12:19 - One thing I do that helps my cat with using his new furniture (like a cat tree or a bed) is I only give treats to him in that area for awhile, so he associates it with good vibes lol. He started to use his cat tree and window hammock on his own after about 2 days by doing this. ☺

That love will multiply with time. My cat is 14 now, Im heading toward the end of the rope with her. I had her since she was a little kitten. Can't imagine my life without her, which is soon, like in a couple of years. You can't never mentally prepare for it.

Showing my cat high places was my holy grail! I got him when he was 3 months and he was so undersocialized to the point that if I looked at him he would run away, and any time I picked him up he would be shaking and his heart would be beating so hard, but as soon as I got him up high he would stop and he’d get excited and start purring.

As a kittwn owner who lives a country where i can gobto the vet every week for checkups: 1) brush their teeth once a week 2)trim their nails, just a snip at the end 3)add water to their wet food so they drink enough. Start at a little, build it up 4) clean their ear with just a baby wipe and your finger once a week 5)take them out in their carrier as much as possible, not just to the vet. Just put them in the carrier and walk for five minutes and come backbif you have to. 5) give them a tall cat tree they can climb

I'm no cat expert but try getting her used to playing with her paws. No nail clipping, just get her used to having her paws touched. When you do cut her nails (not sure if you still do it or not but if you don't, re-start ones she's used to having her paws held) give her a treat after each nail so she starts to associate the treat with the sound. It's the sound that scares her. It's what we used to do with our dog, the sound still scared him but after being scared for like a second he used to give us his paw to cut his next nail, it was so cute! ^_^

Super good advice on the flea preventative. People think they can't get them if thei rcat doesn't meet other cats, but fleas live outside in the soil too. I give my cat Credelio (it's a pill that they chew). Worm preventative is also important, especially that there is no cure for heartworm in cats, and all it takes is one mosquito bite. 👍

You gotta be careful with pet insurance because they don't cover everything. I would suggest saving that money in a savings account instead, then you will have the money if you have to go to the vet. And yeah, i feel the pain. My Merri just had a urinary blockage. 5 hours at the vet : $1900 🤦‍♀ Giving them 1 part apple cider vinegar in 3 parts water 1-2 times a week can prevent crystals from forming in their bladder . Wish i had known that before, but now i know. 👍

I recommend treating the root cause of urinary blockages too! Cats naturally get most of their hydration through food, not directly drinking. Commercial dry cat food is not hydrating enough, leading to urinary problems and kidney disease :( The best preventative measure is feeding a fully wet diet since rehydrating the kibble does not return 100% moisture to the food. Fancy Feast Classic Pate or Chewy's Tiny Tiger are two great budget-friendly options.

I agree with the plastic cone and the surgery suit. Cats don't like them. The plastic cones really hinders their eating and drinking because they have smaller snouts. The suits I noticed kind of hinders the way their back legs move. 2 of my cats actively tried to remove them while the others were so stiff I was first worried if the suits were too tight. So I also switched to fluffy cones. They didn't like it at first until they realized they use the cones as pillows. One of them don't even want to remove the cone.

I’m adopting two kittens soon (they are both siblings who do not want to be separated so my family agreed to adopt both) im doing my best to be prepared. One of them is very playful, the other is also playful but more calmer. I proofed my house so the kittens won’t get into harm. I’m nervous but excited 😭🥰❤️

Omg this video is so sweet! I just watched it because I was bored but I could totally relate to so many things you went over Jasmine! I adopted my first cat a few years ago, her name is Yuki and she actually looks a lot like Suki but withiut the stripes! 🥰 I can totally relate to when you say you didn't know you could love something as much as you love your cat. I'm like that too! I'm constantly thinking about her when I'm not around. I'm glad I'm not the only one haha! Tip on teaching cats to enjoy nail clipping, if you can try and get even just 1 nail, or pretend to clip a nail, give her a treat right after and keep doing that, build up her tolerance on that and she'll enjoy it! I did start Yuki when she was young bc that was one of my worries, but she actually comes running to me when I bring out the clipper now bc she knows she's going to get the yummies!!

