nemesis format). Beastgrave and Dreadfane had fully functional faction decks with which one can play in the Rivals format. Note that some of these factions had really bad faction decks (i.e. Wurmspat, Despoilers, Blade Coven… Wild Hunt and Condemnors weren’t that good either). For these, you’ll want a separate Rivals deck as explained above. Note that Rivals decks vary in how well they mesh with a given Warband. Some work better than others. Some don’t work at all.

What’s the difference between the WYRDHOLLOW box and the starter set? Can’t see anything apart from different war bands and some more dice.

Yup, so the main difference is the different warbands! However, I mention this in the video but it's a lot of information, the starter box only comes with the faction specific rivals decks, no extra universal rivals decks. Any of the other big boxes like Wyrdhollow or Deathgorge get extra decks so you can play the nemesis format straight out of the box.

I am a Warcry player - not an Underworlds one and it bugs me so much that it's impossible to just go into a store and buy 90+% of the range. Oh well, there's always Scalper's Paradi... I mean, the second hand market.

So they have removed championship format entirely from the game? From what expansion forward did championship get removed? Thanks for the video

Championship is a variant of Relic format with the only additional restriction that it only uses cards from the last 2 years (and the Essentials expansion pack). Rules are in the Relic document on Warhammer Community. That said, nearly every community I am aware of plays Nemesis due to its simpler restrictions and lower accessibility level.

The current dominant format (Nemesis)can be played with the purchase of 1 warband and 1 Rivals expansion. That will give you the same access as the top players. The only complication would be if your warband happens to be one featured in a starter set, but as most players want a set of boards and dice etc it's still a low accessibility game compared with most. Hope you give it a try.

Its definitely really competetive game, especialy if you can fully customize the deck. But GW got really greedy with this game, forcing you buy everything, Over time this game just lost players instead of gaining it. I like the game more than the big games but dont find it as good as kill team, been playing it since second season.
