Thank you for the review. I bought 4 cameras and now that I want to add flood lights this looks like a good d option. I’m worried about people stealing the cameras or the weather dropping them when mounted. Do they only mount via magnet? Thanks

They mount with the magnet, but companies like Wasserstein make tethers that you can attach to make them harder to steal.

I have a couple questions on this. One, can you set the light to always be on or does it have to be motion? 2 an you turn the light on and off from the home app or is the home app only for the camera part?

You can manually turn the light on anytime you want in the app. You can’t leave it on all the time however.

@@GeorgeLangabeer thanks. I ended up taking it apart and jumping two of the wires to the sensor so it stays on. I think it was white and red and I capped off the black one. It might have been white to black though.

This maybe a dump question but, Does anyone knows if using starling and HomeKit the Cool down of the best cam battery is reduced or still 5 min?

The Starling unfortunately won’t help that.

@@GeorgeLangabeer Thanks, too bad, not sure why Google put that limitation considering many other battery cams don’t have a cool down, would be nice if at least they remove that limitation when it’s plugged in

I've now bought five Google Nest cameras and one Next floodlight. I've seen lots of reviews on youtube, but I haven't seen anyone do a review on the which is the best way to mount them. Flush against a wall or mounted to a ceiling. I read one comment by someone that you lose a lot of the range with the motion sensor if it's mounted to a ceiling. Have you tried comparing?

Are you talking about the camera or the floodlight? For the camera…We Mount them on house soffits everyday (which is the same orientation as a ceiling) & I’d say those people are crazy. Lol. You can Mount the camera either way. The Floodlight however, has to be mounted to a wall. You can’t Mount those to a ceiling or soffit.

@@GeorgeLangabeer sorry, I didn't know what a soffit was. Yes, I've seen many videos of people mouting the cameras on the wall and soffits. I've also seen one or two videos where the Nest Floodlight is mouted to a soffit. I think that's where I read a comment about the flloodlight motion sensor or the camera itself loses it's range. I trust your judgment though and won't attempt to mount it to my soffit. Thank you again.

Yeah, I install a couple of those floodlights a week. It’s straight from Nest that they are not designed for that orientation. Wish they were, but they’re not. You can put one on a soffit & use the “Rotate the camera 180 degrees” function in the settings. But the motion light is pretty much useless when you do that. The accessory I’m discussing in this video, is a little different.

@@GeorgeLangabeer that clears it up for me perfectly. Thank you. I will definitely not mount it to a soffit. I'm looking forward to putting up these cameras when I get them. Trying my best to look for places to mount the cameras under my soffits (and against the wall) just to give them a little more protection from the elements.

Unfortunately not. It must be plugged in with the Nest Power Cable for 24/7 recording.

I ordered directly some stuff from them (Wasserstein) last year, it took months to arrive, I haven’t yet still received the solar panel for Nest cam battery, they say they’re waiting for firmware update from google. They have great products, but don’t buy directly from them.

Yeah, even the people at Wasserstein will tell you to order their stuff on Amazon. You’re the second person to mention that about the solar panel for the battery camera. Interesting.
