It's interesting seeing you go in this order, actually. I don't know whether you plan to wait for the 15th Doctor's season in May (to be called "season one") or will go back to do the Ninth (first of the revival) Doctor's beginning is ("series one") from 2005 or go back to the beginning of Classic Who in 1963, but I hope you do more in some fashion. Meanwhile, looking forward to the rest of the 2023 specials. Also, I just watched another Tennant show (although arguably he's third lead) from before he was the Doctor, called _Blackpool,_ which is a musical crime show of six episodes. I think you would find it interesting.

@@ChachiSays sorry couldn't resist 😀 i think of it as season 27... and 2023 season 40. One slight useful point - the convention has developed to refer to classic who 1963-1989 as seasons (1-26) and nu who (2005-2022) as series (no idea how the current era will be referred to) - so you're starting at series 1. That just saves all the confusion ...😀

Hearing you say “I want her to go visit Wilf and I don’t even know who he is” means a lot as I love Wilf as a character and like many other Whovians (Doctor Who fans) see him as the Whoniverse’s grandad (and even his actor Bernard Cribbins who is sadly no longer with us 😢)

Okay, so I was really worried that if you'd seen no Doctor Who before none of this would make sense. I loved your reaction and that you immediately 'got' who Donna was (definitely my favourite Doctor-Companion pairing so far in the 2005- Nu Who era) and that you were so invested in their story. It's great watching a reactor who gets genuinely invested in a show. I'm so happy you're starting with the 2005 Series 1 and can't wait to see your reactions. I’ve been watching dr who since the 70’s when I would sneak out of bed and turn on our local pbs station. I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to see it anew through your eyes. The meep was voiced by miriam margolyes, briefly known as prof Sprout in Harry Potter, but widely known as just her fabulous self on British talk shows. Now THAT is something you MUST see. Just do a quick search for Graham Norton & her, you won’t be disappointed. She is so gay and tells the raunchiest stories in the most proper British way. I just adore her, almost more than dr who.

Don't let them put doubt in your mind for your choice to start here. Doctor Who has and will always be a show where you should be able jump in with every new Doctor. And yes you miss out on some of the emotional punches by not knowing the 100 something episodes leading up to this. Yes this episodes ties up a lot of lose ends, yes this episode is a lot better if you know the previous adventures. But come May you have the advantage of following the story of chuta gatwa as well as the old doctors. And that is your choice. A tiny bit of spoiler, is a small price to be able to experience the 15th doctor. Is this the ideal way to watch Doctor who? No, but the wrong way neither. It is as you say, your choice, and now you can enjoy 15 with the rest of us when he comes out and that's pretty awesome.

In case they haven't been recommended yet, a couple of things I would suggest for getting your David Tennant fix would be Around the World in 80 Days (PBS series) and a stage production he did of Much Ado About Nothing that you can find on KZfaq, which ALSO starts Catherine Tate (Donna).

@@ChachiSays While there are some great jumping on points for Doctor Who it really doesn't matter where you start as long as you have the most surface-level pop culture knowledge of the show. Blue box, time and space. Any episode can be your first since The Doctor will reference things that are either past episodes or things off screen so it makes no difference to the new viewer. Hi i hope you enjoy the 3 60th birthday specials of doctor who starring David Tennant my beloved 10th doctor and 14th doctor for three episodes. I grew up with doctor who and the first doctor i watched was the 3rd incarnation Jon Pertwee in the 1970’s and the first doctor to be shown in colour but my fave doctor will always be 10 and 14 because i love David Tennant he’s a phenomenal actor and i’m not just saying that because we are both Scottish. He became an actor because he always wanted to play the doctor. He used to get into trouble at school because all his essays centered around being the doctor in doctor who and his dream came true. You’ll see when you reach his seasons. I enjoyed the star beast it was amazing to see David back but my faves of the specials are the next two. Wild Blue Yonder and The Giggle. I hope you’ll react to them too and have subbed to your channel for watching the star beast also Donna is my fave human companion followed by Rose. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the show it’s been on since 1963 with a slight break then back with nu who. Take care 😘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Tbf the 60th specials are New S1 episodes 1, 2 & 3, 2023 Christmas being episode 4, then therell be 8 more episodes starting in May, then a 2024 Christmas Special. All making up a 13 episode series. So on paper at least starting with this makes sense (of course large chunk of Doctor & Donna & UNIT backstory is lost doing so) There are now 3-4 eras of the franchise 1.Classic era (1963-1989 /1963-1996 /1963-2005)-some say it ended with Classic S26 in '89/some say it ended in 1996/others say it lasted up to Revival Who starting. (2.Wilderness era (1990-2005))-When Doctor Who was no longer on TV but content carried on being produced as books/Comics/audio drama until Revival Who started March 2005) 2/3. Revival Era (2005-2022)-when Doctor Who returned to TV in a regular sense, went from Revival S1 Revival S13 3/4. New Era (2022+)-this era, where Disney had distribution rights but doesnt own it exactly, compared to the transition between Classic & Revival, the transition from Revival to New was more seamless, that some call/will call New S1, Revival S14. Started with a tie in comic from November 2022-November 2023 & a 5 minute Children In Special bonus before this episode. A dubbed version of the Comic story = kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hpuTepZh1qrUk4k.htmlfeature=shared The Children In Need mini episode= kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iMx8p6SVuM27gIU.htmlfeature=shared

