Loved this commercial when I was a kid! Been looking for it to pop up on KZfaq forever...Thanks!

So _that's_ why Frank wasn't 5-foot-2 like the little smart mouthed catcher. It was all the Quick! Yes, I too remember this ad vividly.

OMG! I loved this commercial when I was a kid! I also remember there was a promotion on the side of the Quik containers for a pair of Frank Howard glasses around that time, which I wanted like crazy but never got. Oh well....

RIP Frank Howard. I just heard the news of his passing at age 87. He was an imposing figure at 6’7” and about 260 pounds, even more so back in the days when he played when the average MLB player was only about 5’11” or 6’ tall, and under 200 pounds. But Frank was a gentle giant and a class act both on and off the field, who unfortunately had to play the majority of his career with lousy teams after helping to lead the Dodgers to a World Series title early in his career.

I don’t remember him at all. I wasn’t allowed to play baseball when I was a kid which was my mom’s idea and bothers me now even though I’m 61. I would have loved it.

I remember this as a kid. The memory of that ball being launched always stuck with me. Plus, since I’m 6’2’’ I got to use the “when I was your size” bit a couple of times over the years. Of course, Frank was a giant of 6’7’’ who would dwarf me.

I'm 6-2 also. We shoulda drank more Quick. Then we'd be Frank's size.

As a kid I was in awe the way the ball disappeared. I’ve been drinking Quik for 50 years because of this commercial…and still do!

@@brianarbenz1329I’m 6-2 also. I’ve always felt like I was average sized because there are so many large people now. When I visited Japan the older people were small but many of the younger people were taller.

This has to be from 1968 or early 1969 because he is wearing #9 on his uniform, He gave the #9 to Williams when he came aboard and went to #33 for 1969 season.

I remember they made one of these commercials with Ray Nitchke of the Packers as well.

That's a really big "W" on that helmet.

Looks more like a soft pretzel, than a curly W.
@toyman818 ай бұрын
From the Batting helmets I have see from that era, They W was done much larger on purpose to show the team logo easier.

Could this ad be done like that today? I’m not sure that actual team names/logos/etc. would be allowed for fear of rights issues and such.
