Thanks for the reply. Yes Delboy it is a whirring noise that get progressively louder with speed and vice versa. I saw many youtube reviews on this bike , before purchase, and nobody commented on noise coming up between the shocks and tank.....
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 4 жыл бұрын
OK, have you tried to re-create this noise in a static environment, get the bike up on a paddock stand and spin the wheel with your hand, listen for what rubs and without the engine running... you may be able to locate the source of the noise, naturally I'm sure you know that these engines have a characteristic whine to them, which comes from the cam drive gears, and that will be heard most at the rear of the engine... however, if it is road speed related, and not engine revs related, then something must be rubbing... (to determine this, ride along at a safe speed where you can hear the noise, then shut the throttle and pull the clutch in and coast, if the noise drops away, it's coming from the engine, but if the noise is unchanged, and just slows down a little with your road speed, then once again you've got something rubbing)... I can't suggest any more than that my friend without riding it, as far as I know, the differential is sealed at the factory, so it can't be low oil, obviously no chain, so the only other thing that can rub is either the back brake pads or a hugger maybe? check the tyre surface for any unnatural stripes on it, that's about all I can suggest over mail mate.

I bought those TKC tires for my Buell last season, being in New England they actually work quite well with our elements and sub par roads. Hey fella. The overall look is to heavy for me man, but I figure you know that already, I like my 70's choppers too much I guess 😂. That being said, love some of the stuff that you've made for this. Love the chrome/steel/brass look, got a fair bit of brass on the softail. The highlight for me on this build is definitely the chain guard man. Love how you did, what you did and the look. Del, Have you considered blacking out the bottom section of tank? the bit just forward and below the line of the seat, (if that makes sense) I squinted and held a piece of black paper up at the screen and I liked the effect it had on both the lines and the visual of the tank appearing a bit smaller. These tanks are freaking huge! @@Moonfleet41 Thanks buddy. The lockdowns are being lifted, I think prematurely, do to rise in cases in different states, which I believe is due to the fact that they didn't lock them all down. We are definitely getting second wave, personally I think its safer to kp it on.. however I do understand People's points of view.. however I prefer life. I'm about to start tearing into my bike and trying to pickup as much as I can fro you, I just want to do things the right way. Fork oil will be in Thursday. Thanks Again so much Del. Have a Great Weekend My Friend .

Hi Del 'n' Pen. I'm coming to the end of a special build. An XL600 Supermoto using parts from KTM, Suzuki, Yamaha, VOR and a lot of own fabrication. When I saw the Mutants I thought they were very poignant for this Heinz57 of mine. I hope they are as good as all the write-ups say. The Busa will show them up if they're not.

Sure thing Hughie, they seem to be marketed as a sport touring tyre, and I imagine they'd be fine for a Supermoto build too and watching the behaviour of the SM loonies, they do like a bit of rear wheel steering now and again, so if they're not so sticky, then perhaps they'll be perfect! And btw, you kept that quiet, didn't know you were building such a hooligan bike, you dark horse you!... drop us some photos on email if you get a chance, would love to see it! Hope you're keeping safe and well, have a lovely weekend, D&Px

This bike has a steam punk feel to it, or at least it does to me. You have to wear a half helmet and some steam punk goggles while riding this! LOL

Now that would be cool, or maybe a top hat with the goggles on the front and a big feather (but that may need a chin strap because I think this bike is quite fast lol)

Understable, but to be specifc and maybe pedantic, new is the last thing they were, they may have had lots of tread, which gives the impression of them being new, but they were 8yrs old according to the date codes and gone pretty hard especially on the edges, plus the rear one was way too big for the wheel!

I want to take that thing off roading:) Just curious you find the way you did the chain alignment more effective than the cheap chain alignment tools?
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, just measure the distance from the back of the axle block to the back of the swingarm, you can get it down to 1/2mm which is more than close enough.

How do the tyres perform as looking to put them on my bike ?
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 3 жыл бұрын
Well so far i like them, they seem to perform like any other tyres, wet or dry, they just grip and get on with the job. .

I have a question can you go over how you get the tyres road worthy when they are new like these. I know there are many ways but I would like your opinion on this. I am getting new tyres on my bike soon and I know they feel different and ever having new tyres I am not really sure what to watch for or do.

the tires look great. shouldn't the sprocket be on the rim for balancing?
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 4 жыл бұрын
Nope, it's a detachable part of the rim, and wheel weights are not there to compensate for the sprocket carrier... wheels are dynamically balanced without the carrier fitted.