My favourite doctor is Matt Smith the actor who came after David Tennant but my favourite assistant is definitely Donna Noble played by Catherine Tate her and David have really good friend relationship with 0 sexual tension or pining, my first Doctor though was Chris Eccleston he was before David Tennant I think that just shows my age lol. Don't know if you've heard of it but there is a programme called Staged that has David Tennant and Michael Sheen in it which is very funny recorded during lockdown in the UK

Welcome to the ever-expanding Who Universe. If you want to see all the content, you're out of luck because there is so freaking much -- 60+ years of the TV show, a movie, animated material, comic books, novelizations, specials... You picked a fantastic place to start. I wasn't sure if it would be, but the BBC thought it was and the Producer (RTD) thought it was and it turns out they were right. You're gonna love the ride -- and I've subscribed to take it with you. (Problem is there are only 3 more episodes before a hiatus until mid-to-late this year. Sigh. Another feature of this show is waiting. Running and waiting.)

I'm glad you made a start - and were having such a blast. I warn you, it gets you. There's another Good Omens reactor I follow (sorry, I'm such a slut and you're not my only one) who I recommended start with "The Star Beast" because they loved Tennant. Oh boy did I get shot down by other Whovians for that. But you've vindicated my suggestion totally. I mean, you can always go back and watch more of the revival when you want (especially if you want more Wilf, you can do all of the Tennant/Tate stories. Coz he is lovely. I tear up just thinking about him.)

I didn’t in the end, but I ALMOST started who with a Special too, so I get you 😂. Start where you want to start, but I’m glad to hear you’re going back to series one now. (Also for those that know the show, the special I almost started with was Waters of Mars. Love it but omg what a terrible first ep that would have been. The Star Beast is a much better opener for a fan.)

if you continue please please start with Christopher Eccleston. He's fantastic and doesn't deserve to be skipped. It's also the best place to pick up the lore unless you're going all the way back to classic.

Doctor Who fans do not know how to shut up about spoilers. Sometimes it's malicious, but a lot of times it just doesn't occur to someone that a piece of information could be considered a spoiler (that includes basic things like what having different doctors means, or how long the different characters are on the show for). I highly recommend having someone else moderate your comment section. At minimum try to avoid comments where people infodump series lore because they're "just trying to be helpful", especially if you're planning on going back and watching from the beginning. All the information these commenters are providing is given in the show in a much more satisfying and engaging way.

Nooo you can't start watching Doctor Who for the very first time with these specials! lol. There's so much history, lore, and emotional stuff behind these that flies over your head if you don't know. You'll also be spoiled a little bit. Especially in the last one. At least start from David Tennant's first season(season 2 of the new Doctor Who), that's what I did. I was planning to just watch his seasons(season 2-4) but then I continued with the 12th Doctor and he became my favorite and now I'm invested in the show as a whole haha.

@binrotheheretic8174 5 ай бұрын
@@joshuajoshua2732 yeah but it doesn't work that way - pattern that works for new reactors is 2005 (Rose) forwards and if it connects enough then loop back to 1963 because they're invested enough to recognised it's about the writing. The encouraging thing is the 2 reactors chachisays and brainonbinge (take a look if you haven't already have started with the specials and have connected with the show enough to go back & start at Rose - and yes both have the issue of spoilers both in the specials and in the comments.

@@ChachiSaysBut it will have been done to deliberately make the point about the prejudice - there's always been an educational / progressive element to the show - if you watch very carefully in The end of the world episode there's a subtle line in it that makes a similar point to they're making with Rose here - but 18 years earlier - i only noticed it on the last few days. Which is why the complaints about the show suddenly becoming 'woke' are ridiculous.. 😀

Start with Christopher Eccleston's Ninth Doctor first though i would recommend starting from William Hartnell but if people don't have the patience for black and white and slow pace then start with Eccleston then when your caught up start Classic Who which i think is the best way to go.
