I came in knowing nothing about the case and thinking he was guilty with the opening statement, soon as I saw the video a few times it’s obvious that it’s self defense. He looked like he was looking for something, trying to ask them and then trying to walk away but they are all surrounding him and they attacked him first. Talking on evidence, self defense, he genuinely looked terrified and out of it when they were surrounding him. They wanted to act like bullies? People paid the price for it.

At face value, the video makes it look like self-defense. However, all of the most important moments were not obviously visible in the video until you watch it frame-by-frame and tie in the witness testimony. Namely, that he drew the knife before anyone hit him, and THEN he punched a girl in the face. THAT is why the boys knocked him down.

This is so tragic. So hard to watch. This man was clearly taunted and I believe he acted in self defense. If he approached the kids about the lost phone, the way they responded and took goggles afterward was unintentional aggression. No one deserved to lose their life on this day by any means, but by watching the video, these kids were menacing and causing aggression and almost mob like mentality. Watching this man being pushed down face first into the water must have created a great fear. Especially with what they were saying. Being young and impaired, they had no clue the implications of their behavior. Tragic for everyone involved, and I am sure everyone has deep regret. Lives were permanently altered due to alcohol fueled bad decisions.

As you said, in broken English it sounds like ".....looking for little girls...". He could have replied to them calling him a pedo saying " .....I'm not looking for little girls...". These "teens" were also in the wrong. He wasn't the only one who could have walked away. There was a large group of rowdy teens drinking underage screaming out loud he is a pedo and they kept attacking him. Each time they attacked him, someone was stabbed. I also don't think he punched the blonde for no reason. Each time he is attacked is when he attacks back. We don't have the whole story, neither does the prosecution. The video doesn't start at the beginning of the confrontation and doesn't show the initial encounter between the groups and the one guy.

Why didn't he put his hands forward and tell them to back out of his space? Why didn't he call for help to his own group? Why did he keep the knife low and hidden? Why didn't he warn? Why did he hit a woman in front of a bunch of her male friends; while holding the knife in his hand. An aggressive move that would automatically start a fight. They started the whole fight, they were screaming lies (predator) to get the attention of more ppl to help attack him both verbally and physically. They followed him, they kept attacking him, and each time they attacked is when he defended himself. They could have seriously injured him or even killed him-at one point it looked like they were trying to push his head underwater. If the jury finds him guilty then we are all at risk of drunken, drug addicted teens harming us and not being able to defend ourselves as they follow, antagonize, and attack us.

The attitude of these Teenagers was horrible, from the beginning they were very disrespectful towards the man, nothing makes it valid that he would attack with stabs, but I think that all ppl who saw the video will agree that this man, at that age and who is clearly not in the best physical condition, could have suffered worse injuries by falling when he was pushed, break a bone or hit his head, with brain damage or die. there were too many drugged or drunk people against 1 man, I'm not saying that his actions were correct but that Take into account everything that happened, those teenagers were not acting correctly, even when they stabbed their friends they did not act in an empathetic manner with the injured, some even continued laughing, and acting baby unconsciously, a very sad case, but what would have happened if that man died, which of the boys who attacked him would be imprisoned.

"They asked him" what he was doing? without a doubt they could hear him talking and without a doubt the drunk and high made a choice not the actually LISTEN to what he was saying. If they were a group of decent people, at least one of them would have actually listen to him and likely might have helped him. It's convenient though that the video only starts after Nic started approaching them. A man alone in the river doesn't just randomly go running at people. He was almost certainly being provoked by the asshats who only then decided to start recording. And none of them take ANY ounce of responsibility in how their actions caused this situation. They "thought he was weird" was a completely justifiable reason to heckle and humiliate the man. What a bunch of punks. Even worse, the other group not related to them and the most injured, also did not try to ascertain what the hell was going on. Instead, every person from that second party made a conscious choice to NOT listen to the man. They eagerly ran over getting a piece of the action. Even the father from the second group was worried about the older man yet the bitches came over to assert their commands under the guise of "protecting" the teens. JFC, they are nearly grown ass adults in a group, not 10 year old boys. So who has the advantage there?!

First witness-kid was either too drunk or is lying when he claims Nick never said why he was there. In the video, I can clearly hear nick say "I am looking for my snorkel..." then shortly after one of them start screaming " he is looking for little girls". Nick is clearly looking for the snorkel and most likely the phone, and when the two women walk up screaming at him he is gesturing over in the direction he dropped his snorkel and looks like he is explaining why he is there. These kids were in the wrong 100%. Nick is innocent and was defending himself. Nick even looks confused in the video as to why these teens are yelling at him like this when he is only looking for his snorkel and a phone. At first before trial, I thought Nick could have been in the wrong also just as the teens were, but now seeing the trial and watching the video multiple times I see that Nick is innocent. The only just outcome is that Nick is declared innocent of all charges.
