A fun copper casting in water today. I tried it 3 different ways and the best option is definitely a deeper water container so the copper freezes before it hits the bottom and sticks together . Also a whole heap for the safe which will be a big addition once its full. Anyway sit back relax and enjoy the video and remember if you Feel like supporting the channel it wont cost you a cent and that is to play one of my playlists on your computer before you walk away from it and let it play through that really helps as ads will play and watch time will go up . Watching ads definitely helps but Don’t ever feel as though you need to watch the ads if you don’t want to simply skip them and move into the video it’s completely up to you and I understand if you don’t have the time to do so👌🏻😁👍🏻.

HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

A fun melt today with mixed results. 4 melts with 3 water castings . Now dont try this at home and definitely DONT EVER PUT ICE IN THE WATER as it will result in an explosion 💥! No explosions today but a heap for the stack and a big bunch of coins for the manly safe👌🏻. So sit back take a break and enjoy the video . Have a great weekend and hope to see you all you beautiful people next Friday 👋🏻🫠

Awesome!!!!!!!! Water pours!! I loved it. Outside of gold & silver, copper is my favorite metal for you to melt and make things. The water pours make the copper so clean and shiny! And I love the little BB’s you make with it. Trying new things with the drilled holes was smart. I think the copper reacted with the chemicals in the soap from the blue container and that is why they turned black on the outside. Thanks for making and posting it!!!

This has nothing directly to do with the video content, more about the channel - I was looking at the length of this video, was thinking about past videos and the comments sections, and I don’t think I have seen one negative word on the fact your videos have gone from ~12 minutes to ~22 minutes all the way to 45 minutes and beyond. Not. One. Bad. Word. We all really do appreciate the time and effort you put into these, from the hot days over a furnace to the hours and hours of editing that goes into any video. Folks, if you don’t know, the most basic (read:crappy) video takes about a 5:1 ratio of minutes editing:minutes of video. The higher quality video, the more editing, and the higher the ratio of editing:video. BSD must put in at least 12:1 to 15:1 on that! So, earnestly, thanks for *all* you do for us. It must be worth it on your end, looking at your spread, but it is definitely worth it on ours! As always, pets & skritches to the boys. 🐶🐾🐕

Cheers buddy, I appreciate the comment and ongoing support mate. Yes editing is definitely the longest part of this upload game I reckon on a video that goes for an hour would sometimes take me 15 hours to edit so you’d be right on the money just about👍🏻. I’m just glad I still work nightshift and am in a position where I can edit most of the nights as long as nothing blows up or goes wrong with the plant I’m running 👊🏻😁.

I think your copper pellets came out great! I thought you had another rock tumbler/polisher once before as well. Not like the one you used this video, but another one. You may check into one of those. I use one to clean bullet casings, and other metallic objects with. You get some excellent results with one of those. Plus, it's a dry mix style of walnut, corn, or other types of media, so you won't have to worry about drying things afterwards as well. In any case (pun intended), amazing video as always. I always enjoy looking back at your earlier videos when you were cramped up into one corner of the garage. Then you expanded out to half of the garage. Then you were kicking vehicles out to work. Now you have your own shop! Amazing progress from an amazing guy!

your green flame comment reminded me of growing up my family always went camping every summer and my Dad always made what he called a color flame log, it was a 3 or 4 inch diameter copper pipe about 8 to 10 inches long and stuffed with real rubber garden hose (had to be Real rubber not some knock off crap or nylon/plastic), he would throw it into the fire AFTER we were done making smores/popcorn or anything edible, I remember seeing flame of every color of the rainbow, it was just AWESOME !!! thanks for jarring my memory :)

@@joshballou8432 Just to give you my point of reference. It was really just a potential, minor possible byproduct of his project. Best stated from gtp4. ChatGPT 4 User what form of copper is weed killer? ChatGPT Copper sulfate is a common form of copper used as a weed killer, particularly in aquatic environments to control algae growth. It is also used in various fungicides and bactericides for plant protection in agriculture and horticulture. When applied to water bodies, copper sulfate works by binding to the algae cells, disrupting their photosynthesis process, and eventually killing them. However, it's important to use copper sulfate according to environmental regulations and safety guidelines due to its potential to cause harm to aquatic life and water quality if misused or overapplied.

You probably already know about this, but there's a ceramic tumbling media that comes in a variety of shapes and sizes. It's mildly abrasive and comes in everything from beads to triangles or even pins. They would shine your copper up to shiney bright metal. I just looked it up on e-bay. Looks fairly inexpensive. 2 pounds for about $15 - $20 US. Another great video, and the boys are looking good! Keep 'em coming and see you Friday!

Very nice. Ingot, doing his morning stretches.... I watched my neighbor's dog, I swear, this little guy, he goes through a whole yoga routine in the morning.... I have no idea where he learned this, or what he's doing.... But he's got a whole routine... Stands there and extends the left front paw out in front, and the right rear leg way out behind, and holds that stretch for a few seconds... It goes on & on.... I gotta film it next time....

I've actually had the black copper thing happen myself. It seems there's a colouring technique where you heat the copper to a red heat and quench it in boiling water to get a cherry red patina. I tried it and it was intermingled red and charcoal black. Probably different heat affecting the type of surface oxides forming as it cools. Brilliant video as always!

So many satisfying parts to this video! I'd love to see you use the fishtank for orbeez ( sorry if I missed you doing that in my time away) I plan to make copper, brass and aluminum art by pouring in orbeez. The best part of this was the slow drips at the end in the barrel, so SO satisfying 😂🔥 Nice tumbler too!! 👍🙂

That was fun :) About half of the copper granulates black, cause melted copper and the O2 (what dissolved in the water) have a reaction. Copper(II)-oxide is black, and copper(i)-oxide is orange-red. (Copper in the nature cause a lot of color. With sulfur become little greenish black, plus oxigene become blue, with CO2 dark green,...etc [Black, gray, green, blue, orange... what a colorfull member :) ]

I have a solution for cleaning your casting grain. I'm training as a jewellery designer/maker and we use an acid solution for cleaning non-ferrous metals like copper. It's called Sparex, aka* Sodium bisulfate (often found in swimming pool additive to lower the PH of water). It works best when heated to 80C (180F), but it should never be brought to a boil because it will start to release fumes. A convenient container for it is a cheep crock pot with a lid, just drop the oxidized non-ferrous metal into it and it will begin to clean it, let it sit for half and hour, then take it out and wash it in water and backing soda to neutralize the acid. After that a three hour cycle in a rotary tumbler with a couple drops of soap will have them bright and shiny

45:18 the dogs are smart they wait until the doggy door stops swinging when following the other dog out so they don’t get whacked in the face. Both Ingot and Bullion do it lol

Cheers for the super thanks mate I really appreciate it. Yes I don’t mind doing a gday in comments when I read them that is but I’m sure there’s a lot that I miss. I just wish I had more time to be more active in the comment section, but across all the platforms I’m getting about 1000 comments /questions per day And there’s just not enough time in the day unfortunately. Have an awesome week mate and see you on Friday 👊🏻😁
