Its not the point of being perfect, its a matter of hazards, how long the car will as well. Otherwise you just wasted thousands of dollars in a poorly made car. You just dont buy something simply because you can afford it. I have nothing against the Challenger, but if it has ton of blind spots, drives rough, and needs a lot of maintenance then its a waste of money.

Its not a typical car to drive for regular typical drivers who are used to having kids in and out for the back seat and relies on the back window for the blindspots or uturns in underpasses. But for the rest of us, its a perfect daily driver. You just have to drive it different. Plus I have blindspot monitor that I hardly rely on but can come in handy on nights when people who drive with no lights in a small car and no engine noise wanna sneak up on me. Either way, I feel if you are a better driver than the mass majority of the people on the road then you can drive a challenger as easy as the other vehicles on the road

I came from driving a 2011 Camaro, and visibility in that was far worse. Even out of the front and side windows. You are SO right though, these cars must be driven differently. Just the size alone reminds me of some of those huge 60's and 70's cars. My parents had a 1973 Ford Galaxie 500. Google it and see for yourself how friggin huge it was. I used to drive it around town and friends would make fun of it saying that the cops from the show Streets of San Francisco used to drive one. Sadly, it was true.

It feels huge because you’re sitting not very far forward the rear axle, and the hood is about as long as a Mercedes GT It feels big because it’s bigger than a Mustang or Camaro. It’s not a pony car. It’s more of a grand tourer, which is what I like about it. It rides better, and looks more retro and true to the original rather than futuristic as other retro rods appear.

Great video, very accurate information regarding sight lines. I test drove mine and I could not believe how big the car truly is. Looking over the hood from driver seat, I describe it as looking across a football field. Again, the information in this video regarding the blind spot over right side shoulder is perfect, its terribly limited. I had to bump my passenger seat up to the dash just to see out the small back window. All in all, I absolutely love this car, and I use it as a daily driver. You just have to get used to the size.

Years ago we had this thing for dealing with the blind spots in these cars.....it was called.....turning your head, and looking. See, you didn't just glance in the mirror and rely on that. You actually had to turn your head and look. It was amazing. It was like the greatest thing ever invented. At various times I owned 3 Challengers, 2 Cudas, several Satellites and Road Runners, a Charger or two, and they all had blind spots. Hell, the giant station wagons with 14 glass windows had blind spots, but at the end of the day, you turned your head and looked. I had a 1970 Ford Torino GT, and the back window in that thing had to be 7 feet long, but it was laid over a such an angle that it looked very small in the rear view mirror. the sail panels on that thing could hide an 18 wheeler. Also, most cars back then didn't have a passenger side mirror. A passenger side mirror on most cars was an option. So...you had to turn your head...and LOOK. I'm amazed at how many people think that glancing in the side mirror is sufficient, when really, it's not.

If you want blind spots try the camaro. I've driven a challenger and it was surprising. It was only the 3.6. But it would move. It is large but I didn't feel it while driving. The car is humongous. It's a 300 with 2 doors. Big trunk, big interor, big car. Walking up and sitting down its a barge. Driving, it doesn't feel larger then the mustang. And it's way easier to drive then the camaro. My guess, they tighten the suspension on the performance cars. The sxt is rides like the barge it is, and handles surprisingly well. Visibility is good. Not as good as the mustang, but good.I feel you on the spin though. Some ass hat had put cheap uniroyal tiger paws on it. All they wanted to do was spin even with the 6 I couldn't really try the acceleration b/c of spin. Some CS 5's would have worked on it I think. Don't see CS3's lasting at all.

I have been a GM guy my entire life. I have owned so many fast GM's it's crazy. However, when it came to buy a new car I test drove a 2018 SS Camaro and within minutes I parked it. I told the Certified GM car salesman "no thank you." That really hurt especially as I actually became friends with the guy and was ready to buy. I even drove my 2002 Firehawk down there just to show him and even paid to have the car delivered from another state...that's how sure I was. You see, I'm blind in my right eye and I couldn't see anything on the right side of the car. I actually got quite depressed thinking...my muscle car days were over. Then I looked outside of my comfort zone and found a 2017 yellow and black Dodge Challenger RT. The car feels like a dream when driving it and I can see what the Hell I'm doing in it. Since then (two weeks ago) I have had the airbox changed and exhaust done (Borla). It is now over 400hp and I'm very happy with it.

True. Some people LOVE their SXT's as much as we love our V8's. The whole line-up is great and with so much selection available. I just can't stand the BS that V8 owners lay on the V6 people. Some folks just like the way the car looks and could car less about horsepower. Also, the V6 people who say BS about us V8 owners. A friend of mine said to me after I bought the V8, "All you people who buy cars like that are going through a midlife crisis." He also had to add, "And you know what they say about those who buy cars with big engines...?" I challenged him to an unzipping, in front of our wives too. But like the Subaru owner that he is, backed down and refused to compare manhoods. (Wonder what shortcomings he's hiding.) And about the "Mid-Life Crisis" thing. Really? KCars, you are far from "Mid-life' And If I'm at Mid-life now, I'm gonna live till I'm 120. Hey, we love these cars and we should care less who tries to knock us for owning one. Other are just jealous!

