Thank you sir! I was tearing into one of these yesterday and I didn't know the auto works plate was also retaining all of the drive train. So I'm pulling it thinking, "seems like a lot of screws," probably should have stopped at that point and started actually paying attention! But I didn't, then BOOM everything goes everywhere. Because of course I couldn't unwind it! I was more broken than the watch, convinced I'd never find info on this cheap Chinese movement. Low and behold, here you are saving my day! haha Subbed!

Great video! I just tried to swap out a DG2813 from a broken watch and when trying to put on the seconds had I broke the pin and now the rest sticks in the seconds hand! So a new hand...and a new movement need to be ordered. This pin of the seconds hand is super thin and very fragile. So my first attempt in watch work failed gloriously... :-(

Thx for the vid. I'm hopeful it will help me put my movement back together after a date wheel swap. That little spring broke the sound barrier as it flicked off the plate. Also a number of wheels associated with the time change came off with the plate. I have a bottle of whisky and a few hours to spare before giving up. Wish me luck.

@watchesandjewelry

I found (time being money) that I would replace the movement rather that service it. Tear down takes about twenty minutes. Assembly was a larger problem as the 3/4 plate makes it difficult to seat the train gears. The first time I spent about an hour just to seat four gears. Quicker now however.

I bought a watch that has a dg5833gmt movement (I think very similar to this one, if not just a rebranded movement) and I have an issue with it; it doesn't wind from the crown and only from the winding weight. is that normal for the dg5833gmt movement? Because I know that some Seiko movements don't have hand winding. Thanks again for the informative video! :)

I just bought a Pagani 1682 and the timegrapher is all over the place with its deviation estimation, I see anything from -30 to +30 seconds per day within a five minute period, with the beat error anywhere between 3 and 0.1 milliseconds. All that without changing the position. After a day of manually timing it it seems to be anywhere between -3 and +5 seconds per day.

it's only the minute and hour hand that need to line up. if, for example, the seconds hand is attached +5 sec, you can (hypothetically) set the time forward 5 sec with the everyday method and they will match. iow, time adjustment affects hour and minute but not seconds. this relates to the fact that the seconds hand is directly connected to the main gear train and cannot be forced, while the hour and minute hands are directly connected to each other but only indirectly connected to the main train through a clutch (the canon pinion). iow they basically follow the main train but they can be pushed off course with the time set. the same is true of the GMT hand, but with a separate adjuster for placing it wherever. note this is different (and arguably superior) to a rolex GMT, which can only occupy several fixed offsets from the main hour hand

Hi, thanks for the video. I had a problem with the stem of this movement: it just broke. Any clue about how to find one that would fit? Could not find information about the right specs.
@watchesandjewelry
@watchesandjewelry 3 жыл бұрын
Stems are all based on the movement. First you need to know the model or caliber of the movement. From there check the crown. Sometimes the step breaks at the bottom of the crown and that may require you to get a new crown also. It is not easy to find the right stem sometimes but it may require a bit of hunting

Interesting video! I was curious why you chose this movement, and not the Hangzhou 6460, which has a better reputation? It's an ETA 2836 clone with the GMT complication added. It's more expensive, but given the long hours you spent working around the poor design of the DG movement, it would probably be worth the extra expense.

Good video ..... however, the problem is these movements need servicing before you can use them ..... how can one give the movement a good rating with all the issues found ??........ I changed mine out for an NH35A after it kept stopping, as I had seen a video of how the one piece bridge is a nightmare and abandoned the GMT function ..... I'll stick to the ubiquitous NH35/NH36 ...... they just work and I've found the regulation to be decent!!

I have a question, maybe somebody can help me. I have a similar movement (DG5833) in my Pagani GMT2, what I dont get is: - when I'm wearing the watch all day long and during the night, it runs under +3s/day (great!) - but when I dont wear the watch its about +15s/day (doesnt matter in which position the watch is laying: face Up/down, crown Up/down....) Since the position of the watch does not seem to have influence on the time keeping when not worn, I think it must be the higher (body)tempeture when worn.... None of my other watches (NH35) show this kind of behaviour, what do you guys think about this? It doesnt bother me since the watch runs perfect as long as I'm wearing it but I would just like to understand the reason for this since this is the only watch that does this....

Is this movement, for the most reliable in your opinion?
@watchesandjewelry
@watchesandjewelry 2 жыл бұрын
Ok. I’m going to give you my most ho est opinion of this movement. When you get a good one, and treat it well ( don’t wear the watch hard, avoid the ocean and such) it will last. I am wearing one right now. Running for 18 months and it keeps relatively accurate time. If however, it drops hard, gets water on it (crown not tightened) it is easier to replace it with another good one. The only issue I have found is that there are several Chinese companies making these. One is really good. The others not so much. Keep that in mind. I have replaced dozens of these mostly due to dropping and rust.

i have a question about this movement, ive got problems with my gmt hands and hours hand moving together at the same time. i am so confuse and fustrated please helpp
@watchesandjewelry
@watchesandjewelry 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alen, First, I have to ask, is the movement you have a GMT, or Duel Time. GMT hour hands move 1/2 speed from each other. Duel time move together. The only reason I could see the hands moving together would be because the hands are stuck together. Usually, on a dual time movement, the “second” hour hand will be set by pulling the stem out one click, and turning in one direction or the other. I would check to see if the second hour hand moves in exact one hour increments. Some watch manufacturers (for better or worse) use a set of Fake hands that will move together and “LOOK” like a gmt movement. Without seeing the watch it is difficult to tell you for sure, but those are the things I would check to start with.
@alenjack3496
@alenjack3496 3 жыл бұрын
@@watchesandjewelry yes my watch movement is the same as yours with the gmt hands . I have issue When I go and change my gmt hands the hour hands move at the same time , until the hour hand stopped at 11 o’clock my gmt hands can finally move freely .but as I click the crown back to the winding position the gmt hands and hour hands went crazy , they both clicked to other direction
@watchesandjewelry
@watchesandjewelry 3 жыл бұрын
OK.. Helpful.. I’m guessing that that the watch needs a dial washer to “push down” on both the GMT wheel and the hour wheel. If there is a dial washer already on the watch, then next place I would look is to see if the dial is seated “too high”, and needs to be adjusted. The last thing I would check is to see if there is significant “rubbing” between the GMT wheel and the hour wheel. (Those are the two wheels that hold the two hands... just in case). It really sounds as though the dial is seated too high, or a dial washer is missing or too weak.

There should be a small flat brass piece that articulates when you pull the stem. The tip of the brass piece touches the balance wheel when you pull the stem out. Not all watches have this feature. There are several versions of these movements and most have the hacking feature. If you look inside at the area where the balance wheel is spinning, pull the stem. If you see the brass piece move, but not stop the watch then it needs adjustment. If you don’t see any articulation besides the balance wheel , it’s either missing or the green watch may not have it

Question - this movement is famous online for its extremely delicate keyless works. What tips do you have when removing and reinserting the stem? There is so much contradictory information online - some people say remove the stem in the winding position, some say the setting position, some say it doesn't matter as long as its dial up. I would like an informed opinion if possible?
@watchesandjewelry
@watchesandjewelry 3 жыл бұрын
It’s touchy either way. I have had no problems either way that were not out of the ordinary. I would say for me, the winding position was easier. The worst part of this watch (maybe just mine) was the loose fitting parts and the difficultly in assembly as a result.
