I do appreciate you taking the time to go over the 600. My first reaction is, if you can either do it yourself and or get someone to do, get it recapped immediately. The internal caps on these were really bad. I personally much prefer the expansion capabilities and build quality of the 500’s. I have an 1987 A500 with the space invader switches on the keys. By far my favorite keyboard. I also think internally the 500’s are just better machines at the expense of a little more desk space. I was living in London in the early 90s time frame and I remember thinking this is just a cutdown A500 so it just made zero sense at that time it was released to me. I didn’t see many of these that I can recall over here in the States but that could be a geographic thing. This is when Commodore really began its headlong slide to oblivion despite the love of their fan base, myself included. Of all the models this is the one I have the least fondness for, but I don’t mean that as a criticism of you or those who do have a fondness, just be careful of those capacitors. Any Amiga is awesome in my book and I have no doubt that anybody who gets a recapped working model would love it! Thanks again for taking the time to do the video, maybe you could follow up with some shots of the top off and a walkthrough of the custom chips etc.

Another excellent video Phil. I have an A500, 600 and 1200. The 600 is the most compact, cheapest/easiest to upgrade and the most compatible machine.

My first Amiga was a 600HD with 40MB Hardrive. Before that I had a C64. Commig from a C64, the Amiga was a Quantum leap. Installing large Games like MI 2 on the Harddisk was a dream , no more Disk swapping.

In retro it’s a great machine. In the time though it was 5 years after the A500, cost about the same, and didn’t do much more. Some software from other Amigas didn’t work. IDE was slower.

Nowadays most 600s needs recapping as they leak, while the 500 is not as urgent to recap.

I have 4 Amiga 600s, a bunch of A500s and A500 Plus machines and two A1200s. The build quality of A500s are far superior to A600s and A1200s. A600s are very cheaply built. It's an absolute must to recap them. The capacitators are leaking by now with 99% likelyhood. They will destroy the motherboard. I have been recapping a bunch of A600s and A1200s. Whilst caps in A500s don't need a recap unless there is a problem. They also tend to never leak. Leaving an A600 sealed is a very bad idea. Get it recapped asap. I recently recapped a sealed A600. All the caps had leaked and corroded many components and traces on the motherboard. Had quite the cleanup work. These days I don't think the built in TV modulator or composite matters because everyone should use the RGB port anyway. Far superior picture quality to RF or composite. And there are so many solutions for easily using the RGB port. The only benefits of the A600s over A500s are the built in IDE and PCMCIA port and that they are very compact. With regards to accelerators for A600s I have several. The problem is that they are piggybacked on the CPU. Not a very reliable connection. They tend to come loose. Whilst on the A500s/A500 Plus you can use something like the ACA 500 Plus which plugs into the CPU side-expansion slot. Or internal accelerators that plugs into the CPU socket. Which are much more reliable. With all that said, the A600 is a very retro friendly, compact and practical computer from a retro standpoint. As long as it's recapped. It's an absoulute must.

Really? I have a 500+ in my loft... (imagining £££s, lol) I remember the 500+ was very controversial as it broke a lot of older software that made assumptions about fast ram, chip ram and versions of Kickstart. I had a Kickstart boot disk that allowed me to boot in to Kickstart 1.3 and run some stuff that otherwise didn't run (albeit with only half the RAM I otherwise had, as I think it shadowed the Kickstart to RAM).

the 600 was a very bad movement for commodore..They had to keep selling the 500s since they were to release the 1200 just 1 year after the 600...Imagine the people who bought a 600 thinking "it is a new computer" just to see it was obsolete the next year..commodore shot themselves in the foot doing that...

cheapskate buddy of mine bought one mid 90´s because it was cheap. boy did it suck. worst was the missing numpad because civilisation was one of the greatest games of that time and it was almost unplayble without it.
