Washington’s Political Capture of the Philippines: A Former Colony, Now a Future Proxy

- The US is transforming the Philippines into a belligerent proxy against China which happens to be the nation’s largest and most important trade partner;
- The US is using the pretext of China’s supposed threat to maritime trade in the South China Sea, despite the majority of traffic through its waters coming from and going to China and its trade partners, including the Philippines;
- The US had previously colonized the Philippines, brutalizing its population and upon granting it “independence,” continued to impose itself on the government, including through one-sided treaties and perpetual military occupation;
- While the Philippines does have maritime disputes with China, it also has multiple disputes with other nations claiming territory in the South China Sea, the US has selectively inserted itself into disputes with China to escalate them into dangerous conflicts;
- The US is using escalation to justify a military build-up in the region, including within the territory of the Philippines;
- By alienating China, the current government of the Philippines is foregoing trade and infrastructure development and redirecting public funds into military spending at the expense of the nation’s own best interests;

The history of the USA in the Philippines is a paradigmatic example of how the USA dominates propaganda and manipulation until it makes people forget and completely change the perception of the facts. The USA occupied the then Spanish province of the Philippines in 1898, what propaganda sold as the liberation of the Philippines from an old European power, was a brutal invasion, exploitation and subjugation of the Filipino people. The resistance of the Filipinos against the North American occupation lasted more than 5 years and claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of Filipinos. You can hear in internet the recorded words of some Philipines independence leaders who fight against Spain. who bitterly regret having trusted the USA to fight against Spain, who openly recognize that the USA deceived them and that they ceased to be Spanish citizens, to be almost animals under the USA . The propaganda and the control of the History, make possible for the USA to deceive again Filipinos and use them against China

True. Spain and USA already had deal beforehand and were laughing at the Pilipinos for believing. The next thing you know, Pilipinos have become little brown americans labeled by USA and Pilipinos are proud of that not me though. There are still Pilipinos who are strongly opposed USA but the problem is that majority of the Pilipinos are obsessed and in love with the americans in general. They glorify USA as their savior. These Pilipinos brag anything about USA as if they are americans. Just watch our national mainstream media here in the Philippines, they're all about praising USA and bragging about USA, and those Pilipinos proud that they obtained american citizenship, dress like the americans, being able to buy expensive american brands and flaunt them, stroll around USA especially hollywood and meet with hollywood stars. Mostly, they brag about being able to marry an american especially those with blonde hair and blue eyes. You see Pilipinos want to have babies with american blood in order to be good looking so that they can be actors/actresses. It makes me cringe and appalled. They don't truly love the motherland. This country is hopeless. The only strong leader who dared to fight back and criticized the bully public was president Duterte. Meanwhile, the liberal left opposition loved the USA

We have a lot of turncoat politicians who will support and ingratiate themselves to whoever is sitting at the Malacañang Palace. On the other hand, BBM used the popularity of Duterte by presenting himself as the successor to Duterte's legacy, who claimed that he is not pro-China and pro-US. That he is pro-Philippines. Unfortunately, BBM is more than willing to turn the country into America's pawn in its rivalry with China. Like his father, America will disown him once he is no longer useful to them.

The greatest trick the colonial overlords played was convincing the locals that they'd always been there, that they'd always been best buddies, that the locals have always wanted and "needed" big strong outsiders to come and protect them, because they are weak and pathetic and can't tie their own shoes.... as the real life journals of the men that were there read. The Angles and Saxons arrived in Britain in the 5th century after the fall of the Roman Empire. They were from three tribes: the Angles, Saxons and Jutes, who came from different parts of Germany and Denmark. The Angles were from Angeln, which is a district in northern Germany; the Saxons were from what is now Lower Saxony, also in northern Germany; and the Jutes were from Jutland, now part of Denmark. The Angles gave their name to England. A quote: "Anyone using 'Anglo-Saxon' to describe English-speaking Britons obviously doesn't know what the term actually means." People often think of Anglo-Saxon as meaning 'a person of English descent'. In the US it means 'a person of colonial descent or British origin'. The French tend to use the term ''Anglo-Saxon'' to designate English speaking countries such as the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. A comment from a Scot: "I am Scottish, and don't feel any connection with the term whatsoever - it makes me think of horned helmets and the pillaging of villages. It is not a term I have ever heard used in the UK." I am English and I never heard the term to describe Britons either - until I visited the US. I have always associated it with the historical invasions of Germanic tribes and their archaeological remains, of which there are relatively few.

