I am not sure how I found the video, but this was great. So easy to follow and understand the layers that made up the painting with a limited palette. Thank you so much and I cant wait to try it. Hope you will have time for more videos, love that birdhouse in your garden. Be safe,and again thank you.

I ADORE this painting! I've known about negative painting, but never tried it. Now I'm going to give it a go. [albeit not this painting's complexity]. I'll start out with some simple things, and hopefully will then be able to do your painting justice. 🙂 Thank you so much, Stephen. from Qld. Oz

Did you use masking fluid on the trees first? I am a beginner and I would like to try this painting
@stephencoates81654 жыл бұрын
Hello Dana, If you have a look at the first stage of the video, I explain that I haven't used masking fluid and the reasons why. The painting is done by filling in all the negative spaces individually so there is no need to use masking fluid. You could of course use it if you wanted but for me it would be a waste of time. Best wishes, Steve

Beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing. I tried this and it didn’t turn out anywhere near as good 😔

After having just watched this negative painting technique below where there is no pure white paper, I find your way a bit restrictive or less free. Even though this one is more a design style, I'm going to try applying it to landscape painting of several layers of trees in the foreground.. check it out here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mptyqtCSm7WYaZ8.html

Hi there, many thanks for your comments and good luck with your experiment. My method doesn't involve any layering so in my view is much less complicated. The link you posted does show a really effective method with a lovely end result so thanks for sharing. Best wishes, Steve

HI Just found your you tube channel and enjoyed the contents a lot. However, when I tried accessing your 'shop' re the goods you were using, my web security tells me it is 'A dangerous site' and won't allow access. Perhaps you need to check this out as it may be others are also getting this message. Once again - enjoyed the contents immensely and have subscribed. Thank you and stay safe.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Only just seen your comment. I get plenty of visitors to my website but occasionally someone reports the same problem you have experienced. Some security software is very sensitive and for some reason picks up something it doesn't like the look of. All I can say is that the website carries a security certificate and as far as I am aware is not malicious and is safe to visit. You can bypass the warning but obviously at your own risk.
