I made this video to be a quick fix Dryer over Heating or slow dry video. If your dryer is taking multiple cycles to dry clothes this is a video for you. Dryer troubleshooting is also part of this video if your dryer is not drying or taking too long to dry more than likely it is either stuffed up in the dryer or in the line going out of the house.
Whether it’s deep in the dryer or just a easy dryer trap deep cleaning you need this should be your video. You may find 4 cups of fluff in the filter or a gallon or two.
How to clean lint out of a dryer is not as difficult as people think but if you do not feel comfortable definitely hire a professional. You could use a hurricane lint lizard or several other as seen on TV products.
There’s not much more satisfying thing to do then a clean dryer vent cleaning.
All those places you thought were clean definitely are not but after you do this it will scratch that itch that you’ve been wanting to get to. Especially if you’re a little OCD like me.

My dryer was smelling like burnt hair. Looked at your video, saved it, then looked at it again. Went right to work and found my lint chute filled with lint. Did a thorough cleaning of the chute and the back of the dryer, hooked everything back up - wife is happy, no more smell. However, both the seals (lint screen housing foam seal, dryer blower housing foam seal) were compromised and ordered seals via your referral link. I use KZfaq to give me an idea on how to fix things around the house. I usually look at a number of videos depending on the complexity of the DIY project so I know a great presentation when I see one. Thank you for your video and for taking the time to make things so clear.

Thank you for taking the time to write this comment. Glad to hear you got it going again. Those seals don’t last forever. It’s a good idea to replace them before they get too bad.

Got a no start dryer the other day. Belt was broken and it was the dirtiest dryer ever. I got a lot of satisfaction because I used parts I had salvaged off other scrapped machines: belt, door handle and lint screen! Just a reminder to try to save good parts off bad machines to save you $$$ on repairs and restorations!

Great video! My lint issue was so bad lint got into the heating element and burnt up! Half of it was chared. I had to take apart the entire machine to get to it clean it out along with cleaning everything mention here. I'm guessing lint is never supposed to be in there. I tested the heating element and it tests fine nothing broken, hopefully it's ok to put back in. So if you have a burning smell turn it off check your heating element. Could have had a big fire I guess Lucky not.

Sometimes I wish appliance manufacturers would look back at designs they once had many years ago since older dryers don’t seem to nearly accumulate as much lint as the newer dryers do. For example, the Maytag Halo Of Heat dryers made from 1957 to 1975 had a single piece drum that didn’t have a stationary bulkhead front or back that lint or coins could slip past the drum, used a belt and pulley for the drum drive which used v-belts that took decades to wear out, last but not least had a blower wheel with 8 blades on it that didn’t allow any lint build up at all.

I have a question. If you drain the water out of a washers drain pump is it ok to leave it out in freezing temperatures. Will it damage the washer? Great videos by the way!
@WasherDryerMoney
@WasherDryerMoney 3 жыл бұрын
I live in the south. It Barely ever gets below freezing but I would think if there’s no water in the water pump it is probably going to be OK. The water pump is usually the lowest point on a washer machine.

Mine is strange, dryer runs fine, I open the dryer door and clothes are wet and cold, close the door and won't start because the circuit breaker tripped. Turn it back on and heats up fine for another few weeks until it trips again. Circuit breaker and power cord tested ok, so taking apart and cleaning first then testing the heating element, timer, and thermostat.

How do you know if the belt goes grooves up or not depending of models?
@WasherDryerMoney
@WasherDryerMoney 3 жыл бұрын
Any brand of dryer that has the filter coming out the top the grooves will go towards the drum. Most dryers are this way there’s a few older ones that I’ve run into that are reversed.

Okay scenario for you.. I currently have a GE dryer that says to use a 120/208 or 120/240 power cord. The outlet we have is a 4 prong 125/250v 30A outlet. I watched (&commented) on your replacing 3 prong cord to 4 prong cord. We did everything you did. The dryer turns on, runs fine. But after just 5 minutes of running the dryer, it’s extremely hot in the back of the dryer. Is this an electrical thing? Or a dryer problem? I’m afraid that the 125/250v versus what the machine reads (120/208 or 240) is the issue because the dryer is practically brand new (2 years old). Please advise. Thank you..

I’m actually going to be making a dryer overheating all problems video send. My guess would be it has a lack of airflow. If it’s a new dryer it’s probably the pipe going from the back of the dryer to the outside of the house is bent or stopped up.

It’s always a good idea to clean out a dryer. The lint buildup in the fan housing is very dangerous and makes a dryer take forever to dry.

Have you heard it heard of the heater relay getting stuck on and it heats all the time on high which eventually takes out the fuse link just wanted to tell you you're missing the whole boat you're not giving the whole story up yes we have different limits but that is also a problem which is it is up in the control panel on top?