First of all, the US empire is rooted in a third rate country; land of shootings, racism, opioids, fentanyl, strikes, inflation, trillions of credit card debts, student debts, car loans, unaffordable rent, unpayable mortgage, unqualifiable medical insurance, evictions, homeless, hunger, armed robberies, falling bridges, broken railways, nonstop wars and mentally ill veterans. Philippines is made a third rate proxy of a third rate country. It has to be one of the cheapest places on Earth for the military to fool around.

Someone please send massive copies of the 'Burning Bed' to the Philippines. This country has the worst case of battered wife syndrome in Asia. The US 'rescued' them from the Spanish, then enslaved them. In WWII, the good wife fought more fiercely against the Japanese than most any other occupied country in WWII (pound for pound Filipinos were badasses). They did this hoping for the love of the US only to be given 'proxy status' and occupation by US bases for decades afterwards. Yet, they finally threw off the US yoke only to come running back to the US' open arms in the new Anti-Chinese push, despite China being their biggest trade partner. smh

The colonizer not only colonize territory, but also they also colonize the minds of the local people. Mental colonization continues to persist among the people in former colonies like the Philippines, India and even Hong Kong. Such people display a preference for Anglo-Saxon culture, while harboring disdain for any non-Anglo culture (including their own). Even after the colonizers left, the minds of the natives remain enslaved and loyal to their former masters.

Philippines now looks like the most willing proxy. S Korea has toned down and Yoon looks to be losing his grip on power after his song "American Pie" did not hit the charts with his population. Japan population does not seem able to fight, but they might provide equipment and weapons, like in the case of Getmany. The ones stopping the bullets will be Philippines and they do not have a credible army. So we need to watch the army grow. S Korea will be kept busy by N Korea. The filipinos have been manipulated to hate just like Ukraine. US will continue to fan this flame of hatred and jealousy.

Korea and Japan are such vassal states yet, unfortunately, most people are deluded about their country's sovereignty even though they both host the largest American military bases in the region and don't recognize that their countries are vassal states of the US. If S. Korea and Japan can put aside their difference and unite to drive out the US from the region to regain their sovereignty there will be much less friction.

According to a Filipina historian the casualties suffered by the Philippines were in the hundreds of thousands. This is likely since the US waged a genocidal war that killed all Filipinos indiscriminately. The Philippine Army had already defeated the Spanish when the Americans got there. The last remnants of the Spanish Forces were under seige at the fort in Manila. The Spanish preferred to surrender to the Americans, rather than their former slaves.

When an entity makes decisions for another entity then the former is a Hegemon and the later is a colony. Like in corporate law a Colony does not have to be majority held by the controlling company. Not even one share is necessary. All that counts is by whom decisions are made. Most political analysts get lost in socio-economic complexity because they do not understand this subsidiarity principle. They still believe a country is sovereign because it has a flag and is a member of the UN or recognized by other countries. This is not at all the case. Children under 18 are entities that have their own names and rooms and bikes and some drive even cars but the most important decisions, even for a seventeen year old are made by their legal guardians. The Philippines live by the will of the US and thus are a fully fledged colony of the US. The US has about 50 colonies and some 40 dependencies globally, many of these countries are very small, like Malta, Cyprus the Baltic states or Brunei. Most analysts also do not know that there are hard measurable KPI that can show the empire in its structure and behavior. For example voting behavior of countries. Colonies almost never deviate from the Hegemon. Also colonies call the ruling country openly their Hegemon, or describe the Hegemon directly as their leader. Colonies are ruled through financial platforms, through economic institutions, through media, through NGOs and through the military of the Hegemon and through extraterritorial judiciary powers, for example when countries have to extradite their own citizens to the Hegemon. A very interesting KPI the forced investment of colonies in their Hegemon. And finally the ca 5% free rent an empire draws from its colonies (Piketty et all 2012). As long as political analysts do not understand that the West to this day runs a vast imperial business model they will hav3 a hard time analyzing events causally and, far more important, predicting future global socio-economic developments
