Thanks! I’ve been practicing throwing for months, but this video showed me that I was doing everything wrong. This was incredibly helpful.

Just watched this. I completely agree with you as I refuse to pay someone to teach my son what I can do. I end up having to re-teach him. So far for the last couple yrs, you are the only one that teaches the same as me. Its very refreshing to say the least. Any chance you will be in the South Dakota area?

Hey coach when I’m running a 10 yard out how far should I stem my db off his platform before start running vertical again Also if I’m running a post against zone do you recommend getting on his toes and on the left moment throwing a triple rocker step
@firstdowntraining Жыл бұрын
For the post yes but make sure to lead to that triple you build into it with a single cut and regular rocker step. For the 10yd out I honestly think it kind of depends on the coverage

In my experience the main problem with lifting without a backstroke is that the shoulders end up rotating before the hips, so the sequence is broken. It is often accompanied by an indisciplined front side, as the front arm ends up extending and pulling down, as you explain. This seems to force the front leg to stiffen rather than remain bent through the release.
@firstdowntraining7 ай бұрын
Correct, appreciate you man 🤝
@robcolvin85749 ай бұрын
How many reps of the backstroke would you recommend per day. I have a 10 year old son who doesn’t get much of a backstroke on his throws. Thanks love the videos
@firstdowntraining9 ай бұрын
I would say 25-50 reps. Without throwing- have him hold either the football or a weighted ball and it will help

Hey coach, should I throw and make my right hand to the opposite pocket (I am a righty) not by pulling but by purpose?
@firstdowntraining Жыл бұрын
It can help sometimes just make sure you don’t over rotate and rip open your front shoulder. I personally don’t teach the opposite pocket thing, I teach to extend and wherever the hand goes is fine but if that helps you follow through I’m not against it

Honestly I would say it’s the same thing for TEs & RBs that I teach WRs so any of the content on this channel would help! Routes May differ but how you get open stays the same

I’m honestly not too sure- it’s a good football but the only reason I have it is because they sent it to me. I personally can’t justify the price but 😂🤷🏻♂️ the football is very easy to break in and comes off my hand great.

hey coach, right now i run a very slow 40 time and im looking to get it down cuz im short. Im fast on the field but when i run the 40 timed its a 5.3. Im 15 years old and do you think its possible i can run a 4.4-5 by the time im 18?
@gus4510 Жыл бұрын
im not coach but with enough speed training yes, you are also still growing and you will get stronger by the time you are 18. I believe that you can get that time or even surpass that time with enough training.
@firstdowntraining Жыл бұрын
That’s tricky but possible I think it’s probably your start and maybe lack of explosion. This below can help you! ⬇️ www.firstdowntraining.com/product-page/28-day-speed-workout-plan

But doesn’t Justin Herbert open up his front shoulder?
@firstdowntraining Жыл бұрын
He does, but he has correct timing with his foot strike and hip rotation when his shoulders initially go back. I wouldn’t try to replicate his throwing mechanics. He’s kind of like mahomes, the stuff he does isn’t necessarily what you’d teach a young QB.

If it doesn’t dip behind your head I think it’s fine- dips behind your head because you lift your arm to 90, that’s when it can cause problems and lead to injury