I’ve been following this channel for awhile and it’s a good one. You can buy a challenger or don’t, or buy a pony car or something from across the pond. One thing you need to realize is that a car purchase is not a life decision. Think of it as an expensive pair of shoes and nothing more so you’ll be free from worry or regret. American muscle is on borrowed time so buy that big V-8 and enjoy the rumble while you can. 👍

youre spot on about the tires man. Dodge messed up a bit by making those standard sizes. I have 245s on my A5 and it has just under 300bhp so theyre adequate. course the other issue dodge has with the high end Challenger trims is the drive shaft. its like they used a coffee stirrer or a sippy straw. Dodge needs to go back to the 2 Door Charger. Try to envision what a 71-74 style charger would look like with modern aesthetics.

Late to the party but just wanted to say this is a good video buddy. And damn I love that color and leather seats. Phew. Hopefully u got the windows black out. Just got a 2018 challenger scat pack. 61k miles on it. So no factory warranty but it’s in great shape. And u are 100% right with the tire spin. I got an auto tranny, looks like u do too. Already got a mustang piping me. I’m wondering if running it manual starting in 2nd gear would help with the spin? Cause the most spin occurs in gears 1-2. Prob best to spin tires to heat them then run manual for the actual race and start in gear 2. I need to read the manual and see if I have the launch mode.
@KCars
@KCars Жыл бұрын
Thanks! The automatics have launch control which has always spun the tires for me. Even on a roll it spun in 2nd gear until I got the 275 tires. Ended up getting Michelin pilot sport AS3 275s on all four and it hooked up perfect from a second gear roll

I love my challenger. I bought mine brand new (never buying new again) and it's great. 2015 B5 Blue. I'm used to driving huge cars but the blind spots on this thing is a pain. Definitely opt for the blind spot sensors. Even if you are good at detecting that sort of thing, the blind spot sensors are soooo nice and make driving it so much easier. It's a blast and I encourage anyone to test drive one on the busy streets with the convenience and assist package. Hey, you can always turn those features off if you want to prove how badass you are or whatever.

I got a 17 Challenger SXT back in September of last year and it suits my needs, 305 is good hp. And I agree with that people try to race you 😄 but this is a good car. I chose the sxt over the RT because of gas, I get about 28 on the highway, and 25 in the city, not too shabby.🤩

I would definitely agree with the tire issue, the factory rubber is far too skinny. And that's a beautiful car although It needs more rubber like RTlife said. I would also comment on your complaint of the size. it's not supposed to be a Mustang or a Camaro or anything else in that smaller category there really isn't a category that fits it at the moment. So it's a little unfair. I certainly get your visibility concern but there are very good videos to show to adjust your side mirrors properly to cover those blind spots and still not lose visibility. There are quite a few videos online, especially racing videos that will show you how to adjust your mirrors so that your blind spot isn't such a blind-spot concern for you. It really is a beautiful car and you should really enjoy it for what it is.

The blind spots are bad on the charger as well, but the chally is a little ridiculous. The real problem is the the seat latches. They will hang up, and the seats won't stay up until you get out of the car and finally find it's sweet spot.

Ended up not flying home at the end of the week and drove the Challenger back to Dallas for the weekend. The one I was driving had the cloth seats, but the leather seats in this video are friggin' killer! I could not believe the power, and that "sport" mode was so much damn fun! If you drive defensively and smart in adverse conditions you won't have problems generally speaking. I had a 73 Cougar when I was younger back in the 80s. That car had a huge blind spot, so I'm used to it. As for the people that want to race.... I haven't had that happen yet, but I have only had my SRT8 for a couple of weeks. I have noticed some drivers being a little more aggressive around me. 😃😃

Car isnt that big,its under 200 inches long 197 or so...My 68 Charger RT is about 1 foot longer and is wider.. Ford Taurus is longer and wider than a Challenger,many Audis,BMW,Mercedes are longer,wider and hundreds of pounds heavier !! Adjust your seat then you can see over the hood and out the window..I have no issues seeing out the window on mine.. As for spinning,well I grew up driving 60's and 70's cars and none had traction..My 68 Chrysler 300 would spin at 25 mph roll and never got traction off the line,same with my 68 Charger RT 440 always spun..I spun down the 1/8 th of a mile back in 1975 when the car was 100% stock !! All old car recorded times are off because of tire spin... Think the tires are not wide enough..old cars had 185 / 80 series 14 inch 195 75 series were the norm..205 60 series were considered wide treads ! Even 215 wide tread were the Widest tires back then and Bias Ply,thus the 0-60 1/4 mile time for all old cars are bogus !! Enjoy your car ! I have 87,000 miles on my 2015 Challenger Hellcat,zero problems !!
