HEY GUYS!!
I finally watched The Goonies for the first time! It was such a light-hearted, funny, feel-good film that I can imagine every type of person would thoroughly enjoy. It was so sweet, the character dynamic and how the villain characters were written was so fun to watch and I genuinely had fun watching the story unfold.
I hope you guys enjoy the film as much as I did!!

cyberbullying let people become bullies, that would not have been able to do so before internet.... it broadened the pool of potential bullies... and it takes up thevhances, of getting away with it... in the 80s we got together and tought the bully a lesson the hard way... can´t really do that on cyberbullies...

As a Vancouverite (Wa not Ba) I would also add that thunderstorms are quite rare in this area. Particularly near the coast. Growing up we frequently went to Astoria and Long Beach because it was close enough for a day trip. Sadly Astoria is not what it once was. It's being overrun by hipsters and nouveau riche. A woman I work with just sold her house with a turret in Astoria for something unbelievable like $500k that she bought for about $150k. I have friends who have a beach house in Seaview Washington that's a 100 year old shack without a foundation and the bathroom is an afterthought. They could sell it tomorrow for $250k. Unbelievable.

Trivia: 1) The hat Jake's wearing is actually from Indiana Jones. Spielberg apparently took it from the filming set and brought it the one for Goonies for Robert Davi to wear.. 2) The boy who played Chunk, Jeff Cohen, eventually went to the same university I did, UC Berkeley. He became our student body president and would apparently do the Truffle Shuffle during our school football games. (Although my time there overlapped his by 3 years, ahead of me 1 year, I unfortunately never saw this since I didn't know he was also there and I never went to football games, only finding out about this many years later.) 3) Data, played by Jonathan Ke Quan, who was in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, said when they find Chester Copperpot that he went in, but he never came back out, and that this was in 1935, the same year Temple of Doom was set, which also released the year before Goonies did. And he "was an expert" who succumbed to the booby traps, while the Goonies are just a buncha kids.

You’re reactions were so cute 😊 I would also love to go down the water slide!! This is one of my favorite movies. The campy comedy bits are fun, but what I love most is when the comedy pays off for the serious moments. The part when Mouth picks up the coin and he insists on taking it because it was his wish that didn’t come true always stuck with me. And the moment when Mikey tells them they have to keep going because this is their time. They’re never gonna get these moments back. They’re being forced to leave their homes and childhood is ending, essentially. And all of them decide to continue on the adventure. I just love it. Also WOW I also have a fear of ships sunken underwater!! Like minds!!

3 fun facts. 1. The kid who played Mikey went on to become Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings. 2. Mikey’s older brother went on to become Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 3. Sloth’s Superman shirt was an unplanned gag to pay tribute to director Richard Donner, who directed the first Christopher Reeve Superman movie as well as The Goonies. Donner like the prank so much, he included the shirt in the remainder of the film.

Fun Fact: After filming Richard Donner was planning on going to his house in Hawaii to escape the kids, as they drive him nuts during production. Unbeknownst to Donner, Steven Spielberg flew all the kids out to Hawaii ahead of him. When Donner turned up at his house, the cast had taken over the place & thrown the contents of the suitcases everywhere 😂 The Goonies episode of Josh Gads reunited is well worth a watch!! Also & I’m not sure if it’s intentional, but Nedry in Jurassic Park wears several outfits that are the same as what Mikey (yellow raincoat), Chunk (Hawaiian shirt) & Mouth (grey jacket) all wear.
