When your loc’s are like this you can use a crochet hook (0.5mm) to tighten each loc as is done with instant loc’s to cause your loc’s to mature helping to stop frizz, shrinkage and bunching! 🎉 The instant locking method is very easy! Good luck!👍🏾

Thank you for your input! I have seen people do them and it is amazing what people can do with they crochet hook. I have thought about doing a few but just want to embrace my journey truly at all stages first if you get what I mean. It is not out of the question for me yet though. Peace and love to you! 💜

Can I just say thank you for this video. I’ve been locd nearly 3 years. Had them installed professionally and learned to maintain them myself which I started after One year. My locs grew quickly in the first year (from approx. 12 inch) to now below bra length and continues to grow. I still braid and band when washing. My issue since month 7 and continues to be - is frizzzz. This is the first of a few videos that I feel have addressed this issue. I usually wrap the hair around my locs using water. However, with in minutes after it dries the frizz is back. I still braid at night and wear a bonnet with silk pillowcases. Still, my hair has lots of frizz. I plan to give this a try. I wash my hair monthly, but will increase wash days to weekly if necessary. Thank you again!!!

Ok I see what you’re doing. I’m too lazy to do my whole head like this. I’m 3 yrs in and some of them are changing and smoothing out. The other 60% I’ll have to wait. Braiding after washing helps tremendously for a temporary fix.

@@SocialSymone I instant locked all of my loc’s from the start. I wasn’t interested in going through all of the frustration I have seen on video if there’s a better way. No shrinkage, no bunching, no unraveling and I retighten with a 2 point rotation.

@@jamesbennett8637 Im glad that worked for you. It's a great option! I did consider to instant loc my hair however I want to experience the changes and etc. I feel like instant locking would speed it up. I do think it is great for all the reasons you stated. I instant locked one loc on the side of my head, it's held up good too! I appreciate your feedback and support 💜💜💜

Hi, great video. I was wondering, after defrosting your hair with this wrapping technique, how long until you locs frizz back up? Did this permanently fix your the frizziness? I am almost 3 1/2 years into my loc journey. I’ve had many accidents and learning milestones. I self installed and self maintain, and I’ve never seen a professional. And for better or worse, it shows. I like my hippie look with loose ends, where my hair was previously relaxed before, I started my journey. However, I don’t like frizz and about a year and a half ago I tried to fix the problem in a lazy way and trimmed excess frizz off with scizzors, hoping this would fix my problem, but it kind of exasperated it because hairs overtime slipped back out and it seems like those locks are frizzy or than ever. Considering doing a mixture of your wrapping technique and crocheting through the middle every few inches. Because I would hate to take the time doing this to all 250 of my locs only for them to be frizzy again a month later. Ya kno?

Thank you! and I feel you on the frizz, I've heard people have done locsmithing and crocheting as you said as a good method for frizz. I just let it be at this point lol. But I think what I shown is definitely a temporary thing. I hope this helps!

my microlocs are maybe 3 months old ( randomly installed them) but I kept wetting/washing/playing in my head and now I have so much frizz. Idk if its part of the process or my own doing or both.

Due to constant cancellations and distance decided I’d start Retie myself. Yes they look a mess with frizz and they aren’t as tight. How can I get my locks right?
@SocialSymone
@SocialSymone Жыл бұрын
I understand your point of view, distance and cancellation can make it difficult for maintaining locs. The frizz in my opinion comes with the territory. I think depending on what stages you are in, the frizz may be more apparent than others. For me, at the root of my hair, during reties, I wrap the loose hairs into the loc before I interlock. I find this helps alot with frizz at the root. 💜 I hope this answered your question or helps.

@@SocialSymone hey girl! The feeling is mutual. I’m so glad you’re loving your micro locs journey. You are glowing as usual 💜 anyways…Even at almost 18 months in I am still braiding but I have dropped banding. I did not like how the bands ripped my hair out on the ends. I have found that if I braid my hair all the way down to the ends that keeps them in tact throughout my wash and the take down is seamless. Only reason i asked is if your not washing your hair once a week that gel could led to build up and it’ll Start to show around the year mark. Now, my hair is starting to drop and get more solid so frizz isn’t a big issue but before I would just braid my hair with a little water or wrapping lotion and tame frizz that way. Can’t wait to see your new vid. I’m actually playing catch up now so expect to see more comments from me lol
@SocialSymone
@SocialSymone Жыл бұрын
@@Mrs.Adrian I appreciate the love, comment away! I think the method you are doing is very smartnAnd you are so right about the runnerbands!!! I had the same issue with them either getting suck or breaking my hair. It actually was one of the big reasons I stopped braiding a banding, besides being lazy lol. But yes you are right about the build up also. I wash once a week and only use the gel when I'm doing a touch up or retie so I can mold down the hair. So far I haven't had any issues. When wash day comes the gel is nonexistent in my hair, At least for now. I may go back to it but for now I feel freeeeee 💜

@@SocialSymone lazy is another reason of mine. Lol I’m still worried about them swelling too much. I think in another 6 months I’ll be done-I’m over it fr😂. Oh girl you’re good then. Washing frequently is the key. Honestly I don’t see how people go longer than 1.5 weeks. My scalp staring screaming at me at that point.
@SocialSymone
@SocialSymone Жыл бұрын
@@Mrs.Adrian I'm with you on that 2 weeks I'd the longest I can go but that's pushing it for me. 😂 And you just made me reconsider, the swelling has occurred in some of my locs. I think it's temporary though. Not sure if lumps would be an issue for me but I have heard other people mention that they wish they kept braiding and banding for that. reason.
