Hi, I purchased a new house and it only came with a new aquasure water softener 48000 or 64000 there is just me and my wife.we have had egg smell ever since we bought it. The seller never hooked it up and I knew nothing about water softeners. Aquasure tech help told me to regen manually so for 6 months I kept doing it. The water hardness has been between 250 and 425ppm. In April of this year I added pre filter up and the sulfur eliminator.water hardness is still the same.I have been emailing back for weeks with Aquasure tech plumber, well company and sulfur eliminator people with the conclusion the softener tank may have lost most of the resin/is damaged Aquasure tech has me test regeneration and it is fine . Settings are at default 1000 gallons. My pressure tank went out, got new one. My sulfur eliminator runs water constantly because of the iron content. Everything I’ve tried hasn’t brought down the hardness at all. What do you think? Thanks

Sounds like the water softener unit that you have is defective. If the system is not bringing down the hardness, then the unit is bad....in my opinion. The mechanism inside may not work properly. I would highly recommend you to buy the new system. The new system is fairly cheap now and sometimes you can catch it when it's on sale. I hope this helps and hopefully will help you solve the issues.

You're welcome 😊 Yes! I do highly recommend installing one for your home. It's well worth it. Here in Texas, hard water made my body itches every time after I took a shower. Now I'm not itchy anymore after the shower. 😄 My dishes came out super clean from my dishwasher, and the bathrooms are easier to clean. Also, my faucets don't have the calcium build-up anymore, and that's a plus.

Divide your TDS reading by 17.1 so 213/17.1 = 12.46, so rounded is 13 Grains. Your setting should be about 4698 Gallons. That's a little big for the house. It will probably regen every 20+ days. Even a 32,000 grain system would work in your household.
@MrBeeHS
@MrBeeHS 7 күн бұрын
Yes that is correct, but the 64,000 grain was on sale at Home Depot for the same price of the 32,000 grain, so I bought it. I do use a lot of water, just not for shower, but for purified drinker water and cooking as well and watering my inside plants. 😊

@@MrBeeHS I get it. You will just use a more salt than needed. Keep an eye on the long term resin performance. You may need to override the time meter and add an extra Regen cycle if your resin goes stagnant

The water softener, if you don't have a filter after the softener, will probably leave your PPM at 110 because though the softer removes calcium and magnesium, it does so by using salt that will be left in your system. So this might not make things spotless (you'll probably need to use a deionization system after the softener), salt is much easier to dissolve and won't degrade your systems as much (plus it's such a negligible amount you won't even notice any taste). You can probably find your real hardness of your water by using dipsticks that are specific to calcium carbonate and magnesium. In my case my TDM read 110 (because salt counts as a dissolved solid) but my dipstick showed the gpg for calcium and magnesium as 0.

When I test my water for hardness, should I bypass the water softner to get a true reading or test it with the softner in operation?
@MrBeeHS
@MrBeeHS 5 ай бұрын
Yes, to get a true reading, you need to bypass the water softener. So that you can see the reading from the city water. You can also test the hardness after the water softener to see how efficient your water softener performs as well.

Thanks for the video. I have the same 64000 grain system at my home. What is your TDS number at your kitchen sink faucet? I am interested to know how much the TDS number improved after the water was treated by your unit. Please let me know. My untreated input water number is 290ppm and the water after treated by the water softener is 375ppm, which is higher. The unit was installed 2 days ago following your other install instruction video. The unit was set to regenerated over the last 2 nights and today the number is at 375ppm. I wonder if my unit is bad and need to be returned.
@MrBeeHS
@MrBeeHS 7 ай бұрын
That's good that you have installed your unit. Just to let you know that your TDS will be a little higher than normal....that is ok. Because your treated water had salt in the mix due to the water softener system. The purpose for the water softener system is to soften the hard water that comes from the city. Hard water is usually bad for your appliances, faucets, and toilets. It'll leave that white and green stuff on your faucets. It won't reduce your TDS. My TDS that came out from the city water is 217 ppm and after water softener is 237 ppm and from my Reverse Osmosis came out 9 ppm. Which improved for drinking water. If you want to check the hardness of your water before and after the water softener system, you can buy water hardness strips to check. You will be surprised that your water softener system is working very efficiently. So keep your system.... it's well worth the investment. It'll take about at least one month for your water softener system to work for the whole house.

@@MrBeeHS If I may further add. Having zero PPM pure water probably isn't very good for you because your stomach actually needs ions like salt in order to open the gate channels in your stomach to absorb it. Zero PPM or DI water is really just good for cleaning equipment and running machinery because it leaves spotless stains and doesn't cause sediment.
@MrBeeHS
@MrBeeHS 6 ай бұрын
You are correct! Bullseye 👍 Your water softener system won't be able to remove all of that nor the RO or any other water purifier system that purifies water for drinking. You do need minerals and other stuff in the water to make your body healthy. Like DI and distilled water are not good for human bodies. Usually, manufacturers will use DI and distilled to mix with something else like antifreeze, etc.

You need to purchase the strips from Amazon to test out your water hardness. The strip will show show you the hardness of your tap water. Then, use that number to calculate your settings for your water softener system. The calculation method is also in my video as well.

Is 75 gallon the input from your main water source? We have our own water well with way less gallon a min. How should I calculate it?
@MrBeeHS
@MrBeeHS 2 ай бұрын
75 gallon input is the standard number as part of the formula for the water softener system. The 75 gallon is not the gallon per min. No matter where you get the water source from, you just need to plug in the 75 gallon as a part of the formula. I hope this helps.
@joephu
@joephu 7 күн бұрын
@@NataGeo83 the 75 gallons per person is the estimated usage. The reason you subtract this number from your gal capacity is so that if the meter gets to zero, you will still have some softening ability until the unit regenerates at 2:00 a.m.

I just purchased the same system. My water is about 280PPM. Im not sure if the softener will bring that down much. I’m curious what your PPM is after you installed the system?
@MrBeeHS
@MrBeeHS 6 ай бұрын
Your new system won't bring the ppm down much because its function is to soften the water, which removes calcium, magnesium, and other minerals from the city water that comes into your home. Those minerals are the ones that cause your faucets to have that white and green stuff on the surface and clog up the pipes, which they called it "hard water." The water purifier (for drinking) will bring down your ppm. By the way, my ppm before the water softener is about 290ish and after is about 270-280 ppm. But the ppm after the water came out from my water purifier system is 5 ppm. 😊
