Why is Warren Zevon not in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame? He was such an amazing talent. His music continues to inspire.
@LaughingStock_2 жыл бұрын
I get your sentiments, but, frankly, from this side of the pond The Hall of Lame is the most vomit-inducing wankfest to leech itself to the RnR product ever, the absolute antithesis of what RnR was about. Sorry, but someone needs to nuke the damn thing. I'm just grateful virtually none of the artists I hold dear would pee on the whole brown-nose farce if it were on fire.

The Rock ns Roll Hall of Fame is supposed to be about musicians who influenced music. Warren was not the most commercially successful, but when you look at the musicians who worked with him, appreciated his talent and supported him, kind of hard to argue that he was not influential. Look at he musical credits on his album Sentimental Hygiene and the tribute album Enjoy Every Sandwich after he died. If that does not qualify him, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is just bullshit

Seeing the title 'Warren Zevon - Poor Poor Pitiful Me...' is more than enough for thousands of us to click on, watch and enjoy SO much. But when he (and his GREAT band) then go on unexpectedly into Bruce's Cadillac Ranch, without even a break, it IMHO turns this into one of THE great music videos ever!! I absolutely love it.

Saw Warren in a beach bar in Sitges, Spain on the coast of Barcelona in 1976. Saw him again in a small venue called Rosebud in Pittsburgh. He came over to our table after the show and I told him the Spain story. He loved it!! I was seated with the Rock Radio station WDVE. He played this song dedicated to Bill Clinton!!
@daviderickson86994 ай бұрын
I saw him do a free / open air show in Waukesha, WI during a multi-night music fest. His opener was some very high energy Irish rock band I had never heard of (and haven't ever again), but then they stayed on to be his backing band. It was so great - he had a similar talent to Neil Young, who can turn from all-out rocker to breathtaking ballad on a dime, and the audience has no choice but to go with him. Waited around afterward to meet him (he was short!) and he was just a down-to-earth, friendly guy. This video definitely captures the same live performance spirit I saw.

I think I was almost 30 when he died. It was a terrible year. Johnny Cash and John Ritter died the same year. It was a kick to the gut for sure. I used to sing Werewolves of London for karaoke. It meant more after I heard he passed. Check out his last song Keep me in your heart.

That must have been one helluva concert to see live. I only saw him once live at party on the plaza in Houston after a few years living in Texas. After the concert I asked if I could get a piece of the radio station khol banner along the stage and they were like yes. I brought that banner with me through out the night to local bars. Everyone that I meet I had them sign it. Everyone in Texas has been so great. I made friends even though I am a Red Soxz fan, yet go Astros. Me and my friend opened our first automotive shop and I put up that banner proudly and often would read the comments and remember those faces of great people. Before Warren left the stage he said "My rides here" as he was speaking literally. Hej speaks of his dealing with death on a David Letterman and how a dentist actually told him to see a doctor. His second to last album was called Life will kill you. RIP Warren 👍💜

Warren was awesome. The good old days of the Capitol Theater and affordable concerts. I grew up in Lyndhurst NJ a hop skip and jump from the Capitol Theater. Also, good old Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City. Now, you need a loan to get a cheap nosebleed seat anywhere in the New York area. Or out on a lawn watching on a screen at PNC. Might as well watch at home. Besides the people holding their fucking phones up in front of you the whole time or screaming DURING the music so you can't hear it. The Beatles stopped touring and became a studio band because they couldn't hear themselves play.