i remember i had a cat once, he would always leave the house to wonder around the neighborhood. this one time my dad wouldn’t let him back in the house and i cried very hard because he would threaten to hit me if i let him in. later that day he was hit by a truck and killed. i miss my mittens (that was his name)❤

i had a cat that "ran away" a few years ago before my move away from my hometown (my mom's friend was babysitting and probably just let him run free outside), and i always regretted how poorly i treated him ever since tbh. i love cats with all my heart (even if im deathly allergic) but i thought i knew everything about taking care of him, and trusted my mom partly with how to take care of cats (basically horrible discipline that just pissed the kitty off more and made me tired). when i get another chance again, i won't fuck it up this time. at least not as bad as the last time! this helped a lot, and im definitely saving this advice for when i get another kitten/cat.

similar situation here…i used to have a cat that my mom decided to dump outdoors one day due to my horrible allergies (that i honestly was fine with enduring), but he was in deplorable conditions. he never drank water, his fur was dirty and neglected, i don’t even know if he ate, and he went missing/died in a year. to be fair, it wasn’t my fault because i was literally 7 years old and my parents could’ve seen that they were abusing him (psa: keep your cats indoors y’all). but i will eternally regret treating him that way and i promised myself i’ll do better with any animal i encounter

this i can relate to. My parents never taught me proper cat manners so as a kid i would treat our cats pretty ignorantly. Until one of the two brothers went missing. This was in 2020 and a year ago my family got a kitten and I've gone to great lengths to make sure I don't repeat my mistakes. I still feel so bad. In a way it's comforting to know that his presence ended up affecting my view and respect of cats greatly. I still miss him. He'd wake us up by licking us to death. (ps to end on a more positive note, my recent cat i've made sure has a great life. We train regularly and have been since october. Our most difficult and cool trick is probably her sitting on my shoulder, it took months of semi consistent training and i'm so protective of her.)

Just as you mentioned me and my boyfriend were blessed with a litter of kittens (4) along with their mother!! He legit found them in his backyard being raised in a bush. I’m taking in two and he’s keeping the mom and one of the babies, and the last one is going to a friend of mine who has a cat, so they’re also knowledgeable about cats. This is my first time having kittens but I’ve nvr been so ready for this connection

We have a stray cat too who just turned three some stuff I learned was when they’re kittens they don’t drink the water so we mixed water in with they’re soft food (canned kitten food) and in a little bowl on the side kitten formula

This is the cutest video. I LOVE cats, always have, and knew they were misunderstood by too many. There is a soul connection to cats if one allows it. I did laugh at the part about being uncomfortable for the sake of their comfort - I don't know why but it's so common for people who are owned by cats. Over the years, I'm noticing more and more men in the cat section at PetSmart. Recently, I came around the corner and saw the cutest sight. A young man had a kitten and he was putting it on the cat trees asking it, "Hey, buddy...do you like this one?" Poor thing looked terrified but I could tell he was going to have a good life - he daddy cares about him. And, I LOVE to watch Rachel and Jun's channels (they have two) - they are such a cool couple who LOVES their cats. I also enjoy when Rachel speaks Japanese - she's so fluent.

We found a homeless 2 yr old boy we called DEXTER on our patio furniture & honestly he was (R I P) the best boy ever. Im glad u talked about ADOPTION & spaying . We had a shelter here with 900 cats 🐈!!! it was sickening. I recued 2 cats from another shelter 1 had been there 11 yrs & the other for 14 yrs. Can u imagine that? Omg picking her up and showing her things that she doesn't usually get to see, I can relate to that! My cat wanted to go on this counter with a toaster oven and microwave and there wasn't any room for her to do so safely but I could tell she wanted to jump there, so I just picked her up and showed her everything on there and now she ignores it like its old news 😂

Mine is definitely my soulmate, I always feel guilty that because of my depression I don’t appreciate him enough but I love him the most. He is so similar to yours but fluffy orange, loves strings too and he also almost died because he was sick when I got him. Had insurance but it was too early to get coverage, damn it’s expensive. He was worth it though. He is doing so good now,
