"do rumors really spread this quick?" at my high school literally no one cared about other peoples' drama, rumors only really travelled within a friend group. i knew almost no rumors about people in high school, because all of us were too focused on, y'know our grades and such, which isn't really the focus of high school movies. it was kinda boring tbh lmao
@mowganashwey
@mowganashwey 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I went to a super small high school and there were maybe one or two big rumors that actually spread a year. Otherwise same, things were pretty contained. We also didn't really have a 'popular' group. There were popular kids but they were generally really nice and were anywhere from jock to stoner to 'nerdy' etc.

If think it depends on people mentality, and on the high school you're in. I just finish high school and was in a small school (less than 400) and a lot of us were in the same middle school. And rumors traveled fast but people didn't care except sometimes when it was in your friend group. My best friend's a senior in a much bigger high school (more than 1200 people) and I remember when her ex started dating a new girl she had like tons of people she didn't know, that came to talk to her about her personal life 😬

@Kiss_My_Aspergers 3 жыл бұрын
@@evan_sunprince My english/Writer's Craft teacher (who retired after the year she taught me) looked like Diane Keaton and sounded like a pack-a-day smoker (without actually smoking). She was well-travelled and genuinely interesting. A lot of people didn't like her because she was a "hard marker" (insert eye-rolling here) and emotionally unstable (she had M.S. and was constantly making the decision - like most chronic pain patients - to either be comfortable and only semi-coherent, or to be in so much pain you'd lash out or break down over silly shit, but at least be cogent while teaching). But I *loved* her. At the end of the semester, for our Writer's Craft class, we had to submit a final project - our "Magnum Opus" - worth 30% of our total grade. I was notorious for falling behind and not turning in work, but I'm also known for being able to churn out high-quality projects at the absolute *final* deadline. So, the day before classes dispersed for exams, I turned in a last-minute project: a "coffee table book" of sorts with poems and short stories based on different types of tea I had in my cupboard (back when Teavana was still Teaopia) - I *still* hoard tea, btw. Anyway, at the end of our final class, my teacher told me to head to the cafeteria and she would meet me there when she was finished marking. About 20-30 minutes later, she joined me at my table and started gushing about my project - she gave me a _100%_ on it - and told me I should consider shopping it around to stores like Teaopia to see if they'd sell it as one of those aforementioned coffee table books (no dice, but I appreciated the thought). This brought me up from a mere 53% in that class to a much more respectable (and on-brand, lol) 83%. Not only that, but she confessed to me that, after all her years of teaching (which I would assume was a lot - maybe a quarter-century or so - given she was retiring that year), *I* was her *favourite* student. I was so overwhelmed, I just... 😲😳😅😂😭 Like??? What do I even say to that??? 😍😍😍 She was seriously such a doll. It's unfortunate she was such a technophobe, made it impossible to keep in touch with her after she left. I still think about her, though. All the time. I'm also still friends with my english teacher from my final year of high school - I'm always tagging her in literary jokes & cute Dachshund pics on Facebook. She's great. She's been retired for a while now, too, but she's been keeping herself busy nonetheless. =) Between her and my other english teacher... It was like having the Golden Girls for friends. X3 ❤

For the “asking permission to kiss” debate- personally, that’s why I’m a fan of the slow lean-in. It’s like a non-verbal way of asking for consent, while still keeping some of the spontaneity. When a guy leans in really slow, it’s like he’s saying ‘I think the moment is right for us to kiss now. Do you feel the same?’ And then if the other person draws back, it means ‘no’, but if they stay still or lean into it... then it’s on.
@alyalvarado1667

I think it's cute to say it out loud, to just straight up ask "can i kiss you?" but the perfect alternative that is just as cute is this exactly! especially for people who think the question might ruin the mood, the slow lean-in is the perfect non-verbal way of asking for consent, and i love watching it in films much more than the super fast and spontaneous kiss where the person being kissed doesn't have time to pull away.

I mean yeah, consent is an important thing, but people these days are too intense with that shit, to the point that you might even have to ask to breathe the same air with the other person, like, people need to seriously chill, you know, you can still talk, touch and interact with anyone without literally asking for permission that doesn't make you a creep or a rapist or someone with bad intentions, but people act like they really are .. we need to learn when we can ask for consent and when it is not necessary.
@jazdonaire2347
@jazdonaire2347 3 жыл бұрын
I think having consent doesn’t necessarily mean verbal consent. I saw someone else in the comment section discussing nonverbal consent in the example of a slow lean in kiss where one person leans in slowly 90% of the way and the other person can either lean in, thus consenting, or not/turn away, thus not consenting. Yes consenting is important, absolutely mandatory as a matter of fact but to label all people who feel as though asking if a kiss is okay ruins the moment predatory is an incorrect use of the word.

I think asking for permission to kiss someone, when the moment is right and there's chemistry, is very cute and can be sexy. I also think saying blatantly how you feel about someone is very, very cool. Just calmly saying how it is with confidence, without being creepy. Own your feelings! So many relationships in my life were either ruined or didn't become what they could've become because for some reason I was terrified of talking honestly about how I felt and I either kept it in until it exploded, or I said what I thought the other person wanted to hear. It's stupid.
