You may have seen the new Maytag man commercials where they are testing and showing off the new pet pro washer and dryer systems and wondered if they are worth the high price tag. I have done tons of research and put it all together in this review video.
 I hope you enjoy the bonus part of this video where I see three ways of how to remove pet hair from clothes these pet hair removal. I also hope these life hacks will have your black clothes spotless again.
My wife was a dog groomer and I know exactly how bad it can be to remove pet hair from black clothes and towels. Even when you can’t see the pet hair on lighter colored clothes, it’s still there and can cause allergy problems.
 my wife or her coworkers have tried all the different products, including for zapper, laundry hair, and lint catcher, and the bounce pet hair, and it went guard. They all help, but the biggest thing is to make sure your dryer is not stopped up so it has plenty of airflow to pull the pet hair away from the clothes and into the filter.

@@lilolme69 yeah other than using key screws there’s not much about it that’s different. Honestly I don’t understand the key style. Are they worried the homeowner is going to break into it. Lol. I did like that they added the rubber dampeners on the top corners to help stabilize the drum on the washer. But I still believe that they can permanently and easily make the suspension rods, so they do not fail.

@Washer Dryer Money yeah, I was suspicious and did the same thing at Lowe's. I still bought it anyway, but at least I knew going in. I do think it is a better design than the dryer lint filters in the front door area. I'd clean the filter, but I still would get some lint back on the clothes as I was pulling them out to fold them.

I actually have this washer. It is great for catching all kinds of things, not just pet hair. My grandkids often leave paper and various other items in their pockets that I miss. I also had thrown in a jacket with chunky vomit dried on it. The filter caught all of that and made it easier about cleaning the washer out. BTW, I have a Maytag dryer but not the matching Pet Pro.

Thank you, Gabe. I like the Maytag Pet Pro Washer and may purchase it. As you pointed out, the dryer is not worth the money. Oh, by the way, your insight & recommendations are top-tier! You are absolutely 100 percent on point with your analysis and recommendations for anyone dealing with pets that continuously shed... like our border collie mix! To illustrate my point, my wife already uses the Bounce Pet, Hair, & Lint Guard 3X Mega Sheet. In addition, before putting anything in the dryer, using the dryer's 20-minute "Air Fluff" cycle, she "air fluffs" our clothing and linens and all (I mean all) dog stuff, too. Also, between washings (as required/sometimes daily), she uses the "Air Fluff" cycle to remove dog hair from couch throws, rugs, and other stuff. Admittedly, in the past, she did not use the "Air Fluff" cycle after the normal drying cycle had ended--so she's going to give it a try. Again, thank you, Gabe. So true! I have a 1993 GE FILTER FLO set. It's fantastic at removing hair and lint from the wash. I love it, but it's small and wearing out. Maytags also had a filter in the agitator many years ago. Very true. I have actually worked on several of those with the filter. That Kenmore dryer at the 3:27 minute mark is from 1961, the 1960 and older Whirlpool 29” dryers (1948 to 1960) uses a series of v-belts and pulleys for the drum drive and blower similar to the Maytag Halo Of Heat dryers, in 1961 they tweaked the design slightly since the v-belts and pulleys were eliminated but was a poly stretch belt for the blower which sat directly behind the perforated drum back and used the same belt around the drum setup as malt current dryers, in 1966 is the last major redesign for Whirlpool 29” top filter dryers and pretty much has stated unchanged other than variations in drum size the the door opening.

Wow, that’s cool history. My grandparents have a old lady Kenmore dryer that is used to this day. I asked my grandfather what he has replaced on it, and he said all he remembers replacing was the belt. It really was an incredible design made to the last, unlike the drunk they produce nowadays. Curious because you know a lot about the history of Appliances what washer and dryer would you recommend if someone was looking to buy new?
@seana806
@seana806 Жыл бұрын
@@WasherDryerMoney I’d recommend Speed Queen since they seem to be the only one that stands behind their product. Maytag hands down made some of the most reliable and dependable washers and dryers ever made since Maytag didn’t change the design much on their machines from 1966 to 2006 but ended up shooting themselves in the foot since Maytag didn’t bother to work on the bugs in their Neptune machines (at least the early ones from about 1997) and had rebadged Norge machines (known as the Performa) which weren’t known for holding up all that well which is what ended up causing Maytag to be bought out by Whirlpool in 2006. If Maytag hadn’t made those mistakes (hell, even bothered with the Neptune or Performa machines), they’d probably be number # 1 since they would have a very reliable machine since the only things that ever failed on those machines were either the belts or pump (in some cases, the bearings would need to be replaced along with the tub seal, damper pads, breaks assembly, but those were few and far between) and all you had to do was remove the front panel to get to those items, doesn’t even take 15 minutes to do those repairs. Whirlpool made decent machines up until 1986 when they discontinued their belt drive washers (that design dates back to at least 1947) since those could go for some time but usually needed a new pump every 10 years or so, sometimes the plungers on the control magnet assembly aka wig wag would break causing it to either engage but not disengage or simply wouldn’t engage all together. In extreme cases, the spring inside the transmission that pushed down the shifter fork would break which would causes the agitate gear to pop in and out not allowing it to engage, last but not least is the center post seals when they shortened the center post in 1978 would fail (this can happen to direct drives as well) and the machine would “spill it’s guts” as someone in a vintage appliance forum I am would say since the water would get inside the transmission contaminating the oil and making a big mess and if not a big mess, would simply ruin the transmission oil since it was contaminated with water. As for Frigidaire, Frigidaire machines were good up until 1979 when they were discontinued by GM (yep, GM made appliances for Frigidaire up until 1979) and in 1980 is when WCI got ahold of Frigidaire, Kelvinator, and Westinghouse which all ruined their reputation. GE made good appliances up until 1994 since that was the last year for the Filter Flo machines, 1995 is when they switched to a new design which was inferior to the Filter Flo and wasn’t known for holding up, have a friend in Michigan who knew someone who had one of those GE washers made after 1994 which only saw about 400 loads before it’s transmission died. I’ve learned all of this stuff from reading through the archives on the automaticwasher forums and from friends who collect and restore appliances as a hobby. Sounds like I’ve been working on those machines for years but am just someone who’s 23 years old who has a huge appreciation for the past in terms of history and engineering.

