Washington DC on a Budget: Travel Guide 2024

Күн бұрынJoin us on a budget-friendly adventure from Las Vegas to Washington DC! In this video, we'll show you a cost-effective way to experience the nation's capital. Instead of flying directly to DC, we take a cheaper route through Baltimore and then catch a convenient train to Washington DC's Union Station.
When you arrive in Baltimore, head to the baggage claim level and follow the signs to the MARC/Amtrak shuttle. Enjoy a short ten to fifteen-minute ride to the train station. Once there, purchase your $8 ticket to Washington Union Station at the MARC Ticket Vending Machine. Cross to the southbound platform and board the MARC train for a 40-minute ride to Union Station.
In DC, we stayed at the Phoenix Park Hotel, which is conveniently located and offers great comfort. We also took a Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour, perfect for first-time visitors, which includes both a Day Tour and a Sunset Tour. Dining at The Dubliner was a delightful experience with great food, live music, and reasonable prices.
Explore the National Mall and visit iconic landmarks like the World War II Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr Memorial, and the Jefferson Memorial. A trip to DC wouldn't be complete without seeing the White House. On our Sunset Tour, we saw The Pentagon, US Marine Corps War Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, and Georgetown.

Visited DC back in the spring for the first time and absolutely loved it. The museum’s themselves are a three day or more attraction in and of themselves.

Totally! There are so many free museum's and just like you said, you could easily spend three days on that alone! Where in DC did you stay?

@@toodalooyall I stayed in Arlington. The hotel was 10 minutes from the nearest Metro station which was perfect. It was an easy 40 ride to the Smithsonian and I wandered around from there. I didn’t explore the bus system on this trip, but from the maps I saw they looked like a great transportation option.

You should grab a map once you get to DC and ask the receptionist at the hotel you're staying at about some great places. Hopefully you found some inspiration in this video of places you want to go and see with your own eyes :)

Oh and skip the MARC, Amtrak is worth the upgrade and sometimes only $15
