You guys should check out Geoff doing Way Down. It's great and shows off his comedic side more than the ones you've watched so far. I love Geoff's music, but what really made me love him the most is how he doesn't take himself too seriously. He's definitely not afraid to laugh at himself which I think keeps him grounded.

A friend posted this to my Facebook page because she knew I liked the bass voice. I was hooked immediately, found Voiceplay, got hooked there, too. Kathy, his wife, is production manager for him and Voiceplay. Frequently on his solo stuff, including this one, it is just the two of them. I will always be here for them.

Can you guys do his Rains of Castamere video? Its from Game of Thrones. Also his Way Down by Elvis Presley. He gets down to a C1. Also.... Geoff will be releasing his new video this Saturday, August 5th. He rented a whole freaking prison for this one. Voiceplay will probably release their new video next Friday, August 11th. Make sure you watch to the very end. They have a little surprise after a brief pause. What's better than 4 drunken sailors? 6 drunken sailors of course. This one is alot of fun.

Yes, it is basically his wife, Kathy, and himself doing all of this. He has asked fellow VoicePlay member Eli to do lighting for him on occasion, and VP beatboxer Layne and former VP member Tony Wakim have done some camerawork for him and he enlists makeup artists when needed for the more elaborate makeup, but other than that it is him and Kathy doing everything, including the editing together of the video. I think you will love his latest video, which is about to drop. They drove hours from home to film that one in a 'special' location, and the guy who was renting it out to them let them in and wondered when "the rest of your crew" was coming, and was amazed that there was no one else coming, they were going to be filming it just by themselves.

This is the video that started me down the rabbit hole of Geoff then onto VoicePlay. Geoff and his wife Kathy videoed this all by themselves in just one day. Geoff has also named his clones. L to R Goff, Jeff, Geoff, and Jeoph in other videos you will meet clone, Daryl. I love this song as a child and heard Tennessee Ernie Ford sing it on his TV show. Yes, I am that old. Geoff also did a cover of Jimmy Dean's Big Bad John.

Geoff and Kathy have a video here where they talk about her profound deafness now. You would think it a bit depressing, but it's not. Both of them bring out the best in each other and it's a joy to watch. She and Geoff were working in the theme parks as singers, married and shortly thereafter began to lose her hearing. She has become Geoff's manager as well as VoicePlay's. He did Shenandoah for her and High and Dry for himself (both soloes). She was in VPs Golden Hour and in Till Then (solo). So, while not singing, she does make a couple of appearances. You might like one of the old VP videos - Daddy Sang Bass. I grew up on the Tennessee Ernie Ford version - Geoff did him proud. I'm sure you'd also enjoy Big Bad John (Jimmy Dean) by Geoff. Blackbird is beautiful another not to miss.

I believe that this was the first one Geoff did in this format, by cloning himself this way. Since then he's done quite a few, including naming his clones and dressing them differently. It's a lot of work of course but it's such fun. In this his wife Kathy was setting up the camera, she still often does , as in his latest due out soon. It was just the two of them. In some more elaborate ones he gets help from other VP members, such as Eli doing the lighting, Layne and Toni Wakim, (ex memver) doing camera work and production. I urge you to watch VoicePlay's mini of Peaches, to hear Geoff being toally insane. And hitting a real high note. Not sure what he had to do to get up there. :)

Came back to watch again. You were talking about this being his passion. He didn't do solo work until Covid shut the world down. Voiceplay had to stop touring, so he had some time on his hands. The fact that he does all of this himself (mostly) is amazing, while still doing half the arrangements and videos for Voiceplay. And Voiceplay is performing with Chicago in November, so preparing for that. And doing a Halloween thing for Pattycake Productions, the company that Layne Stein, Voiceplay's beatboxer and Tony Wakim, their former baritone, own. And he has a six year old. He's a busy, busy man!

Being a bass singer myself, his lows never surprise me... it's his insane agility. Other 5+ octave and low basses exist; very few can bounce around their range the way he does. Truthfully, Geoff surprises everyone for different reasons.

The tools all came from hus Dad's shed and get to be reused in various different songs. It seems so simple, them you thing how much time it would take and it's amazing he put so much work into it. Geoff didn't think it was going to be as popular as it became, still one of my top 5 Geoff songs. The shaking camera effect on this one was an accident. I'm glad he decided to leave it in.

Around 1969 I had the pleasure of being a page in the Tennessee state legislature. Part of my duties were to run the mics (turn them off and on and adjust volume for the members. As such, I spent quite a bit of time on the podium. Ernie came and sang this song at the opening session. Every single possible seat was taken. Galleries were overflowing. He did the whole thing acapella. With just the audience snapping their fingers for accompaniment. I'll never forget about half way through Ernie looked up in the gallery and said "Lady, it works better if you take off your gloves when you snap your fingers." He never broke the cadence of the song... I almost fell off the podium laughing.

Tennessee Ernie Ford made it famous in 1955, but it's not his song. Written and first recorded by Merle Travis in 1946 (released 1947). The original was 2:54, Ford's version was 2:34. They're all good, but I have to go with Geoff's as my favorite.

It's worth mentioning that this song was done all in Geoff's chest notes. None of the low bass notes employ him doing subharmonic techniques. (Though thinking about it, I don't think any of the notes are actually on the subharmonic range, but still, to be able to sing the low bass notes he does while still being in chest voice is impressive.)
