Matthew Miller, the US State Department spokesperson, responded to a journalist's question about the disparity in information gathering and assessment of strikes in Gaza and Ukraine.
Miller explained that the context and nature of the conflicts differ significantly, making assessments challenging. In Gaza, strikes often involve Israeli and Hamas forces, with unclear targets and civilian locations used as human shields by Hamas.
In contrast, Ukraine's military does not hide among civilians, making assessments more straightforward. Miller acknowledged that while the US can demand answers from Israel, the complexity of the conflict and conflicting claims in Gaza make definitive conclusions difficult.
He emphasized that assessing responsibility for a strike differs from determining whether the strike targeted a legitimate military objective, citing the absence of conflicting claims in Ukraine.
