As with most comic book characters, there are often re-imaginations and different versions to a character's past. We have chosen primarily to follow the storyline which unfolded in 1976's Nova #1 and was expanded upon in 1993's New Warriors #42 and 2013's Nova Vol. 5 # 1-3.

When Marvel decides to introduce Nova in the MCU I hope they go with Richard Ryder. He is by far the coolest and best person to carry the mantle of Nova. I also can’t wait to see how the Nova-Force compares to the cosmic powers of Captain Marvel.

actually the nova core appears in guardians of the galaxy, the're in the yellow ships on that city planet.nova is later on cronologycally, he could be in guardians 2, but the movie would have to be centered arround him due to how powerfull he is compared to the individual guardians.

I never noticed how close this was to Green Lantern's origin. They "borrowed"from each other quite often back then.

I also love how The Nova-Corp is extremely similar to The Green Lantern Corp. Yes Marvel took several liberties when creating Nova and the Nova Corp by essentially ripping off The Green Lanterns but personally I don’t care. After all Marvel needs their own version of an Intergalactic Peace-Keeping Police Force. I’m so hyped to see Nova and The Nova Corp in The MCU. I want to know if they will introduce them in the next Guardians of the Galaxy or in Captain Marvel 2.

The Annihilation comic with Nova, Drax and Silver Surfer is still one of my favourites. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes that sort of stuff

So lemme get this straight, he's someone who gets powers from a dying alien, of whom is part of an intergalactic police force, known as the Nova CORPS. Who's powers are flight, energy blasts, and a ton of stuff. Who's powers come from some piece of clothing they wear... Yeah GL and Nova are nothing alike.

Nova doesn't use magic for his power source. If anything Quasar is more like GL

+Danny Contreras Thats Allan Scott Green Lantern. The GL corps use emotional spectrum for there source of power and energy.

Quasar is much closer to GL than Nova is based on powers, but Nova is different from GL in the fact that he was teenager who lacked confidence and GL is a pilot who is both confident and brave. The nova force does not allow them to make constructs like the Quasar or GL, and their powers are limited based on their ranking in the corps. GL's powers are based on their emotions that influence the strength of their constructs. The nova corp has the worldmind to give them information that the computer has collected, which the GL doesn't have. The GL has a planet as a member while the nova corps doesn't. Basically they have the same story set up but not the same hero that it revolves around.

+raiban19v One lacked confidence, the other excelled in it. The GL Ring gives them a basically universal knowledge if they ask a question about anything. It's barely ever heard of that a ring doesn't know something

Hal Jordan and Rick Rider have almost the same origin, in the 90's I underestimated Nova because I though of him as the poor man's Green Lantern but a friend got me into it, he and GL have great books and very different original adventures, I became an instant fan since then this goes to show that we don't judge a book by it's cover.

One of the more underrated superheroes in Marvel comics! I read his comic series that came out before 2013. I have to say he is one of my favorite heroes of all time.

Nova may be a Rip off of Green Lantern but he's certainly better then him I mean seriously Marvel has a Habit of doing DC characters better then DC (I think it's because Marvel doesn't make them overpowered)

This was Awesome. I'd love to see Comic Book Origines do either Rom Spaceknight, with it returning this year in IDW's lineup. Or even the Human Fly who had appeared on Tom Snyder's and other talk shows during the late 70s early 80s.

I really enjoyed the character he grew from a spider-man and green lantern mix into something credible. Its a shame he has been written out but I guess he was written into a corner. If marvel ever put him in the movie universe I'd start him off when he was the average nova corps member the amount of power he gained in later issues would make him a plot device not a character.

In the MCU I hope they introduce Sam Alexander as Nova because the character has connections with the modern Guardians of the Galaxy members Gamora and Rocket Raccoon. Not only that but there’s already an actor perfect for Sam Alexander and that’s Mister Max Russo from Disney’s Wizard of Waverly Place aka Jake T. Austin.

I cant wait for him to be in the MCU. He has to arrive soon, since Thanos destroyed Xandar for the Power Stone. I know that its not the right villain, but Marvel might change that, since they change stuff sometimes. But since Marvel said that their top priority as of now is Nova, im excited!

Rider doesn't simply get his powers from his uniform. He didn't have the Nova uniform in the first several issues of the New Warriors and was still had his powers but not at their peak levels.

Things I hope happens to Nova in the MCU: - That he crosses over with The Guardians Of The Galaxy. - That he gets put in the list of characters that goes M.I.A or thought dead like Hulk. - That Sam Alexander also becomes Nova in some point. - That he visits new or already visited places.

I’m betting that Nova is gonna be a spin-off movie of Guardians of the Galaxy however the MCU is probably gonna choose Sam Alexander because he met Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, Groot, and Mantis already in the comics.

Why are you confusing the way sam alexander's powers work with richard riders? Richard rider, like the original nova corps, didn't need their uniforms to use the Nova force, it was part of them. Sam Alexander has no power unless he wears the helmet.

marvel wants to make a nova movie. hopefully he’ll make an appearance in guardians vol. 3, and have a part of infinity war’s story if he was there at xandar when thanos attacked.
