Hello and welcome back. Tonite we have this truck with an issue that I've never really seen before on my sweet 6.7's. Due to how it is utilized well that & the fact they didnt change the CCV filter per engine hours, is what caused this to happen. We did an ol switch-a-roo with a new filter and we good. Trucks aerial lifting now!!! Thanks for watchin..see ya next week. Like and Subscibe

I literally almost started crying this morning when I went to check my oil, and when I pulled off the oil cap to add a quart, it did this. I have a 2018 with only 125,000 miles on it, and I can not afford major engine issues right now. A quick Google search led me to this video, and you just saved me from having a complete and total meltdown. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Legit, this video was like a warm hug to let me know everything else going on in my life right now is gonna be fine.

Great video helped me with my 17 f450. figured it was worth a shot to look at the filter since I was at 113k miles and 4300 hours after watching your video. I changed mine on my 2012 6.7 SRW as preventative maintenance because the original owner never changed it (118 k miles when I bought it, 140K currently) and went from average 15.5 MPG, to around 17-17.5 (I'm on 35x12.5 Toyo M/t/s). I was amazed. I'm pretty sure it cleared it up a slight haze on takeoff too.

Hey Rod, I love your videos, you are a great mechanic and instructor. With your knowledge and personality you would make a killing if you opened your own shop or at least become senior mech where you are at. Does using a CCV reroute like the one spe makes, in anyway damage your engine ? I heard that you need the small amount of vacuum to assist the crankcase venting. I just can’t see how oil in your intake AND then going thru your turbo can be a good or even neutral thing. I would think that the oil residue would accumulate in bad places if given enough time.

I work as a “mechanic” at a towing company and we have 2 of the 2018 F450 tow trucks, 1 has gone through a motor already, the other at 44000 and change kms(a lot of idle hours)and they have excessive oil use,any thoughts? Good evening. I have a 2014 f350 with the 6.7. I have blow by out of the oil fill tube and the dipstick tube. It seems substantial to me. No pressure present. Do I have a serviceable ccv? Truck runs great. If it matters, the truck has 500,000 miles on it and uses no oil. If serviceable, would that eliminate the smoke from the oil fill tube? Do you know the part number for the filter? The last 8 of the vin are eea46614. Thanks for the help.GREAT video, fine job. Take care

My 2017 f450 (tow truck) blew oil all over the engine (60K miles) from this problem. Blew out a seal on back of motor. They changed the filter/filter box back to pre 2017 system at Apple Ford. My first 2019 f450 (@43K miles) blew out the oil pan gasket, same problem. All warranty covered but several weeks downtime. My other 2019 f450 just blew oil all over the motor with only 26000 miles on the motor. Thought I had a little more time. Sheer fuckery. I have another 2019 with 1200 miles on it and that will be getting changed out in 2 weeks!! Not waiting around for the inevitable to happen.

Was the engine leaking oil? I remember the PCV port on early 90's throttle body V8's clogging with carbon preventing suction through the valve. They would come in leaking oil and it was always the first thing to check. Pull the throttle body off clean the port out and it was good to go.

My 2015 has a different CCV. It is "Non-serviceable". The box is sealed and doesn't use filters. It uses a venturi to separate the oil from the gases. I have tried to find out a change interval for this type. I was told by the dealership that there wasn't one. It doesn't require servicing. I wonder why they went to this "New" filtered design on the later models? My truck has about 130K on it and it doesn't blow the cap. I bought a new one to install but I'm thinking about returning it or waiting till I notice a problem.... What do you think? BTW Great Job!

Hey bro i had this problem and changed the filter two weeks later that filter was all clogged. So now i have the Ccv reroute kit and it works great but my truck steaming/ smoking a lot from the reroute hose and oil fill cap. What is another cause to make the filter clog up? Is something blocked ? Or do i need to clean something to make it not smoke so much from the hose and cap?

If you think about it that’s a stupid design. Let’s make a part that causes excess crank case pressure when it starts to go bad. That means we have to replace parts prematurely.

@@bluebird5100 all engines have some blowby causing some crankcase pressure, since this diesel engine doesn't have a PCV like a traditional gasoline engine, there is nothing sucking them out. In the old days, this bit of blowby/crankcase oil vapor etc would just go through a filter breather on a valve cover. Also, folks who re route this to atmosphere really notice alot on cold starts, especially when the oil heats up. Store that truck all winter and you will find some moisture that gets cooked out. A small stream is OK. I noticed my 2020 has a little more than I am used to seeing on 17-19 trucks but it has less than 3k miles and I anticipate this to get better, than get worse once at extreme mileage.