@WasherDryerMoney Жыл бұрын
@@seana806 interesting I don’t really get on forms very often. Let me know where you’re looking I would love to do some research. The biggest problem I see with the downfall of dependable of machines is not as much the company is planning for them to fail in five years so they can make another sale. I mean that’s completely possible but I would say the next machine they buy would not be from that company. A lot of times people do not realize whirlpool owns nearly everything and they again may buy from the same company but most of the time they will move onto Samsung or LG. The biggest problem of undependable machines nowadays is the amount of metal in the machines. The transmissions are gone. It’s just a transfer case it’s mainly a motor that is literally going from forward to reverse to agitate. They’re trying to save as much money as possible by removing parts and adding plastic ones to lighten up for more than likely overseas shipping. Also, I’m sure you heard this, but have you noticed how there a lid locks on all new washers? It’s not for the reason most people think. It’s to lighten machine by removing the brake systems. The lid just stays locked until the machine slowly comes to a complete stop. This is also a factor in why new washers take so long to wash.

These could be easily fixed, but they continue to use the poor design. The dryer is a good design. I actually really like the filter out the top dryers because they’re easy to work on and the parts are usually not expensive. My big issue with this dryer is there selling points. I’m also not a big fan of pushbutton parts on washers and dryers because they tend to fail a lot faster and when they do, it’s usually replace the entire controller which is it extremely expensive. Be sure it is not slightly. Stopped up anywhere. Lint buildup is a problem. We all have to deal with, but it is also very dangerous for fires. With pet removal from the dryer, it will be necessary to have practically no air restriction from either lint build up for a bent hose because the amount of air flow passing The clothes is what pulls the hair from the clothes. And even if it’s slightly less airflow, it will dramatically decrease the amount of hair. The driver can remove. Good luck. I also like to hanging clothes out to dry and save some energy.

I’m not 100% sure. I do know that the pet hair removal feature only works in the deeper cycles. because the water has to pour through the higher portion of the agitator.

I don’t have a video about media dryers, but most dryers are the exact same thing. It’s just a drum, a heating element and a fan. Check out this video I made on all the different problems that could be causing no heat. The big difference will be how are you get to the parts in your dryer. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hKmUfaad2ZymoJs.html

@@08vtec6 oh, OK now I see what you’re saying. Those extensions are just because the dryers are sometimes taller to match the washers. This makes a void that needs to be filled between the top of the dryer and the standard size lint trap. The filters are exactly the same. It’s just the extender will be slightly different from model to model. There is no difference in how the filter performs with a extender. It’s similar to a ratchet extension doesn’t make it a better ratchet. It just extend it.

I have this set and still haven't read all the how to bc the maytag site (which tells you 2go2 the site 4how to's) doesn't have any vids or tell you how to do anything. Mainly I've been wanting to know how the "affresh" wash cycle is supposed to work.. or if I'm doing it wrong. Bc it's literally been going all day 😮 and the affresh tap is still whole. This also happens when selecting the 'whites' & 'colors' it'll just go all day & won't let me open the lid, even thogh the light says 'done' 🤔😱🫣Aaagh! Help!

Take a look at Samsung. The washer has a removable filter in the front that catches everything which is crazy easy to access and their dryer has an incredibly intelligent filter. Very fine screen that's beyond simple and effective. I am not easily impressed by anything anywhere but their engineering is light years ahead.

Be sure to check reviews for Samsung washers. They’re not known to be very reliable. But most washers not as reliable as they used to be. But Samsung is kind of know among repair guys to be not dependable.

AMCII may be referencing a frontloader washer regards to "a removable filter in the front." I'm not aware of any Samsung topload washers with a filter but maybe it's a new model (AMCII didn't state his/her model). Anyway, frontloaders have pump protector filters that catch debris from getting into and blocking or damaging the pump. They do not have active filters that catch lint or hair out of the clothes during washing and rinsing.

@@DADoESofTX yeah, I’m not aware of one either. I was actually planning on researching it to see which one he was referring to in a band. @@WasherDryerMoney Maybe so, but I don't want to put dirty pet hair in the dryer where clean clothes are going to go, and I'm allergic to Bounce. Basically, this set is the design of the washers and dryers of yesteryear! My mum had that huge top filter on her dryer, and I'm ready to get this because I'm sick of the lint and hair in the Maytag front load washer. It's silly that one can't get to the filter on the washer without tipping it up sideways. Not many folks are able to even attempt it safely!

I just bought this. I have done four loads of laundry, ensuring each time that the pet pro button was pushed. It's not taking any hair off and collecting in filter. Even sure that the filter it pushed down and locked in place. I have three dogs and a cat, there is hair on everything. I don't expect it to take off all the hair, however there should be hair in the filter after doing a load.

Make sure it’s on deep cycle as well. One of the better tricks I’ve run across, is putting in the clothes in the dryer on air dry for few minutes before you put it in the washer. Especially extremely hairy clothes. The dry hair comes off in the dryer much easier before it’s wet and stuck to the clothes. Also, I know this seems silly but pet dryer sheets. Remove most static and cling the hair from the clothes in the dryer and make it get in the filter a lot easier.
