I have a 455 that the wife was mowing with and the pto just stopped working, all of the safety switches are good, the red light won't come on on the circuit board any suggestions?

A man GAVE me an old 455....It was (and still is ROUGH) nothing left on the seat but the frame...Busted dash cluster broken Idler pulley on deck etc...DEAD with a new battery installed...Ran a hot wire to a new ignition switch that somebody installed..turned the key and the thing started up like a brand new machine....Then it wouldn't turn off...Pulled my fuse from my rig up wire and it still continued to run for a few minutes before finally running out of fuel....Cranked it again and ran it across the yard,..Trans seems good...Showing 1597 hours...The ignition switch started working as it should ...Will be pulling the 60 inch deck out and overhauling it soon....😎

Where the hell can I get aftermarket parts for the p218g? I need a stator, rotor and ignition control module I just can't bring my self to spend over 400$ for all 3 for oem from Cummins

Good videos. I hardly ever throw anything away. I would just weld the frame and put new u-joints in the driveshaft. If you weld the crack and then weld a small piece on top of that area, it will never crack again. Some want a show tractor, others would be happy to have something that works well, if they don't have the extra money. While farming, I had a 4620 that had egged out engine holes where it bolts to the frame. I filled the holes with JB Weld and drilled and tapped them. 10 years of use later, those bolts still held tight.

A man gave me a very neglected 455 a few weeks ago...I had to rig some stuff up to get it to start but once I got power it fired right up on the first try...Looking forward to fixing it up...Trans runs out well too...

I know this is an old post. Mmrbeef do you know of any other snow blowers that will work with the 1445? I can figure a way to modify the mount but I believe the blower for the 1400 series pto spins opposite most other snow blowers. TIA

How is that V flex deck working for you and how are you liking the cut
@mmrbeef
@mmrbeef 7 күн бұрын
Cut quality is second to none! With the striping kit install this deck will make your yard look fantastic! However, it’s slow! Couple details that really hurt it’s performance: 1) it’s heavy, very heavy. Your machine will have to have weights. 2) limited trimming room. Because the deck is more centered, not off-set to the left, it has limited trimming capability around trees. Basically you will need to do more weed whacking. 3) with the striping kit the deck should be picked up to make a 180 degree turn. 4) expensive to maintain. With all the moving parts there is just a lot to maintain. With Deere no longer producing the deck, the parts are more expensive to boot. So to sum it up. Cut quality is fantastic but it has some draw backs depending on your situation.

So the only difference between 5kw and 15 kw I was told was the RPM it has load sinceor so when 40 wats or more is plugged in it will start.when you turn out last light in evening gen will shut off

It amazes me that the 318, in its original engine configuration, could handle a beefy 48" Tiller. Were those tillers aimed more toward commercial use? Perhaps that was a better fit for the 332 torque-wise?

I have a 317 that i bought about 15 years ago. It had been repowered with an Onan p218g before i bought it. I assume it has electronic ignition but have never had to work on it. It has the bendix type starter which i did have to replace but don’t know if it bolted to block or pan. Just wish it had power steering.

Does the 318 have a metal or plastic hood?
@mmrbeef
@mmrbeef 13 күн бұрын
318’s have fiberglass hoods. Most Deere garden tractors (emphasis on garden tractors) until the early 1990’s had fiber glass hoods.

Is this a P218 engine or the older pre '87 engine? I have an '87 with the P218. Only vehicle I've ever owned that i don't change the oil in myself lol. My local J.D dealer had a mechanic that was in his 70's and loved to get his hands on those older tractors. He kept it running flawlessly for the past 9yrs I've owned it. He retired this spring. Tractor still working A-1, so was just going to do oil myself. Thanks.

Just watched this video. I own 2-318s & love them both plus a 314. I don’t have to much problems with them as their built like the big deeres. One thing though,Deere did offer a front end loader for the 318. Wish I had too. Thanks

I’ve seen those modified with a small airbag for down pressure. I think it was an airbag for an air ride seat but I’m not positive. The guy just had it rigged up with a little 12v harbor freight compressor. He had to put a shock absorber on it because it would bounce so bad that he couldn’t use it.

I have a 318 that runs forward but not backwards. One check valve does not move freely so I’ve ordered a new one to see if that is the issue of NO REVERSE? Hope so as JD folks suggest that it may be the Transaxle ? Please advise or respond if you still maintain this KZfaq video series. Thanks

I’m still here. While you are waiting for your new check valve you could remove the stuck check valve and see if you can pry it up with a brass tip or even a screw driver if you don’t mind messing it up.

I found, when things were rusted in, that I could save time by using an acetylene torch to cut the balls out of both bearings. It made teardown much faster.
@SF-fm7ov
@SF-fm7ov 22 күн бұрын
I believe the washers keep the pulley from wandering on the shaft. A bushing/spacer is typically used. Flanges can stretch and since one of their functions is to squeeze the outer race which holds it in place, they may need replaced. The bearing may spin in the flanges if they are loose. Flanges are usually reasonably priced. Flanges hold outer race to frame, eccentric locking collars hold inner race to shaft. This assures that the spinning is in the bearing where it should be and that things stay in place. Old combines and potato harvesters used many bearings, so I have seen my share.
