How would you know when the grease has run out?

I'd say, if you are opening the watch and noticing that the Gasket is either coming out and not staying in place, and when you go to tighten the caseback , and the Gasket is sticking to the caseback, then greasing will keep the O-ring in place and water from getting in, also attracting any small dust particles in the watch. Good stuff but don't need to mess with it unless opening watch and noticed the above ^^.

use engine grease. works for me for 40 years

@S. Nguyen maybe.....but i personally never had problems using engine grease and my hobby is collecting watches in which i have many hundreds and all been maintained with engine grease.

Wonderful stuff silicon lubricants. Don't breathe the spray versions, very dangerous as lasts indefinitely I avoid those. Servol used to sell silicon grease in tubes in the UK at Maplin, and plumbers would sell silicone oil to use when assembling plastic pipe fittings.

Contains petroleum not good for rubber seals as it degrades it
