The only thing I dislike about the release is that it's limited.

Loving Grand Seiko! I’ve had my SBGM221 for over a year now and I still get caught up in the beauty of the dial. It’s simply next level craftsmanship!

Two key words in the title there, Simply and Perfect. The simple aesthetic of the watch really does create a lot of the desire for me. It's doing so much without looking like it's trying at all. Perfect in so many ways. More GS content please!

I love everything about the watch but I will admit that when I buy a GS what I really want is that smooth sweeping second hand from the Spring Drive movement. In most watches I want manual wind, but the Spring Drive is (for me) the cherry on top that really sets GS apart. Their finishing and dials are great, but arguably you can find comparable skill there in other brands, but you combine all that with the Spring Drive, and that is where the magic is.

I really enjoy these videos. You guys bounce off eachother really nicely. I really hope you become the first watch channel to reach 1 million subs. Keep up the great work

I've loved this watch since the first time I saw it. That pale pink is definitely reminiscent of cherry blossoms encased in show. I agree, this may indeed be the perfect Grand Seiko!

I love everything about this, the dial texture, the size, the chamfers. For me the pink is beautiful but I wouldn't wear it as a daily. Really hoping they put more colours on this model as an unlimited release.

The perfect grand seiko for me would need a neutral white-ish dial and spring drive movement. But this really does come extremely close

When a selection of regular production colourful dials come out later this year, these WILL fill the gap of the OP36s that are either now discontinued or can’t be bought at retail. Not that I’d want these to get hyped up cause I’d buy two instantly depending on the colours available.

Keep trying for the cherry blossoms in Japan. The only issue is that there can be a lot of rain during this period. Of course, if you are visiting a garden, there will be a bunch of umbrellas available. That, too, is so Japanese.

QUESTION / SUGGESTION : Japan YEN has depreciated by 25% just in 2022. What does this mean for the RRP of watches ? Is it worth only buying in Japan ? Are USD/ EUR prices coming down to reflect the YEN depreciation ? Or will they just earn bumper profits ?

Your light-hearted observations on the availability of such perfection reminds me of St. Anselms 'Ontological Argument' for the existence of God. That is; applied to this 'doozer', that an 'available' watch is superior to one whose perfection can merely be imagined.

I don't understand why GS does not follow Seiko with the compact lug to lug and female end link, if they did that they could easily make it 42 or 44. Without reserve meter this watch is beautiful. Nice video. Keep up the good work.

I ve tried SBGA413 The Shunbun, pink dial one. I ve never seen anything like this in my life! Craftsmanship and attention to detail is absolutely extra ordinary. Dial of the watch is just crazy! Omg!!! Titanium strap extremely comfortable. I ve 8 inch wrist and have oris prodiver chrono 51mm. GS only 40mm but don't care, I m gonna buy it soon

So nice that there's no superfluous text on the dial. If they'd eliminated the tiny asymmetrical text at 6 o'clock it would have been even better.

i feel pretty blessed to have one and it's just simply beautiful. No one seems to notice it but i do. The dial just changes colour depending on the outdoor light. Sometimes its almost silver, then other times its a soft pink. I love the movement and i really like the bracelet too! (I don't have the eye sight to change the strap without causing mayhem). The dial tho' is just perfection. It does have a pink icy feel to it. LOVE IT. I was born in 1967, so the 55 anniversary resonated with me too. if u can get one, get one. Just beautiful

Took my daughter to Grand Seiko London to collect hers yesterday number 705 of 1200. we were informed only 14 came into the UK and we got number 14

While GS tech has always been admirable, their watch designs were run of the mill. This one from the cherry blossom dial to the sleek look is a real looker.

I've been binge watching loads of these, does Tom know a lot more than we were originally led to believe? Or has he been doing his homework?

You missed the point that the 44GS actually had a case size around 38mm which was large for its time (1967) .

I think the case takes much more inspiration from the 45 and 56 King Seiko lines rather than the 44GS. Especially the lugs.

the case size and the clean dial are what i've been waiting for from GS! I do wish it had an exhibition case back though.

So I called the local AD (CH Premier) today to inquire about this watch, in advance, to see if they would be allocated any of this specific watch upon release. The fellow I spoke with on the phone yammered on repeatedly about how limited of a run this watch was and how my limited purchase history with them wouldn’t help me get to the front of the line. The convo left such a bad taste with me, to be treated as if I was insignificant. I really wanted to him to get bent.

If you are up close to a Grand Seiko you can see it is a substantial watch. But most people stand further back. From even a short distance there are many Seiko watches which look as good. At what point is accuracy the main issue. I own a 1934 15 jewel Omega watch . It is very accurate and could modern watches a go. Is it how long the watch will last . In the 1980’s I bought my Father a Seiko watch in a Alpertson Grocery store for $125.00. The watch was a quartz and it worked accurately for almost 30 years. I just purchased a Seiko Green Alpine watch. I will be interested on how long it will last. The watch game is Absolutely insane. My top watch is a 1949 18m rose gold manual wind 36mm black face watch. It is mint condition coming out of a old collection in Israel. I have had the watch for five years costing me $1500. A modern very of the same watch cost $16,500.

As a GS owner typing while wearing a JDM limited edition GS, i would like you to know that I am mad at Grand Seiko. The reason is the "Ginza." Another beautiful offering from Grand Seiko that is not being offered to the public outside of Japan. This practice is wrong and I may never buy another Seiko product if they don't stop these exclusive offerings.

I mean, at this point I just expect the dials are going to just make your heart ache, so i'm not surprised. Gorgeous!

I'm waiting for my first GS, the 9f quartz sbgx261, supposed to arrive in two weeks- this video didn't help my hype and anticipation for that Japanese quality on my wrist...

I seem to remember you telling us 41mm was the perfect size in one of your vlogs which I happen to agree with so this beautiful watch is way too small for me. I'd expect this to appeal more to ladies but each to their own.

The only part I don't like is the Japan lettering position at the bottom, I like symmetry.

All they need to do now is update the bracelet. They can take a lesson from what omega did with the speedmaster bracelet refresh.

Weirdly, I'd prefer that the dial be the colour of the 'GS' placed atop the front instead of that 'soft pink cherry blossom' colour.
