I did a similar repair on a smaller tank and the internal pressure bulged the Flex Seal and eventually it failed. I resealed the outer patch PLUS I did the same repair to the INSIDE of the tank as well and so far it is holding without bulging at all. Just thought I'd throw that out there for whatever it's worth.

So far the repairs are holding OK. Although I'm not going to be shocked if it starts leaking one day!

I have found that you have to do the inside with flex seal tape Large size and use air to push the flex seal into the holes to seal it from both sides for best results let fully cure. On out side I had to put construction hard as nails sealant over to complete sealing.

@@mmrbeef It's now been four years. Is it still holding?

I used it to seal my gutter joints and so far it's held well but like you I'm skeptical about pressure on it.

I tried the NEW Flex PASTE! I have a Fiberglass Tank on my RV. The stuff is WORTHLESS! FLEX PASTE (On TV) works fine if you trying to seal from the inside out. And unless you can get inside the tank, is the only way this stuff will work. However, with a Tank, the Inside Pressure on the tank will force itself thru the outside patch and eventually start leaking again! Just cleaning the outside of the crack (with Acetone) and then patching, WILL NOT WORK! After I patched the small crack in my tank, let it sit for 48 hours, the patch was dry and solid. However, when you add water to the tank, you have now created a NEW DYNAMIC, Water Pressure from the inside of the TANK. Will push thru the crack and once again start leaking. In fact after leaving it sit another 24 hours, actually pushed the patch away from the tank and I was able to just peel the patch off the tank! It DID NOT Adhere to the tank material. Also, the FLEX PASTE dries very quickly and in my case the JAR that was sent to me was already HALF DRY. So, the 1 pound Jar I purchased was already hard when I opened it! FLEX PASTE IS USELESS for any kind of Leak that has a continuous pressure behind the crack, like an RV TANK! Definitely a BUYER BEWARE product. SAVE Your Money!

There are no commercial glues that actually work on high density or low density polyethylene (HDPE/LDPE) or polypropylene (pp). Check the 3M website. If you can create one you'll get rich. But until then, if you have a cracked tank call a local plastic welding service, so you can go back to not worrying about your tank, as it will have been done properly.

I couldn't agree more. HDPE pipe is connected mechanically or but heat fusion. That is the only way to make connections/ bonds. There was a chemical out there called Poly-water I believe we used for repairs on HDPE inter-duct piping. We couldn't use our typical socket fusion because of the communication cable inside the pipe. We used that in conjunction with a mechanical split patch that was bolted on.

I have a 820 and would like to talk with you about yours and where you are getting your parts.

Interesting , it may work. If it doesn't you could drill bigger holes and use bulkhead fittings.
@TheGravygun8 ай бұрын
You could've put gorilla tape over the holes and put the flex seal on there
